It was fine. The staff was super friendly and the service was fast. The pizza was fine. The restaurant was extremely dirty, which brings my stars down(if it’s that dirty where customers sit, what’s it like in the kitchen?). I wish I would’ve tried the Indian food, since many reviewers said it was great, but I was in the mood for pizza.

Got the saag paneer for takeout. Bits of it were still frozen. The naan was just a ready made frozen pizza crust. Yuck

We ordered Indian food — some saag paneer with naan. The saag is a lot runnier than I’ve had from other restaurants. You can see the oil globules in it, if that bothers you. This must be a place you should only order pizza — I do not think they would still be around if for the Indian food. Which is sad. Pros: It’s not the worst Indian food I’ve ever had. I asked for spicy, and it was spicy. Cons: Tastes like it was made days ago, frozen, then reheated when we ordered it. There were icy chunks in one of the orders. The meals were $ 10 a piece, but did not come with rice. The naan that came with the orders instead of rice, it was not naan… the naan was pizza dough, and it did not look especially homemade to me. I am disappointed because they are not the same thing, even if you brush one with garlic butter.

Pizza is excellent, they make their own dough too! Try the chicken, not spicy, great flavor. Really nice people that own it! I’d post pictures but ate it all before I thought of it!

The pizza here is excellent and is reasonably priced. This is not quite New York style pizza, but take it from a New Yorker: it doesn’t matter. The quality of the toppings is top notch, and the pizza has plentiful and delicious sauce and cheese. The crust is perfect. Also, the owner is exceptionally warm and friendly. The pizza is prepared fresh from scratch and comes out pretty quickly. Fantastic place. They also serve Indian food, which other posters have said is super delicious. Indian cuisine requires talent to prepare properly, so that may help explain why the Italian pizza is so well made. DONOT go to Dazzo’s and waste your time and money! A large plain pizza here costs $ 10, where as at Dazzo’s, it is $ 16, and no, Dazzo’s so-called 18 inch pizza is not bigger than Red Onion’s. Red Onion does not claim that their large pizza is 18 inches, but it is indeed large enough to share with at least two people. I will be back to Red Onion!

We stopped at the Red Onion Pizza on our way home from Atlanta during the Christmas break. The owners were very friendly. We ordered a couple of pizzas(yummy halal toppings) for take out. While we waited I talked to the owner and she mentioned that they had run the pizza joint for over 26 years. If an establishment can last that long, you know it is doing something right.

Salads are small. The building is rough looking inside and out but food is great. I will return just hoping they clean a little.

Awesome service and great pizzas! The Mediterranean is to die for and don’t forget the cheesestix — some of the best in town!

The other night I had my boyfriend pick up dinner from Red Onion. We’ve been moving for 2 days straight and were exhausted and starving. The food was absolutely amazing. It’s a step above traditional take out. Great flavors and smells and taste like heaven. The chicken was juicy and tender. The beef curry dish left me wishing I had more. The naan bread was so soft and savory. We also had the Greek salad which was really good and I recommend it. I’ll be ordering from this fine establishment again. They know what they’re doing.

I thought that I remembered the pizza and service being good at Red Onion. When I ordered two pizzas recently, I was given an incorrect order and later found a long hair baked into one of the pizzas. When I called Shahid, the manager, to ask him about the situation, he told me that«there was no way» I could find a hair in his pizza. Additionally, he stated that he intentionally made me a cheese pizza instead of pepperoni without telling me. Shahid was rude, belittling, and did not help with our situation in any way. He wanted the two pizzas returned in order to even speak to me about the issue. He then hung up on me. I would not recommend this poor customer service to anyone.

Surprisingly good. From the outside, and the pictures posted on the inside, I was a bit skeptical. But the pizza we ordered was quite delicious! I have a friend who orders the Indian food here, and he said it’s pretty delicious as well. The prices for the Indian food was a bit on the higher end compared to a large pizza. But the pizza was delicious! crust was hand-tossed and fresh. They also gave you a garlic sauce for dipping. I will definitely come back and try other things on the menu!

Maybe it’s not fair to review a pizza place when you haven’t tried the pizza. For all I know, Red Onion makes the best pizza on the planet. I couldn’t say. I stopped in at 1:30 pm on a Saturday and found I was the only patron. I tried a meatball sub($ 6.49) and a Coke(can, 75 cents). The sub was okay. It was nicely toasted, but the meatballs themselves seemed a trifle bland. The can of Coke was a can of Coke. One thing that troubled me: despite the place being otherwise empty, the one other table that had been used had not been cleared. Remnants of someone else’s pizza meal, along with assorted trash, just lay there waiting. It was still there when I left. Were they too busy to clean it up? I think not. As much as I’d like to support locally-owned, independent businesses, I think it’s fair to expect they make an effort. A satellite-fed widescreen TV is mounted on one wall. That seems incongruous. Red Onion has more the feel of a place where, y’know, you’d drop a dime in the box and play a song about New Orleans. But at least it kept the place from seeming like a tomb when otherwise empty. On the plus side, the sub I had was not bad(if not awesome, either), the prices are friendly, and they do deliver in a limited local area. So I expect I’ll get around to trying the pizza when I have the chance. There’s ample parking, at least when the place is empty. Red Onion Pizza is closed on Sundays.

I used to live in a neighborhood close to Red Onion. I have only tried the pizza and bread sticks. I always meant to branch out and order other things but can’t! It is so so so good! I like to support locally owned«mom and pop» businesses. I encourage people to try this restaurant! You will not be disappointed!

This place is a hidden gem in Knoxville. I remember when they first opened their doors. They provided well-made pizzas, but I just recently visited and the place has changed. The quality of the pizzas have grown exponentially and now is the place I go for excellent hand tossed pizza. But if you come here, get the tandoori chicken and you can’t go wrong. I know it’s a pizza place but I stop by just for the chicken. If you have a tongue for spices, the kebabs are great(but again, a warning to those who are not up for strong spices, it wont be for you).
