My family has been going to Mikes for several years. The food has always been decent. Except the last couple times we were in service was EXTREMELY slow. Our server was very nice but the kitchen was overwelmed with a full restaurant and carry out orders. We waited almost an hour last night for our meal. The breadsticks were warmed thru but didn’t have the crispy outer crust they usually have making them more soggy. Then when our food finally came out every item was cold, tough and /or soggy. Our server went to get manager. The manager wouldn’t take the time to come talk to us in person. Sent the server back out to deal with us. Blaming the restaurant was so busy. I’m sorry but that’s no excuse. Needless to say we walked out without eating!!! I do not plan to return to Mikes. Can’t believe management threw the responsibility back on the server… that is just WRONG in my eyes.

There is something to be said for a nostalgic restaurant — this one being opened in 1980, probably remodeled in the early ’90’s, it looks like what might be a child’s bedroom with a serious love of airplanes. However, the combination of bad service, sub-par food and a general lack of care by the wait staff, I’m at a loss how this restaurant is still in business. For starters, the bread was not good(half order of garlic cheese bread), came out cold and the look of it was even unappetizing. The salad — simply put was sad. Iceberg lettuce with brown pieces, scattered pieces of red cabbage, an offensively low amount of carrot shreds as well as red onions(these did look fresh!). No cheese, dressing was not made in house and the«house made» croutons were like a salt lick. The pizza wasn’t much better nor did it help take away from the glaringly bad service of our server who was very«off» and seemed more worried about taking a break than making sure we were having an excellent dining experience. To say the least, which this review didn’t, is that I would highly recommend you go else where when you are craving an awesome, cheesy, hot out of the oven pizza.

Being new to Kokomo, we tried Mike’s Pizza, based on its 4-star Unilocal rating. We did not find the experience to be 4 stars. The order was simple enough: two medium pizzas for takeout. First of all, the order wouldn’t be ready for 45 minutes. We ordered on a Sunday night – so I don’t think it should not have taken almost an hour to fill the order. Next: the medium pizzas seemed a little small – at least small considering the cost – close to $ 30. The pan-crust pizza wasn’t too bad. The crust was brown, rather than golden, but there was enough pepperoni and cheese to pass for a decent pizza. I would give that pie 3 stars. The second pizza, on the other hand, was simply not a good pizza. We ordered half cheese and half vegetarian on a thin crust. The vegetable side had lots of olives, fresh mushrooms, and onions, but they were all loose on top – no cheese holding them on. About half of the topping were left in the box because they fell off during transit from box to mouth. The cheese half had just a little cheese – too little to qualify as a «cheese» pizza. The crust, I’m afraid to say, was the second worst crust I’ve ever seen/eaten.(The first is another story, altogether.) In fact, based on the uniform docking dents, I suspect this was a pre-packaged or frozen crust. Actually, on second thought, the crust on frozen pizzas is better than the tough, leathery crust of this one. It was a remarkably bad crust. They also cut it in little squares, which I count as an abomination. So, there you have it. While we love locally owned businesses, the down side is they’re a bit of a gamble. We won’t bet on Mike’s Pizza again, I’m afraid.

I cannot speak of the other food on the menu but the thin crust pizza is amazing. That is all I order when I go there. Overall the service is above average. The plates and silverware need updating and there is some congregating of younger employees around the register counter that is a touch annoying, however, it is nothing that will keep me away from that pizza!

One of the best pizza places I’ve been to in Indiana. We had the breadsticks and a hand tossed pepperoni pizza. It was one of the best I’ve had in a long time!

My wife and I were in Kokomo for our annual pilgrimage to my old stomping grounds. I decided to take her to Mike’s. The place looks great. My wife got the vegetable soup and salad which was delicious. I ordered the tenderloin sandwich. It was just ok. We met an old buddy of mine there and hung out talking for an hour or so. I love this place.

I have been traveling to Kokomo for a few weeks now and was told that I needed to eat at Mike’s Pizza. Upon entering, the hostess stand had 3 staff around it, of whom none greeted me. Finally a man looked up and offered to seat me with no greeting or smile. My waitress was very pleasant and admitted she was new after I asked her for recommendations, which is fine. I ordered a small pizza. About 10 minutes later, my waitress stopped by again, gave me a plate, and said the pizza would be right out. 20 minutes later, I still did not have my pizza. Plus my waitress never provided me with any updates, or made eye contact, even though she passed by my table several times. I finally got my pizza, which was fine. I only hope my waitress was having a bad day and this is not typical of dining at Mike’s.

Back in Kokomo and decided I needed a mikes pizza fix. I only order the pizza and breadsticks. The pasta sauce isn’t great. My boys do like the Alfredo sauce though. The max pizza on a thin crust is my favorite. You can get the personal size for $ 7. We also really like the breadsticks. Everyone gets their own small pitcher of beverage, which is nice as the service is spotty. This is a good family or after the game place.

First time eating here recently, had heard its not very good but my experience was good. I got a grilled chicken salad, it was very good and large portion. Service was good and quick. Pricing was good as well. I’d go back.

Food is gross. Restaurant atmosphere is great… Cozy and clean. That’s it. I’m not picky but this place is laughable. Noodles are microwaved and bread is basically a hot dog roll. Sauce is ragu from the can I bet. There are lots if cars in the parking lot most nights which tricked me into trying it out. If you are craving Italian food, you’re better off going to the Kroeger down the road and getting a frozen Marie Callendars dinner and taking it home and sticking it in the microwave. Bad, bad, bad. I hate to say it because the staff seemed nice but they shouldn’t be in business with food that tastes that bad.

Mike’s has some great food! The staff is hit or miss on being pleasant and attentive but usually pretty solid. But the food is WORTHIT. It’s hot and very tasty. Their pizza is in my Top 5 of all time for ANYWHERE. Their pasta bakes and sandwiches are also good eats. Do yourself a favor and grab some cheesy garlic bread or bread sticks with cheese and a family salad before you get that Top Gun. Homey décor-a lil dark, a nice fireplace, it can feel cramped at times but go anyway. The food is that yummy, and the prices are fair for what you’re getting.

Wonderful atmosphere! Had a good midwestern style pizza and husband had a lasagna. Would go back again if in the area, but won’t make a special trip there since it’s American Italian and after living in Italy, I’m very prejudice — and as a native New Yorker, pizza is only pizza when it’s from NY!

I am so appreciative of the community role Mike’s has played over the years. I’ve been going to Mike’s since I was a wee lass subject to the whims of my parents’ dinner tastes and Mike’s was a tiny, dark room with tabletop games of Pac-Man(ah, the memories of a child). Mike’s has been there to house friend and family reunions and to wish the high-school me(and thousands of students over the years, I’m sure) good luck — via their intersection corner signs — as we drove to marching band state finals. It’s been well over a decade since I’ve graduated high school, and thinking of those signs of support still make me warm and fuzzy inside. It’s been awesome to watch Mike’s grow right along with me over the years, renovating and expanding their interior to more than twice the space and adding a rotating plane replica that to this day makes me break out my camera every time I visit. Now that I’m grown up, I try to visit local businesses every time I’m back in my hometown, and Mike’s is one of those places. And it doesn’t disappoint. They continue to offer friendly service, good food, and a comfortable small-town vibe that makes me proud to take my non-native friends to show what Kokomo is really all about.

This place is awful the breadsticks everyone is raving about have no flavor they are dough covered in butter. You’ll see one person say the food is fresh not true I got ravioli they are frozen from a box and where cold. From a box is not fresh the food quility is very poor cheese does not substitute for seasoning. The meat sauce over the food was jar sauce with meat chunks. They served some burned chuck of what I’m guessing was bread with our meals. You couldn’t eat it was hard as a rock you could use it as a weapon. There is no reason for anyone to ever eat here I’m in favor of supporting local business and not eating at chain restaurants, but this place is a joke nothing authentic in there sad excuse for an Italian Grill. Service is awful food is tasteless. If you want to throw your money away on crap eat at a Chilis.

My family loves Mike’s Pizza & Grill! Their pizza is great and everything on the menu is fresh and affordable. The breadsticks are some of the best I’ve had and we love the laid back atmosphere. Definitely give this place a try if you are in the Kokomo area. Far superior to the chain pizza places.
