Mt. Pacifico is a great little hidden away and known to very few campground in the Angeles National Forest. It’s accessed off of Hwy. 2, just north of Chilao and Newcombs Ranch. Unfortunately, the campground is closed(technically) but still can be easily accessed, if you don’t mind hiking in 7 – 8 miles to the campground. It does however get under snow(7100 feet) in the winter so it’s not an ideal destination from November to March or April. We rode to the top over the weekend and it was gorgeous. Ran into a group of hikers(permitted) who had just shot a fair sized deer and we’re carrying back down. Typically, you won’t see anyone on your way up or down, unless we happen to be there. One of my favorite San Gabriel Mountains destinations. 360 degree views of Los Angeles and Antelope Valley.
