Excellent breakfast buffet, and stellar service. Prices are reasonable for the resort area, and the food quality was definitely above average.

Every time I visit the Mauna Lani resort, I spend my morning at the restaurant having breakfast. The buffet has lots of options, so some items could be improved. The scrambled eggs are made from powder and have a strange taste/texture. The omelettes are drastically overcooked(there shouldn’t be any brown on cooked eggs!). Their fruit selection is fresh and delicious and I love the addition of the sautéed veggies. The view and atmosphere outside is positively lovely. Those who complain about the birds are silly! The staff work very hard to keep them away and will even provide a lid to your food if you need it. The birds make the whole experience more enjoyable!

We ate breakfast here 2 days in a row before we started venturing away from the hotel. I’m surprised the only reviews so far are for the buffet, which did look good, but average. First day I had the coconut panko crusted French toast and my wife had the luau benedict. Both were absolutely amazing! Fresh orange juice was the icing on the cake. 2nd day I had the breakfast tacos and she had the pancakes and eggs… Both were better than average. If I had to break down the days individually: 5 stars for both of us day one, and 4 stars for day two. Good service and amazing view of the beach from our table, but fairly pricey for breakfast… deserving of 5 stars. If you truly want to get the most from your experience here for breakfast, order from the menu.

I went to the ML Bay Terrace Restaurant for the Sunday crab feed. The price was not cheap, approximately $ 85 a person before wine and cocktails. The ads say snow crab and they were Bairdi which has very skinny legs and claws. The crab was tasty, you just have to work for it a little harder. The sushi was average at best and never replaced, so the good stuff was gone early. The roast beef was tough and flavorless. The salads were good. It’s a nice setting but I definitely expected more. I like the Mauna Lani and I’m sorry to say, I will not be going to this buffet again.

We ate dinner here on 8÷4÷14 and it was excellent! My husband, sister in law and I had the Braised Short Ribs –they were so tender and delicious –one of the best I have eaten. My father in law and son had the grilled fish meal and he enjoyed it a lot. We were a group of 9 and everyone enjoyed their meal –baby back ribs, onion soup, Ahi tuna, shrimp pasta. The wait staff here are so attentive and the hotel itself is really nice and serene. We also had the breakfast buffet here and did not have a problem with the birds and the food was great. The staff here are truly really genuinely sweet and care about their customers. We had Gerrie serve us at breakfast –wonderful lady!

Crab fest on Sundays: not worth the money and poor service to boot. I wouldn’t return.

I had the breakfast buffet here a few days. The made to order omelets were great, and the food was fresh at the buffet. I’m glad that the buffet was included in our meal because I don’t feel it was worth $ 70.00 for breakfast. Like many of have said before there are a lot of birds flying around near the buffet and often the birds are sneaking into the buffet area looking for scraps. Any dishes that are left unattended are quickly taken over by birds. My husband and I had dinner one night at the restaurant and the food wasn’t bad. the salad he had for dinner was beautifully done up except it was very substantial, it was more a few pieces of chicken with a couple pieces of lettuce.

My best friend decided to have her wedding at Mauna Lani and so the night before the big day we all got together and decided to grab a bite on property. The area of the restaurant is really nice and open. It overlooks the pools with the ocean further out. The menu was not too extensive. I tried the Shrimp Linguine. I was a little too preoccupied to take pictures of the food. I didn’t really care for it. It had a little too much tomato and the shrimp wasn’t the freshest. Overall, the place is nice but its not the best.

Breakfast buffet: 4 stars; great omelette bar Service: 4 stars Bird attacks: helluva problem!!! The Buffet breakfast at the Bay Terrace Restaurant was included in our deal for the Mauna Lani hotel. The omelette station was the most fun. The cook makes your custom omelette while you wait. I had jalapeños, green onions, spinach, cheese… yum! Also enjoyed the fresh ripe papaya. Dozens of fearless wild birds hover all around waiting to steal food. The second you leave your table or even look away, birds land on your table, eager for your breakfast. Birds even land at the breakfast buffet… I’ve seen birds sitting on the serving tongs, on the plates, and at the fruits in the buffet! One bird actually landed in a lady’s hair. O-; These birds are aggressive and hard to shoo away. Waving your green napkin in the air will scare them away for a few seconds. This is a health hazard and a nuisance. We were so busy defending our food from the birds that I barely noticed the beautiful view of the lawn and water. We wouldn’t have eaten here if it wasn’t already included in our room rate. I hope we don’t catch a new bird flu!!! Don’t eat anything that’s not covered, and use a clean fork or clean chopsticks instead of the serving tongs at the buffet. The bird problem is the reason for my low rating. Staff is friendly and they try to shoo the birds away. Food is good, especially fresh papaya and omelette station. But the OWNERS need to install SCREENS to keep birds out of the BUFFET! This is by far the worst bird problem I’ve ever seen at any restaurant ever.

This is the onsite dining area for the Mauna Lani resort. Most of the resort packages come with a free buffet breakfast, so this review is based on my experience having had that. They also offer a from-the-menu breakfast, and serve dinner as well. I have not tried either of those options. The Bay Terrace tries hard ton provided a hearty breakfast, even within the buffet. I tried nearly all of the items, including French toast, waffles, omelettes from the omelette bar, pastries, fresh fruit, bacon, and some Japanese offerings like dried seaweed and broiled fish. Everything tasted pretty good — nothing outstanding — but filling and diverse enough to mix it up a little bit each day you are here. The main complaint I have has to do with the number of feral birds that are constantly attempting to get to your food. You have Indian Mynahs, Asian doves, English house sparrows, and several others that I can’t identify from memory. But all of them want your bagel! So dining here is impossible if you’re by yourself. Once you leave the table to get a refill, they swoop in and feast furiously. Shooing them away is only partially effective, because they’re quite bold and will come and sit within a few feet of you waiting for you to turn your head for just a second. The only way to be able to eat in peace is to have a partner along to watch over your food while you’re gone.
