Service was great and food was really good. Definitely a neat little place. Was able to seat a group of 13 pretty quickly and had our food very fast. Had a cool little outdoor patio to eat wth a local band playing it was very nice! Would recommend going!

Best lunch of the week. Kids enjoyed the fish tacos and barbecue chicken, our daughter had the Reuben and gobbled it up. I had the fried grouper and loved it, good beer and wine selection too. Highly recommend for a midday stop to sit inside or outside. Easily our best lunch of the week

Put simply: It’s okay. Service: I went here for takeout so I walked in, grabbed a menu from their front desk and proceeded to wait 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged my presence. While this was mildly frustrating I was willing to be patient with the servers as they were all very busy with their tables. Possibly understaffed? Speed: After I finally ordered I waited ten minutes… only to overhear my waitress and the kitchen staff conversing about how they’d forgotten about me. Luckily the food came out fairly quickly after they remembered that I was a customer and not a decoration in their lobby. Food: I’ve had better barbecue from a national chain back home in Ohio. That being said, it’s likely the best barbecue in Duck. The wings were nicely spiced and the pulled pork, baked beans and hush puppies were good enough that I’d eat them again if I wanted barbecue in Duck. The ribs, however were extremely tough and chewy… Far from what I expect from a restaurant specializing in barbecue. Portion Size: In the sampler I ordered all of the items were well-portioned and I plenty of leftovers after I’d eaten my fill. Price: Here’s the major downside. One kaiser roll sized pulled pork sandwich(with maybe 1/3lb of pork on it) costs 10 dollars! I know this is a tourist destination… but wow. I could go across the street to the boardwalk and get an entire cheese pizza for that price…

One of my favorite barbecue places! Every time I come to Duck I have to come here for the amazing food! I always get the pulled pork and it never disappoints! The staff is excellent and very attentive! Already can’t wait to come back!

Mahi tacos were awesome. Kids liked the Duck Buster. The food was good, but it was a bit pricey for what it was… as is everything in Duck! We bought 5 meals, all had water to drink, and it was $ 65. For deli food.

Everything was excellent. Kids ordered cheeseburgers and my daughter devoured hers and wanted another. Of the three adults, we split a Reuben, Philly Cheese Steak and Hot Italian and they were all three delicious. The Reuben was the winner in my opinion… Can’t go wrong with any of the three. A LOT of food. We’re all stuffed! Now I need to ride a bike for a few hours to make room for dinner later!

We ordered 2BBQ sandwiches, one with fries and one drink and the bill was 23.85. BBQ had absolutely no seasoning. We had to add sauce from the table. Slaw was not bad and the service was reasonably fast but it was not crowded at all. Will not come back.

For our first lunch in Duck and a Sunday at that, we were not looking for anything big. The possibilities are pretty limited around here. Duck Deli looked OK. It is a modest, homey place and had a reasonable crowd. Ms T asked about the fish of the day for the sandwiches, but when mahi was the response, she switched to a cheeseburger. I ordered a BBQ Sampler platter so we could have leftovers for dinner. She declared the cheeseburger to be good with a good grilled flavor. She would rate it better than the three stars I would give it. It was a pre-made patty and three stars is the max for that, but she was happy with it regardless. My barbecue sampler platter was a mixed success. It included three ribs, three whole wings and some pulled pork. My sides were slaw and baked beans. Wings — Grill(not smoky) flavor, good rub, a little spicy. Well done and moist. I really liked them, 4* Pulled Pork — flavorless except for stale taste, unsalted, unseasoned and dry, 1−½ * Ribs — Low on smoke, dry-ish spare ribs. Did not taste fresh, clearly were not smoked that day. 2* Slaw — Some onion, but limp and a day old. Dressing was tangy. Made from bagged slaw mix. 1−½ * Baked Beans — Maple flavored, probably Bush’s, ok, but very commercial — 2* Hush Puppies — Did not eat, put to my mouth and could taste the excessive onion without biting in. 1* So here is another place where you have to find what they do well. Take the time to drive down to High Cotton for barbecued pork. Don’t eat ribs in North Carolina if you have a choice. Try eating here on a day other than Sunday and hope that the slaw is fresher. Finally, get yourself a big plate of the wings. Three stars for the wings and the burger.

Food was great. I ordered a garden salad with smoked salmon and Italian dressing. The red wine Italian dressing was a nice surprise. The reason I give it 3 stars is because there was a chef or worker sitting on a prep station on his phone. Few minutes later the same guy was leaning over a counter in the back kitchen area on his phone again. I hope that isn’t an indication of the cleanliness of the back. Customer service was great.

Before choosing Duck Deli, there were many other choices to be had in Duck, N.C. Among those were: Duck Duck Burger, Duck Donuts, Duck Pizza, and Dockside Duck’s Seafood. So many duckin’ options and there were no ducks readily available from which I could pilfer advice! Well, based on a recommendation from the chick at the Life is Good store, I waddled on in to Duck Deli and actually checked into the old review page for Duck Deli. Yup totally ducked up that one(sigh). But that doesn’t change the lovely dining experience I had here the other day. Duck Deli is so popular and so loved by the frequent vacationers to Duck, N.C. that by the time I arrived here late in the day, many of the feature BBQ items had long sold out. No big deal. The server sold me on Mahi tacos, which were quite honestly among the BEST fish tacos I’ve had in a while. I’m very grateful for her suggestion and even happier the tacos were so delicious. Maybe I should look into ordering fish tacos from BBQ houses more often? Hmm. Prices were reasonable considering it’s a vacation town(apparently the ducks aren’t big on taxing) and the service was hyper friendly and very Southern. Also a twin-bill salute for having actual paper towels in the restroom, which appears to be a nay-nay in the rest of North Carolina.

It’s a tradition, the first night at the beach is take out ribs, chicken, pulled pork and wings form Duck Deli. The food has never disappointed us and the service has always been over the top friendly and accommodating.

A very friendly, reasonably priced place in Duck. Decent BBQ and great sauces for it. We had two meals there and were very pleased. My wife loves the veggie tacos. This a great casual atmosphere and a place locals frequent. I’m sure you’ll like it.

Have to try the Ruben and the onion rings. Among the best Ruben ever. Onion rings are nothing to brag about. French fries must be the best around. If I’ve ever had better, I don’t remember it. Half rack of ribs was great. Pulled pork sandwich wonderful. Maui platter highly recommended. Overall a great place to eat. Homemade coleslaw is good also.

My expectations were low, but wow! Great food worth the mildly higher prices. Would be a five rating if not for all the flies. Two of our party split a platter and they gave us extra food for no extra charge!

The«BBQ Stuffed Hush Puppies» are not stuffed with BBQ. Too bad, since that’s why I got them. But good with BBQ sauce and a beer on the boardwalk at Coastal Cantina. I was referred here by a friend so I’ll give it another shot and try some of the good looking sandwiches I saw heading out to tables. Nice staff.

The server was very nice. The food was subpar. The restaurant had tons of flys flying around and really made it hard to enjoy the food or even stay. The place didn’t seem very clean. I had a water and it tasted funny. Like tap water. I don’t think it’s very sanitary for the staff to be sitting on the counters where foods prepared either. We might give it another try next year but it’s iffy.

Headed down to OBX for a week back in July. It was my first time there, so I really wanted to try as many different places as possible. Unfortunately for me, I went to Duck Deli later in the week. I enjoyed it so much that I had to go back the following day. I do wish I had a chance to try some more of their menu, but alas, there is always next year. Both times, I went with pulled sandwiches; pork the first day, chicken the following. I very much prefer the vinegar-based Carolina barbecue over the tomato-based southern style barbecue, so this was right up my alley. The meat wasn’t overly drenched in BBQ sauce, overpowering the taste like many other places. I forget the sides I ordered, but remember I had no complaints. I was also impressed with the cole slaw. Cole slaw almost always seems to be a bowl of mayonnaise with a few cabbage shards goes directly into the trash. Duck Deli’s, however, was very tasty(again, vinegar-based). The deli itself was small and very casual, with a handful of tables. The staff was very friendly and laid back. Some of them apparently had migrated from Pennsylvania(!). The prices were typical of a BBQ spot, if not more than reasonable considering the quality of the food. They also have a decent assortment of tshirts and hats for all the tourists. The $ 2 beer koozie I picked up is a constant reminder that I need to visit again.

I wanted to like the duck deli. It was close to our rental and had parking in front. We got carry out: I had the BBQ platter, which was a sample of everything. I did not each much of what was there. The puled pork was just ok, and I was glad I ordered a roll to eat it on because alone it was kind of blah. In a sandwich it was passable. The ribs were not good. I only ate a few bites. And the chicken was overlooked and dry. There are probably other things that are worthwhile. Stay clear of the BBQ.
