Ate there once on a «to go» order. Wasn’t too bad at all and it was priced reasonably. Would eat there again. Sorry can’t rate on the service, since it was takeout. I would imagine with the small town feel it would be good service.

Wonderful BBQ and they give you large portions for a good price. Their coleslaw is also to die for!

This is the way BBQ is supposed to taste! I ate here yesterday afternoon and was very pleased with my experience. It was a slow Monday and we were the only ones in the place, but this is a hidden gem! If you are in Knob Noster definitely give this spot a visit. Exactly what I was looking for in a great small town barbecue place. Friendly service. Casual dining area. Great food. Started with the fried pickles. Amazing! Only complaint I have is that for the $ 5.95 I would have liked a larger portion, but that is only a minor complaint. They were great! The pulled pork was excellent! Good portion for the price. Moist, flavorful, just great. Loved all of the barbecue sauces. Original, spicy, and mustard sauce. All tasted unique and I wanted to bring them all back home. Great place to visit if you are looking for the«real thing» in BBQ. Definitely will return.

The BBQ here isn’t too bad, but it’s nothing to write home about(it’s kinda hard to really mess up BBQ). I generally get the brisket or turkey sandwich with regular fries(the sweet potato fries are a miss). The pulled pork is ok, but their ribs are a complete miss for me as well. Just personally not a fan of the flavor profile on them… or lack thereof. At least it is real smoked BBQ, and their sauces are pretty damn good! The place itself is kinda bland, and sometimes I think they need a little better ventilation cause the dining area will occasionally look like a foggy road. Yeah, I know it’s a BBQ joint but it can be a little over the top sometimes. The menu is pretty basic, and they really don’t have anything that stands out as a must try. Like I said, just average ok BBQ. Surprisingly, this is one of the only local BBQ joints in this immediate area that isn’t a chain. I would recommend going here for lunch only as Knob Noster is pretty dead in the evenings. I’ve never gone here for dinner, but drove by enough times to know that there isn’t much business at that time of day so I couldn’t tell you how fresh the dinner time BBQ is.

The meet is excellent. Staff is nice. The food is great. Best baked BBQ beans in the state! Locals and Air Force base personnel frequently eat here. Very tasty smoked meats. Like a fun date, it’s hot, Fast and cheap.

We ate here while visiting my sister for family weekend at UCM. We drove over from Warrensburg to avoid the football crowds & families there. I definitely don’t regret the decision. The food was excellent! The portions were quite generous for the price. Four of the five people in our party took home leftovers. It was some of the best pulled pork I’ve ever had — moist, tender, & very flavorful. I heard the same about the beef brisket from others in my party. The sweet potato & traditional fries were cooked perfectly. The sweet potato fries were well-cooked, but still tender. The traditional fries were crispy, but not over done or grainy. The sauces were all tasty. The mustard sauce was unique, the spicy sauce wasn’t too spicy, & the sweet sauce is exactly what I look for in a BBQ sauce. That all said, the service could have been a little better. Once we got our ticket, we sat and chatted for a bit & had to wait to refill our drinks before leaving.

I thought this place was excellent, ate it a few times while working at WAFB. The brisket sandwich was on point and the sausage was just alright, but nothing amazing. I don’t really like paying extra for more bbq sauce, but that seems to be the norm around there.

Living in Knob Noster, I like to try and support the local businesses. Luckily, with this place I don’t have to «try,» it is actually really enjoyable. The place isn’t fancy and it’s not the best your ever going to have, but their sandwiches are delicious and their spicy sauce is great. Although not consistent, their Sweet potato fries are sometimes exceptionally great. If it was a bigger town, I might rate them a 4 out of 5, but one has to be realistic about where a business is located and how many customers they are set up to serve. It gets packed during lunch time and that is what their business is going for, not to be a hit place on a Friday night. Recommendation: either the brisket sandwich or turkey. Their BBQ is served drier than you might expect, so you will want to add on their spicy sauce. I actually like this better than them choosing to smother their meats in a sauce that you might not like. Their regular BBQ sauce isn’t very impressive and the other is too sweet, but the spicy is just right.

Not awful, but not very good. Stopped in on a snowy Friday evening for dinner. I don’t know if the weather kept folks away or what, but the place was desolate save myself and my dining partner, who happened to be my nigh-upon-blind-and-deaf grandfather. On a Friday night! Seemed a bit odd. We weren’t sure how it worked. There was a buffet-looking setup near the back of the restaurant, and the only employee in sight was standing behind it, so we walked up to it assuming that was the routine. It wasn’t. «Um,» the high school-aged employee began awkwardly, «are you… um, do you want to dine in?» Yes, we did. Grandpa couldn’t hear her, and gave her his trademark funky squint-eye that essentially means he couldn’t make out what you said. I handled it, and we were unceremoniously waved over to the dining area and advised that we could sit wherever. We picked out a table and had a seat, and were promptly handed a couple menus. The selections looked decent, although the menu was comprised almost exclusively of sandwiches with one meat selection. No plates, no meat combos. Pity, as I gravitate toward multiple meats when at a new BBQ place – more expensive, generally, but you get to try a bit of everything. I settled on ribs, and Gramps went for the pulled pork. We both got fries. A variety of BBQ sauces, along with ketchup, were unceremoniously deposited on the table. I tried them all, because that’s what I do, and they were all OK. The mustardy sauce read more like honey mustard that you’d get in a packet with McNuggets, and the standard sauce was extremely sweet. The hot sauce was pretty darn good, though. The food took a peculiarly long time, and the wait was punctuated by a kitchen staff that found itself hilarious, their peals of laughter tearing through the otherwise silent dining room. As far as I could tell, the kitchen staff was comprised entirely of the Knob Noster High School football team, and they all have future careers in comedy. Maybe I spent too many of my formative years in below-average restaurant kitchens, but nothing makes me more nervous than laughing teenagers making food! When it finally arrived, the food was not awful. Neither was it particularly good. Gramps found his pulled pork to be acceptable(I question his standards), but I wasn’t impressed with the ribs. They were mostly cold with a few blistering hot spots, which seemed to indicate the liberal application of microwave, which actually isn’t a completely unforgivable BBQ sin to my mind(can’t smoke meat to order after all) but it could have been done better. The rub had some odd flavors in it that I couldn’t immediately identify, but that were neither completely offensive nor enjoyable. I guess that’s how I’d sum up my entire experience: not completely offensive, but not entirely enjoyable, either. I sensed great potential, but it wasn’t delivered.

Best restaurant in Knob Noster! To be this close to a town as desolate as this one, it’s top notch. Love the quality of food and ingredients used. The homemade baked beans are phenomenal;could eat all day. Go on the days the meat was freshly smoked, and you’ll never be disappointed! Consider me a regular!

Whoa, that was realllly good. This place is set up in the old Knob Noster Post Office. It’s not fancy inside, but it’s comfortable. There is a simple menu, there are several ways to mix up the items. It’s nice to be able to kind of create your own meal with the items they offer. When we walked in, it was pretty smokey… the smokiness got worse and never really got better. For a minute I was worried the Fire Department would be coming, but not for lunch. We both got sandwiches with two sides. I got the two meat sandwich w/onion petals and potato salad(I asked if they make their own potato salad and she said they did). Mom got a brisket sandwich with onion petals and cole slaw. While we were waiting for the food, the waitress brought over the sauces. Besides ketchup and ranch(for the onion petals) she brought three variety of sauces that included a Carolina Mustard, a spicy vinegar based sauce, and a standard sweet sauce. We sampled each as we waited and they were all good. I’m not a fan of mustard, but that Carolina sauce was AWESOME. Our food arrived. The meat portion on the sandwiches was plentiful. Everything tasted great! The potato salad was perfect. Cole slaw was good — but not really my style. Onion petals were probably pre-fab, but they were still yummy. The sausage, turkey & brisket were all great. We were really thrilled. I’d take away a star for the smoke, but the food was too good to penalize them.
