A Sound Chimney & Masonry

I had an issue with my fireplace not being up to code when the previous home owners built a new wall around it, and had the wood beams coming all the way up to the opening. I called Sound Chimney’s and Jeremy came by inspected it, then was able to cut out the wood and build out my fireplace surround properly with firebrick. He made everything match perfectly like it has been that way the whole time and overall I had a great experience

These guys did a great job repairing some brickwork (2 pillars on our front porch) on our 1930’s-era home. The guy who came out to give us an estimate was knowledgeable and professional, and even gave us some tips on how we could save some money and do the sealing of the brickwork ourselves. In the end, we just had them do it because we’re busy and they do good work!
They also repaired a hole in our interior chimney where our gas furnace and hot water heater vent. I can’t believe the people we bought our house from left a HUGE GAPING HOLE in the kitchen where gases being vented from these things were constantly leaking into the house, but these guys fixed it for us no problem. Since our house is so old, they weren’t able to find brick that was a great match, but it’s either going to look bad with a big hole in it (or with an ugly «decorative» plate covering the hole, or it’s going to look bad because the brick doesn’t match exactly. Our #1 concern was ‘not having deadly gases leak into our house’. :)
One last thing they did for us was to do some minor repairs to the chimney bit that actually sticks up out of the roof, and they did a great job on that, too. They had to come back a few months later (I guess to give the mortar time to dry out completely?) to seal it, and even though we’d pretty much forgotten about it, their excellent secretary called us up to remind us, even though we’d already paid them for everything and if they were like half the shady businesses around here they could have just conveniently «forgotten» about it and saved themselves some time and money. I’m happy to report that they are far more ethical than that.
We’d definitely use these guys if we needed any other chimney repairs done.
