I’ve been going to Brynn since the early days of Lox, so about ten years. I always look forward to the experience and always leave happy. I always get lots of compliments on my hair and try to send people Brynn’s way. She’s attentive to detail and makes sure you love your cut and color. She does a great job with my fine, thin hair. The staff at the salon is always friendly and attentive.

Brynn is THE best! Everyone who works there is pleasant and professional, and worth every penny. They are amazing with my young children and actually listen when you say what you want. Awesome service!

Where to begin?! The interior of Lox is awesome, tons of character and very welcoming. They change the art on the walls every few weeks with another local artists work and there’s a small shop within the salon. I just moved to Knoxville and one of the first things on my «to-​do» list was find a salon. I found Lox on Unilocal and made an appointment with Jade, I’m so happy I did she’s awesome, she really accomplished everything I wanted in my color and cut and am looking forward to going back to her when I need to get my hair done again.

Had my first appointment with Melissa for a cut and base color. She was very friendly and knowledgeable and really took the time to answer all of my questions. She also checked in with me throughout the whole process to make sure I was still happy with the color and cut. Would highly recommend her. Really cool interior and friendly receptionists as well. I was able to get an appointment the same day I called. They also offer student discounts, which is definitely a plus. The prices were reasonable and I found the service to be on par with other high-​end salons I’ve gone to.

Had the afternoon in Knoxville so decided to go out on a limb, take a chance, jump in with both feet, live on the edge… you catch my drift. Getting your haircut in a strange city by a stranger is scary!
Chelsea at LOX was so awesome and immediately made me feel like I had nothing to worry about. She listened to what I wanted my hair to end up like, looked at some pics I showed her as examples and without hesitation took the shears to my hair!
The result is amazing, I love my new shorter bob and as a bonus I had a great time chatting with her. If I lived here in Knoxville LOX (and Chelsea) would be my go to hair place. When I’m due for a trim I might just have to find a way back to Tennessee.

Lox is so awesome! My husband gets his hair cut here every month and raves about the stylists. I tried Lox out for the first time at a Unilocal event and loved every second. Brynn gave me a cut that works with the texture of my hair which is usually not easy to do. She also helped me pick out products that have tamed my mane and gave me a couple samples of some other things. The quality of the products they use is extremely high. Brynn was super easy to talk to about what I wanted with my hair and just about life in general, I felt very comfortable with her.
I got my nails done with Porsche. I love her! She had me laughing the entire time and that is very important when you are spending one on one time that close. She did a little nail art that looked fantastic. I cannot wait to go back and get a shellac mani with her and convince her to be my BFF.
Such a great space with wonderful people. Special shout out to Erin, the coordinator, she was one of the nicest people I have ever met!
I will definitely be back!

I was invited to this salon via a Unilocal event, and it was actually the first time I’d ever been here despite living one block away. The space was great and everyone I met was so damn nice!
Full disclosure: my heart belongs to another salon. I have been loyal to my current stylist for roughly a decade; however, I’ve received word that he will be moving in about a year, so I’m already starting the search. I really like this place. I have no idea how I’ll decide which stylist I’ll go to, but I love the place. The space is awesome and everything is so inviting. I’m looking forward to giving the stylists a try.
One thing that there will be no delay on though: Mandi the masseuse. This was the highlight of my visit! The massage was incredibly awesome. It had admittedly been a while since I’ve had a massage, but man, did it hit the spot. I can’t wait to make an appointment and go back. She was both fantastic and firm, which is necessary. Highly recommend!

Porscha did a fantastic job with my nails and I can tell that the color is going to last. She was also really sweet! I highly recommend seeing her.
Lauren worked on my hair and specializes in curly hair. I don’t really have curly hair as much as super thick, coarse, giant hair. In any case, she did a great job with a wash and blowout and I did like the products she put on my hair. I didn’t get a haircut or color to comment on those services for myself but everyone who did looked great.
The location here is either a pro or a con depending on your perspective. The interior is absolutely amazing, but parking is a bit tricky. You can park a few blocks away under the bridge, which is not bad at all, but you may not want to walk quite so far on freshly-​pedicured toes. However, if you work or live nearby, it has to be very convenient.
Overall I’d recommend it!

I’m new in town and discovered this salon via Unilocal.I have to say I’m very happy with their services after Megan cut my hair for the second time now. The salon itself is interesting and felt cool being inside it. I’m giving this place 4 stars for now. I think I need to visit a few more times and decide whether they should be rated higher or lower.

Moved to Knoxville back in November of 2014… Meaning I had to find a new place to g et my hair cut, good thing found this place! The hair dressers are fantastic, awesome atmosphere and they really take care of their customers. Beverages are offered after you check in, which is nice too. It’s too bad that I am moving to South Carolina next month, but I will never forget about the awesome service and hair cuts that I had at LOX.

Was referred by a gal at the Tomato Head eatery and glad I listened to her! Love this cute place. Seem to always be busy with great staff. Amanda did my hair and she did an amazing job! My hair was so long and weighing me down. She put some layers in and made it young and fresh.
Kat did my fiancé, Corys hair. Dapper look. Looks awesome. He has seen her 2x now. All is all great spot located down in old city!

This is my second experience at Lox and I’ve never been disappointed. My cut and updo by Ben was awesome! Everyone is really nice and the salon is fun and trendy. Will definitely come back

Jade works magic for me and all of my best friends. She has a fantastic eye and is great with color. The staff are always friendly and even squished me in when I had an important occasion but had booked the wrong date! Seriously, such a relaxing [yet hip] experience every time.

Having your hair cut can either go really well, or terrible depending on who does it. That said, I have been getting my hair cut at Lox for years, and fully trust them to the best with what I’ve got to work with.
It started as a business transaction, but the shop is a cool one, and the whole crew is amazingly nice, that these people at the top of their craft have become friends along the way. We have established a report together that has given me the comfort, especially with Brynn, to say «Go nuts!», and I can trust that I’ll always be happy with what I walk out with.
Erin does a great job running the front, and taking great care of everyone that comes in, they play great music, and have something to drink while you enjoy yourself. I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Not only is the shop historic, hip, and comfortable. But they make your hair look great every time. It’s a no brainer.

I’m just gonna say it! I don’t mean to out her, but Brynn just might be a super hero. She works some serious magic with those scissors… and with an alarming finesse. A year ago I had a pixie cut and today my hair rests just shy of my shoulders. Brynn has been with me every step of the way and I can honestly say that I have not had one single second of that weird, unbearable, awkward grow process. She always listens to me and delivers exactly what I am asking for. No one else gets close to my hair with scissors! This is what finding your hair cutting soul mate feels like!
The salon is adorable! The staff is adorable and all of them are ridiculously talented. My Mister also gets his hair cut at Lox. Benjamin even has his own line of products for men that are amazing! (

Lox also participates in First Friday. Each month you will find a local artist’s work donning the walls. You can even find lots of jewelry also made by local artists.

I’ve been coming to Lox for a little over 2 years now and I’m so happy with this salon. Liv is my current stylist (I used Lara until she moved then switched to Liv). My hair looks fantastic and I constantly get compliments. Prices are standard for an upscale salon and not unreasonable. You can see them online on their online booking system so there are no hidden fees.
Everyone is so friendly here and I ADORE the online booking system. There is also and app called vagaro that you can book on your iPhone with and set up reminders and sync to your calendar. Love it! It makes scheduling a breeze!
Anytime I have had the tiniest smallest issue they have comped something — for example one day the hot water ran out when they were rinsing my hair so they comped my eyebrow wax!
I’ve also recently started using Katelyn for facials and waxing and love her as well!
Atmosphere is a combination of old world and modern loft.
Overall: Definitely recommended!

I had a bad experience. I just wanted a cut and partial. I had my hair done by Brynn. She ended up coloring, cutting, and doing a partial. I had no idea it would end up being $ 170! Also, I said I wanted my highlights to look natural. I went left the salon and my highlights are so stringy and bright. I’m not going back. I was expecting to pay $ 100. Never have I ever paid $ 170 plus a tip for my hair. That’s a ridiculous amount of money. Especially because I was saying how I was on a budget.

i recently went into a salon and had my hair colored and decided that i needed a new style, the girl straightened my hair (chemically) and decided it wasn’t straight enough so she did it
from California so im not familiar with salons in
totally fried my hair it was like a wet noodle and slimy, i looked online and read the reviews and decided to try the lox. the people were so courteous and friendly and very sympathetic cut my hair and as much as she hated to we had to cut it very, very short,
i just want to say thank you to Lara and the staff for being there in my time if need and will definitely be getting my hair done there from now on. if you are looking for a place that does a good job then you should try the lox i also got to see several other people get there hair cut and they all looked awesome… oh ya and there price is awesome

Really unprofessional people.
Had an appointment for 4 pm and was sitting there till 4.45pm. When I asked the lady at the reception about the delay, she just shrugged and gave me a «Don’t waste my time» look and told me that stuff happens and if I wanted to reschedule it was fine with her. She did not even have the courtesy to come and let me know that it was going to take a while. Finally, Brynn (hair stylist and owner of Lox) was free to cut my hair. When I told her about what happened, she wasn’t too fussed either and asked me if I wanted to reschedule. This is after an hour of waiting!
I had specifically cleared my evening for the hair cut so I went ahead with it. Brynn took less than 25 minutes for the entire wash and cut; a process she normally takes atleast 45 minutes.
I have been cutting my hair here since more than a year and its been changing eventually and commercializing. Brynn does not care any more, which is sad; as she will end up losing her regulars. Miss the old charm thats been lost.
Would not recommend this place any more.
