You can’t go wrong eating here! Lovely view overlooking the lake. Friendly staff, efficient staff, clean facility, good food. And great local wild life photos on the walls.

If you are looking for the closest thing that resembles a high dollar restaurant, this is the best Kirksville has to offer. That being said, it is not the best restaurant I have eaten in, hince the 3 star rating. The atmosphere is trying to be fancy, but you walk in to a small, general store like reception area(not really, but the greeting space is very unprofessional). The tables have a nice setting and the tables are small, allowing for a more personal interaction. It is the style of a lodge resort, which it reflects accurately with its décor and large windows overlooking the Thousand Hills lake. However, it does not feel like a fancier lodge with its cheaper silverware, chairs, lighting, and table set up. The menu selection is very large and the prices do resemble a local, fancy restaurant($ 30 for their top cut of meat). It was all prepared in a timely fashion, with the time between salad and dinner enough to talk about a couple different topics. The house salad was simple, but the dressing was very good! I got the Sirloin, Medium Well and it was cooked the way I ordered it. However, my Dad’s steak(Medium ordered) was more a medium rare. The fish was cooked well and tasted as close as you can get to that«straight from the ocean» taste in Northern Missouri. The service was very helpful and cordial. Most of them are college students and are more than happy to help you in any way. Overall, the atmosphere gets 3 stars, food 3, and service 4. The main reasons for the 3 star rating is because it does lack in food presentation: it is not that of a fine dining restaurant. Also, the atmosphere does not do the best of jobs in reflecting an upper class dining lodge. It is the best restaurant in town, but in its effort to seem like a fancy western dining lodge, it does not live up to its goal.

Oh my yummy. We dine out quite a bit, and I am picky. The food quality and quantity were both great, and service was attentive. I recommend the pork chops, prime rib and kids fish.

Sunday morning brunch overlooking Thousand Hills Lake. Beautiful scenery. The dining room was fresh and clean. Service was spot-on with coffee and water. Brunch included sausage(both links and patties), bacon, scrambled eggs, scrambled eggs with cheese, scrambled eggs with cheese and ham, hash browns, tater tots, potato wedges, biscuits and gravy, French toast, pancakes, apple fritters, sweet rolls, muffins, many other gorgeous pastries and fabulous fresh fruit — cantaloupe, pineapple and strawberries. All the serving dishes and trays were brimming with choices and replenished often. The food was great — fresh and tasty. And the lake was beautiful through the drizzle. .. thank goodness, rain!

My girlfriend and I went recently on a Sunday night. Southwest chicken quesadilla rolls were good. Sweet potato fries as one of our sides pretty good. Otherwise, eh. Had beef sirloin tips and salmon steak with a tartar. I would probably not suggest either. Chocolate cake for dessert wasn’t very good either. Don’t think I’ll be coming back, considering there’s other, better, less expensive Kirksville food than this. Service was good, though.

This restaurant deserves 4 stars simply due to the very beautiful scenic route and the great dining view of the lake. If it was based off of the food I would probably only give 3 stars because of the very small menu and the food. It is definitly worth the drive for the view.

I like this place because of the nice view and it’s seasonal hours. It is a «fancier» restaurant and kind of a hidden gem — most college students are unaware of its’ existence.
