DONOTCOMEHEREIFYOU’RESTRONGLYAGAINSTANDCAN’T HANDLEBLUNTANDOBVIOUSHATE&DISCRIMINATION. Notoriously known by TSU students as «Shitty’s», I’ll let you guess why. It’s only frequented by TSU students bc it’s the only place open within miles when it’s late and you’re hungry with impaired senses, so almost anything tastes good at that moment. Probably the bulk of their profits. However, if you visit and don’t appear«white» or of European ancestry, be aware they staff racist employees and you’ll encounter racist patrons frequenting this place. During my pre-yelp days about 7 years ago(did Unilocal even exist back then?), my small diverse group of 4 – 5 friends were harassed by a family seated next to us. Mind you, they had toddler children and the father & grandfather were throwing around derogatory names and racial slurs across the restaurant aimed at us. Did management step in? Nope. Obviously, they don’t care if their patrons harass minorities that are paying customers. And they’ll make you wait for all their«white» patrons to be checked out before they help you, even if you were logically the next customer in line. Hillbilly central. Pretty much.

Definitely a hit or miss. I’ve had some great cheap greasy food here and I’ve had some crappy greasy food here. They have delicious french toast and if you need a hangover cure, the garbage fries should hit the spot. However, other menu items are god-awful, like the toasted ravioli which was weird and dried out and nasty.(I’m a St. Louis girl, so I was practically raised on T-Ravs).Overall, it’s cheap, easy and has the feel of a classic diner which makes it great for groups or a quirky, laid back date.

Food here is good but the people there are unwelcoming. We had a racist cashier who muttered racist comments about us to himself. He ruined our experience here. I’m definitely not coming here again until the people there are more welcoming to all guests. Better yet, It’ll be all for the best if they switch them for more open minded people.

Had a racist cashier, said quietly to his coworker when we asked for a table for 8. I know where we can place them, back to where they came. Won’t be eating here again.

Racist staff(s) amongst them. We had a very diverse group of friends. The moment we walked in, all eyes were on us. It felt very unwelcoming. I was uncomfortable the entire time throughout our meal, since we were seated in a spot where everyone can just simply stare a hole into our backs. Now the part that got me the most is the racist male cashier/manager. He was wearing a lime green collar shirt and had a balding with a patch of hair on top, mustache and beard to match. We got in line to pay for our meals. There were two cashiers in the front, including him. Instead of helping the 2nd cashier ring up our group, he decided to grab the groups behind us instead. And then when he was done with that group, he grabbed another group and rang them up. I was the last one in my group to get ringed up and instead of calling me up and ringing me out to finish our group, he just stood there looking else where. I walked up to him but no response but when another couple walked up to him, he was happy to help them out. I was very appalled by his actions. If you’re a non-Caucasian from out of town and wanted to have a good friendly family breakfast, STAYAWAY. Food is mediocre and the crowd is what you expect from a gas diner joint out in the boondocks.

Smells like old cooking oil from the parking lot but the breakfast is surprisingly damn good with huge portions. I got an omelette, which was really good. My bf got the Starving Man plate and was overly happy about the portion and deliciousness. The hash browns were so, so good.

Fantastic pancakes… I sampled my daughter’s apple cinnamon pancakes and they were delicious. Very good omelet… I ordered a ham and cheese omelet, and I was very impressed with the ham. Excellent service and the establishment was very clean and well-maintained. Good prices… the four of us ate for under $ 40. Only gripe is no fee refills on the lemonade.

Pancake city is awesome! Let it be what it’s meant to be — cheap, greasy, diner food that totally hits the spot after a night out, while hungover the next morning, or just when you’re craving an enormous plate of pancakes and hash browns but can’t be bothered to prepare it yourself. The food isn’t amazing, but it’s still tasty and the portions are generous. The horse wallpaper is awesome, and it has a townie atmosphere which is charming in its own way. An essential spot if you’re ever in kirksville!

A great way to start the day(or to end the night…)! You can’t go wrong with Pancake City. The pancakes are great. I usually get the country fried steak and eggs. Good hash browns. You get plenty of food for the money. The place has been remodeled in the last few years and it’s much cleaner than it was a few years ago.

My favorite place to have breakfast when I’m in town. The Starving Man plate of eggs, hashbrowns, sausage, bacon, biscuit & gravy, toast, and a pancake is my go to meal. It has the best of all the breakfast foods! The Reese’s pancake is what I usually go with as I have a sweet tooth. The place is recently remodeled which helped decrease the greasy part of greasy spoon and now you can focus more on the delicious food. Also highly highly recommend the corn nuggets! I can’t find them anywhere else this good!

If you’re looking for breakfast food this is pretty much it but I must warn that the food is about as exciting as their TV commercials.

The food is pretty average. The pancakes have a dough-y texture, and the flavor is just OK. The eggs are alright. I’ve had better hashbrowns. It’s a good place to get together with people after a night of drinking. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff is very nice, and prices are reasonable. Overall, not bad, but not great.

Pancake City during the day is just alright. Their morning/afternoon/dinner menu is larger and more extensive. It’s also cheaper than their late night menu. But somehow, greasy food is just better after midnight. It gets kind of busy then, and you’ll feel terrible later after eating there, but it’s definitely a part of the Kirksville-college-student experience. If you get fries, always get Savory Fries – they’re waffle cut! AND they have massive $ 3 rootbeer floats. You can definitely share that with multiple people. Pancake City is also the only place I’ve ever eaten at that has corn nuggets(which I embarrassingly admit I love). Ironically enough, I’ve never eaten their pancakes, but I hear they’re mediocre. I enjoy their ‘Eggcelent Burger’. Or is it ‘Eggceptional Burger’???

The food is usually simple and good, and the restaurant is there. You eat there because it is there. It’s basically like going to the Waffle House, with slightly less of that«I’m having breakfast in a gas station» feel. The restaurant is a little dingy and crowded, but the food is exactly what you want when you are craving breakfast grub. Good pancakes, eggs, grits, and toast, but how can you honestly mess those things up? You can mess them up actually, and it has happened. Three of the four times I’ve eaten there, the food has been fine. …But then there was this one time… A friend ordered the strawberry pancakes. The topping was supposed to be sliced strawberries in a strawberry sauce. Unfortunately, one of those sliced strawberries turned out to be…(drum roll)… a pickle. It was a slice of dill pickle. How did that even happen?

My daughter’s favorite restaurant in Kirksville. Good diner food: chicken-fried steak & omelets stand out. Curiously, the pancakes don’t turn me on.
