I love this new place. Very good selection of bourbon, whiskey, and beer. The food was MUCH better than expected. Great place!

Who knew Knoxville, TN had a fun downtown? This being our first visit, we didn’t expect much of the town but Clancy’s was our first bar stop. For a weeknight, the place was pretty busy but we found a table easily. Our waitress was attentive and nice. She explained what some of the local brews were and gave good suggestions. The ambiance was relaxed and had the feel of old Irish pub. The rock music was loud but not too loud that you couldn’t have a conversation. You gotta love a pub that plays early Black Sabbath. If we ever come to Knoxville again, this will definitely be on our places to visit.

My wife and I rarely make a trip downtown without a stop at Clancy’s. It’s a nice Irish style pub with good food and drinks. The bartenders know their stuff and service is usually great. It’s also convenient to just about everything downtown. If you’re looking for a good place to relax and grab a few for a couple hours this place is always a good bet.

Wow, I have been all over Knoxville eating. I have been all over the US eating and I have never had McDonalds French fries really, really served with my fish and chips in a restaurant. Cold quickly and the fish was over cooked and chewy. The wedge salad… came with maybe 5 sprinkles of bacon and Hidden Valley blue cheese, ew. The whiskey selection is fabulous! Other than that forget it. Jig and Reel has you beat by far on food, by far and service since our salads came with our main course. So disappointing!

Service was great but the food was sub-par. I got the chicken fingers and fries and my buddy got the potato skins. Both were sub-par and technically I’m not picky at all.

Good food. Great drinks. Wonderful atmosphere. If you’re looking for a great, not so busy place to unwind, Clancy’s is a great place to be!

I dropped in for lunch today and though I’d prefer to have reviewed a meal of traditional Irish fare I only had time for a quick sandwich, in this case the Northshore roast beef. I have to say I was disappointed as I could have gotten a similar meal at the nearby Subway and spent a lot less money. The beef was like what you’d buy at Kroger or Wallymart on an onion bun… the sandwich was nothing special. I’ll try the place again for a more traditional dish(I’m always on the look-out for good bangers & mash or shepard’s pie) when I have time and hopefully Clancy’s will impress me then.

Three of us(two adults, one child) had Sunday lunch at Clancy’s before a movie at the Tennessee Theater. The place was not crowded whatsoever(as a bar would be in the Bible Belt after Sunday church I suppose) but the atmosphere was pleasant, the food was well-prepared, and the service was snappy and friendly. I had the PB&J(Pimento Cheese, Bacon, and Jalapeño sandwich) and was so happy I did – a treat for the palette, though I’m not a pimento cheese lover – I really could not recommend it enough. Their menu is diverse enough(with enough customer options) that you could eat dozens of times without having the same sandwich or salad twice – such a refreshing approach to a menu that I look forward to many more meals there.

Had Friday special Irish Pizza which was unique and delicious, due to the salty, pretzel-like dough they use for it. Service was fast and excellent and the food came through quickly. And the bartender knew how to pour a stout, which is always a big plus. No practical complaints for my first visit. Great beer and whisky/ey selection. The place was a bit noisy for an Irish styled tavern due to the volume of the music playing, but not everyone prefers a quiet pub so I won’t penalize them too much for it. The atmosphere was pleasing, otherwise.

Great Irish Bar off of Gay Street. I have typically gone for the music entertainment. They typically bring in local bands. The bar is huge and the food is great. I have eaten here a few times. Great place to go to with friends to grab a beer and enjoy the music. They have a couple of Ciders on tap which some of our friends like so there is a little bit of something for everyone.

Not my favorite place… Food was bad… Ciabatta bread was a hamburger bread, potato skins more like burnt cardboard. We asked the waitress to bring us new potato skins and she did but they were the exact same. Happy hour was nice $ 1 off all 20oz drafts. Probably will not go back :/

Good whiskey, decent food, but iffy service. If you get the right bartender, it’s a fantastic place to go. If you get the wrong one, you may end up waiting forever to get some attention or(worse) in one instance, you may end up having your tip jacked up from 20% to over 50%(this was corrected by the management and I have not seen the bartender in question since this incident). The bar is absolutely stunning. Very beautiful. Food to eat: Fish and Chips(very good); Wings(good stuff, big juicy wings); daily special sandwiches.

One of Knoxville’s newest spots on Gay Street right next to the Tennessee Theatre. Grab a quick bite before seeing a show there or at the Bijou. They have some great bands come through as well. The beer cheese is quite delicious. Need a small salad this is the perfect spot. seriously. The chips with blue cheese are also yummy. Grab a pint or a scotch and call it a day.

Excellent Irish Pub. When I say that I don’t mean you typical American Irish pub. This one could fit it over in Ireland. The reason for this is simple: it is a bar. That is its primary function. However, they also happen to serve very good, if limited, food. This is not designed to be a tourist destination. It is meant to be your local watering hole. It is a great place to eat and hang out before an event at the Tennessee or Bijou theaters. Their Irish Boxty and Hummus appetizer is absolutely the best thing. They will also let you create any sandwich you like with the ingredients they have on hand. Best Irish Whiskey selection in Knoxville by far.

I didn’t know what to expect from this watering hole that shared the optomitrist practice that preceded it, but the vibe was cool, the staff was enthusiastic and helpful, and the food was delicious!

Three stars for the absolutely beautiful bar and the space in general. It’s comfortable and lends itself to socializing at tables, but also late night when it’s packed and people are standing. Two stars for everything else. I thought the food was just gross, and the service mediocre. I ate only 3 bites of my sandwich, which came with some stale chip crumbles(like the kind when you get to the bottom of the bag), and my server didn’t bother to ask why or if it was OK. We finished drinks and walked to a better spot for dinner. Their happy hour prices are OK, not the best but not bad. I echo the sentiments of another review who is pining for a better beer selection. It’s just the same average stuff you can get anywhere; it would be fun if they would put more into that. Overall this experience, as well as one follow up visit, just did not hit the spot.

My husband and I go here quite often. The bar manager knows way too much to just be a bar manager, but is obviously in the field he loves. Very impressed with the bar itself — all hand carved wood and beautiful also. The food is pub food, but good if you are hungry. Dos Perros on tap(which you NEVERFIND)!
