Austin’s Steak and Homestyle Buffet

THIS IS SO NOT YOUR TYPICAL BUFFET, IT IS A CUT ABOVE!
It is a Sunday afternoon and we are looking for a quiet place for dinner. After exploring the Unilocal options, Austin’s and a couple of other options pop up. I mentally dismissed the idea of a a buffet because I just don’t eat at buffets and my husband had just eaten from the buffet at breakfast. I prefer to order from the menu because I want it very fresh and made to order. Even when visiting the «City of Buffets» (Gatlinburg), I will choose to cook my own food before I succumb to the pressure.
So imagine my reaction when my husband announces he wants to eat at a buffet. I simply keep checking for options while avoiding eye contact. I eventually look up and he is giving me that «I see you face» and I acquiesce because I really don’t have a passionate alternative and I can tell that he really wants to eat at this buffet. I say a prayer and off we go.
Upon entering I request to see the bar before making a firm decision. Hmmm, looks clean, has veggies and a nice selection. I ask if the mashed potatoes are authentic and they are. We choose bench seating next to a window and proceed to the buffet. The choices are endless, fried and grilled chicken, prime rib (carved in a separate area), fish, seafood, ribs, meatloaf, baked yams/​white potatoes, cabbage, greens, broccoli casserole, mac and cheese, rice, spinach and other hot options.
Yes, there is a salad bar that features fresh greens and vegetables with prepared pasta salads as well.
The dessert bar features apple and cherry cobbler, marshmellow treats, brownies, cookies and ice cream that tastes like it was made in the backyard during the 4^th of July picnic. This ice cream is soft serve from the dispenser and there are assorted toppings available.
I tried a variety of foods but I was most impressed with the ribs and the greens. The ribs were meaty, tender and perfectly seasoned to the bone and the greens were deliciously seasoned. They are always a good choice because they can never be over cooked which is always a concern with vegetables. Not only were those mashed potatoes authentic, they actually left the red skin on the potatoes and that is a great touch. My husband and I shared a serving of apple cobbler a la mode and it was the perfect finisher.
Regardless of your tastes or preferences, there is something on this bar that will address those preferences and leave you more than satisfied. Wait staff is very attentive, constantly removing soiled plates, cleaning the bar and replacing foods and checking in with their customers throughout the meal. This is a great place for a family, corporate, or social gatherings because of the vast options and great service.
We slowly make our way back to the hotel and fall into bed because we are too full to sit up. Now we get to pretend like it’s Thanksgiving and spend the next couple of hours reminiscing about that surprisingly delicious meal.
For what they are and what they delivered, I have to give them five stars. I have not eaten at a buffet since the nineties because they usually just don’t measure up. However, this buffet is a cut above others and definitely worth a return visit.

I don’t really like buffets of any kind, but this place truly does cook some home cooked food for their buffet. Their food looks good and tastes great. I was very surprised at how good everything was. Price is the same as Golden Corral, which they suck by the way.

My family happened to be *HUGE* fans of Range House off Broadway in N. Knoxville and were devastated when it closed down. When I posted a review stating as such, I was thrilled to not only discover that the owners of Range House were also the owners of this place, but that it’s right down the street as well! (RH was a bit of a drive). My son and I go as often as possible because eating there is like having a home cooked meal. I love their chicken tenders and fried chicken. I also love the variety that is available on the salad bar. We’ll definitely be back!

The absolute best! Everything was clean, everyone was really friendly and it was fairly inexpensive $ 45 plus tip and tax for 1 kid and 3 adults.
Today is Tuesday and they had prime rib which I’ve liked in some places and was worried that at a buffet place it would be all fat and grissle, it was perfection! Cooked perfectly, with absolutely no fat or grissle. I asked for 4 slices for our table and they happily loaded up a plate for me!!! I have 2 fairly picky girls and both were raving about this place. The teenager even gave them a review on her Facebook page!
Way better than most buffet places, and honestly, it was better than a lot of places where I have ordered a meal before.
We were really wishing we were gonna be in town longer so we could go there again tomorrow for dinner, lol.
P. s. they had the green pistachio stuff that my mom used to make when I was a kid! She’s the ONLY person that I have 3ver seen make it and it tasted like she made it!

Austin’s Buffet is really good. I went there because I had a coupon and was pleasantly surprised with the freshness and variety of home style cooking they offer. You can add a freshly grilled sirloin to your buffet for only a dollar, which is a great deal. Their buffet hasn’t really changed much over the past year or so and includes some of the best chicken tenders I have had in a while, delicious cat fish and hush puppies, spinach maria, and fresh rolls among alot of other things. The selection is not as large as a chain buffet like Ryan’s or Golden Carrol, but the QUALITY is leaps and bounds over those places. Excellent salad and dessert bars as well. This is one of the only buffets that I would visit twice.

This use to be the Great American Steak and Buffet which was ok, but now as Austins its fabulous. The food on the buffet is kept fresh and piled high. I have not seen a better prepped buffet in all my years. A+

A pretty good place at a fair price. The Bourbon Street Chicken is a personal favorite. The Mac and Cheese leaves a lot to be desired. It used to be creamy and good, lately it is oily and nasty. It is probably up to par with most any all-​you-​can-​eat buffet type of place.

I walk into every buffet with a great deal of trepidation, with expectations at rock bottom. I only decided to come here because of the Unilocal reviews, which seemed too good to be true.
I have never been happier to be wrong, this place is like eating at grandma’s house. Excellent home style food that you can tell was actually cooked there and didn’t come from a can.

Great buffet and fast friendly service. I never heard of Austins until about a week ago when my co workers decided to reserve a room here for a retirement party for my boss.
Their parking lot is just the right size if you ask me. I parked on the far right and had no problem parking here.
Their buffet was about $ 11 on a Saturday afternoon about 1pm. Their drinks are about $ 2.
Some of the food on their buffet that I got were; ham, okra, corn, green beans, fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy. The deserts that I gut were cherry pie and blackberry pie. This was all good and I really enjoyed my buffet with my co workers and meeting by boss one last time.
In summary, I never heard of Austins but I would come back,

omg! this is the best buffet ever! under 12 dollars all you can eat southern buffet. Most of the items were excellent. The rolls with butter were fresh and great. Peach cobbler was a good dessert. The parking lot is always full, mainly with elderly people coming in. I guess this means that you will live a long time if you eat here? LOL only downside is calories. If you eat here frequently, you will be the size of a blimp, so I will likely only visit once a month and then work out for 3 hours afterward. But the food? really good:)

OMG! two words «pot roast»! Better than moms! better than grandmas! better than great great grandma’s! Mashed potatoes are real and delicious! gravy is homemade and delicious ! The mac and cheese (2 different kinds) is tasty and edible, unlike most restaurants. Their dessert bar is below par, but who cares when you can have pot roast for dessert! And in case I haven’t mentioned it yet the pot roast is excellent! The night manager Nate, is jovial, plays well with others and is accessible and in check with his team! All you can eat for 12 bucks of the most incredible home cooked food, what a deal!

Very Tasty! The turkey was perfect, the fried chicken awesome, pot roast tender and seasoned just right and the sides were flavorful and well made. I’m a big fan of the greens and fried chicken livers, too. Desserts weren’t terrible but could use a bit more work as they were a tad bland. Buffet for two w/​of steak or drinks was $ 25.54…and totally worth it! We’ll be back!

Very good place if really hungry. Got the rib eye which was tender and cooked as liked. Husband had the buffet with rubs that fell off the bone. Desserts too many ti mention. Easy access to 75

All the food was great not a wide selection on the Buffett compared to others but everything served was great the ice cream is amazing if u get the Buffett u can get a sirloin for 2.99 it was tender cooked perfectly to order and seasoned very well would recommend

We had a dinner here after a funeral for a party of 45. The staff was excellent and although it was a big Game week, they accommodated us with no issues. The food was excellent and fresh. Drinks and refills served quickly. Overall a great experience for the entire family. I highly recommend this establishment.
