The wedding turned out great, but I had issues with the DJ/​owner.
The DJ/​owner had an outdated song list from the early 2000s. That means, no Timbaland, no «Sexyback» by Justin Timberlake, no Norah Jones, no «I feel good» by James Brown– all staple songs heard at weddings. Seriously!
The good thing about the DJ was that he was really accommodating. I burned songs he didn’t have and gave them to him. Problem solved. He allowed me to go through his song list and X out any song I didn’t like.
He told us he isn’t good with computers. All his songs are on CDs and he used a CD changer. That surprised me because most of the weddings I’ve attended I’ve seen a DJ with a laptop and mp3s.
My dad hates hearing breaks when CDs are switched because the dancing stops. When we suggested to the DJ to burn 40 or so songs on two CDs to make it easier on him, he said he’d have to ask his son to do it.
My dad wanted karaōke at the reception, but I didn’t. I told the DJ we’re not going to have it and the guy said, «I don’t know. Your dad really wants it.»
So, I had to be adamant.
The DJ had to go to a family reunion and had a female DJ take his place. The second DJ knew what she was doing. She copied the songs we wanted on a couple CDs.
At the reception, everyone was dancing, having an awesome time.
