Good roadside burger and fries. Nothing exceptional, but friendly service. Better than McDonald’s but no gourmet burger; conventional frozen patty, soft bun, fresh slice tomato and leaf lettuce, crispy fries. Wish I’d noticed the somewhat hidden shakes menu before ordering.

White’s Dairy bar is a little ice cream shop in an unexpected location. They have food, too. This place is reminiscent of the 1950’s, as the food is cheap and the portions are small(remember Coke started off in 8 oz bottles!) They also have a couple of arcade games in the back. As of this writing, there’s a sit-down racing game, a shooting game, and a pinball game. The pinball game is 50c and the others are 25c. The main attraction is the ice cream, and you can order that inside(in the very nice air conditioning) or up at the front window. An adorable older lady runs(owns?) the place; and if she is working the window, you’ll have to speak up to place your order. From the few times I have stopped in, it seems that White’s also serves as a kind of bare-bones general store for the local residents as well.(You’ll notice the store across the street went out of business some time ago). Kids stop in to buy soda and candy, and I saw a few families stop in for lunch. They have a small fishing tackle section and some necessities on the shelves. I’ve sampled the normal offerings; cheeseburger, hot dog, fries, etc. All of it is good and made fresh in front of you. Portion size is a little small, but the prices are very low. Quirks: –The inside is a little dim, though if you can find the light switch, they don’t seem to mind if you flip it on yourself –Some of the groceries are very off-brands that I’ve never heard of before –They don’t have a bench outside which I think is a shame; I am sure people would love to sit outside and eat icecream. Perhaps they used to have an outside seating area but it was too hard to keep clean? –Some of the shelves are bare, which gives one a weird feeling, since most retail stores always seem to go out of their way to keep shelves full all the time, but I guess it doesn’t really matter. If you are in the area, definitely stop by and try the icecream or a lunchtime snack!
