Wish I was back in Kokomo sipping on some tea and enjoying a sausage and mushroom turnover. I could use a Bind Café in the DC area.

Just spent a pleasant morning at this lovely new café and bookstore in downtown Kokomo. I bought a mocha and a bacon quiche(both were excellent) and sat for an hour or so quietly reading and listening to the music coming from the record player in the corner. This café has great ambience. The room is large and open, and everything from the book displays to the furniture and the counter where you place your food and drink orders is inviting. My family and I dropped in here a few days ago right after it opened and also tried the giant ginger cookie – delicious! Deandra, the owner, is as friendly a hostess as one could wish for. She asked me about what I was reading and said she planned to order one of the titles I was reading(for her store, I believe). I also saw her take coffee across the street to a group of people who were standing in the cold at a booth in front of the courthouse. I look forward to spending many more mornings here from now on. Best of luck!

I love locally-owned, independent, small businesses and now we have a new one right in the heart of Kokomo. This place is just getting started and already the ambience in this beautiful, cozy spot is just what we’ve needed for years downtown. Now I have a place to bring my friends for great single-origin fair trade coffees, pastries by a local chef that are too die for, eclectic music and an interesting mix of folks to converse with over awesome books off the book stands in the adjoining Beyond Borders bookstore. I can’t wait to come back for more treats and to see the event line up of author events, discussions and gatherings!

I went to Bind Café in found that there was an amazing atmosphere with cool music playing. The books are great and the coffee is even better. I thought, «where could I go to get some coffee that I could feel good about drinking?» The coffee chosen by the owner is fair trade coffee. This means that the coffee is not made with forced labor and it is organic. The best part is that I didn’t have to pay S bcks prices like $ 5 for some coffee. Only 2 $ for a reg cup. There are so many things that Kokomo needs and this is definitely one of them. I can’t wait until I taste all of the yummy pastries and quiche selections. I had the tea, too. I think it was the flower tea and it was great
