I was at Jo-Ann’s on Sat. Feb. 6, 2016. There were 3 ladies at the cutting counter taking care of the customers, which there was many. A lady wanted to just get a sample of a high dollar roll material and she did not want to wait her turn. She put up a fuss and kept returning to the counter to see if they would just cut her a sample, after all she thought it was a matter of taking the scissors in hand and snip snip. That was not the case. When her number did come up, they had to take the material to a special cutter to cut the sample off. I spoke to the employee and she was very kind and not complaining about the situation. She simply told me that she would have lost her job if she had cut the sample on a number out of turn. I’m was upset about the lady thinking her time was more valuable than everyone there. The employees handled the matter in a very pleasant matter. Hurrah for them.

There are many other small business fabric/​yarn stores that I would rather give my money to in Knoxville. Granted, some times you need something specific, and that is when shopping at a corporate business is the only option. ALWAYS get on your smart phone and go to joann coupons-​there is at least always a 50% off regular price coupon. Also if you are a student or teacher sign up for their 10% card. There is also a location in East Knoxville next to the target!

This place is good for really one thing and that’s in it’s name: fabrics.
As far as crafts or anything else is concerned, you are much better off with another big name store. I came in looking for stickers. Their TINY section was mainly holiday related and way overpriced. I shouldn’t even mention their alphabet stickers. Black and white. Where is all the color?
They have an «okay» section of fancy tape (craft tape, it has several names) but again it is way overpriced. The only way you can get something good is if they have any good coupons on their app.
I did give them three stars and that is because at times, and I have to stay this is very rare, they do have black canvases on sale for extremely cheap prices.
I’ll give this place a once over every now and then but I’ll stick with Michaels for crafts and art supplies.
