The Joy of Music Youth Music School

As a musician and a broadcaster, the arts is very important to me. I have seen first hand the work that the Joy of Music School does in our community with kids who are underprivileged. Joy of Music School provides music lessons and instruments to children of families who cannot afford such luxuries. I use the term «luxury» because in most public school systems, the music and orchestra programs have been removed from the budget. I have personally visited Joy of Music School and have seen them in action. All the teachers are volunteers. The program has been life changing for many kids. Some students go on to major universities on music scholarships. For others it is an outlet from their daily lives, and for some it is simply a way to stay out of trouble. In any case, this is a cause worth funding. I would highly recommend The Joy of Music School on multiple levels. I am a proud supporter.

Great mission and impressive kids that are full of talent. This is such a unique place not just for Knoxville, but for the entire country. A perfect example of what the arts can do in a community and how kids can blossom when their creativity is supported and nurtured.
This really is a great model of something that we need to have in communities across the country. As our public schools fail and drop programs that encourage music and the arts these are the types of non-​profits that will need to step in and fill the role.
