Good pizza in Knoxville is hard to come by and I certainly did not expect to find such delicious fare on Schaad Road. Honestly, it’s hard to find much good food in this part of North Knoxville, so when the pizza craving came, I figured I’d try out This Is It. Open on only Fridays and Saturdays, they offer a nice variety of fresh pizza options that come in one size. We settled on a veggie pizza and a tomato/mozzarella/basil. I wish I had a better sense of sizing, because I would have ordered at least one more for our group of three; one pizza will feed one hungry person. They were ready quickly for pick up and were very reasonably priced. The pizzas were absolutely delicious. The toppings were fresh and the crust was perfectly thin and crispy. We devoured them! If you ever get a chance to order from This Is It, do it as fast as you can and order more than you think you’ll need because it is just that tasty.

Excellent wood fired pizza! A break from the typical pizza franchises. Family friendly and inexpensive. Expect outdoor seating and call ahead to confirm they’re open.

Good Lord, yes. Inexpensive, delicious, fresh, homegrown pizzas. Call ahead to make sure they’re open and expect outdoor seating. Get the bean dip.

What an odd place to find one of my favorite pizzas in Knoxville! I live in the area, and very frequently use Schaad Road to travel to West Knoxville. One day I see a sign in the yard of a large house that says«THISISIT! PIZZA» Times they are a changing’ so I thought very little about this until I was at Rossini Festival a few weeks later in downtown Knoxville. My boyfriend and I were looking for the perfect lunch and instead of gyros, kebabs, or hot dog carts, we find an actual mobile wood-fired pizza oven slam-bam on Gay St. He orders a pizza and minutes later he’s devouring what he proclaims is one of the best pizzas he’s tasted in Knoxville. We chat with the vendor and put two and two together. «This IS it!». Ladies and Gents, this mobile wood-fired pizza oven a) travels to events but most importantly b) has a home and regular business hours in North Knoxville /Northwest /Powell area. From noonish til night-time on Fridays and Saturdays you can literally pull into a driveway next to a custom-made, top of the line pizza oven and get one of the best pies Knoxville has to offer. Check out their website for a menu. I recommend calling ahead, but be very honest about what time you will be arriving. They want your pizza to be hot and fresh, and these thin-crust pies cook quickly in the super hot oven. All pizzas are 10″ and I recommend one pizza for one person if it’s going to be your dinner. The crust is thin and cooks to a perfect crisp in some parts while maintaining a good chew on the outer crust. Sauce is delicious, cheese is perfect. My favorite is italian sausage with fresh basil. The pepperoni is good but last time was very sparse — one pepperoni per slice on two of the slices. The produce is home-grown. Of note — this is about 3 minutes with traffic lights to Powell Station(former Vic’s Beer Garden). It’s the perfect food to pick up, then drive down and enjoy a beer or cider while you eat. Supporting two local businesses, within your budget? Do it! Bön Appetit!
