Olympic Diner

Just a fabulous place. We got off the highway on a whim and couldn’t have been more pleased. I ordered a chef salad that came with enough meat to feed a super bowl party. My kid had pancakes, everyone was happy. I look forward to stopping by again.

Stopped here for dinner and to stretch our legs while on a road trip. This place has your basic diner food. The portions are huge and the prices are good. The staff is very friendly. I got a dinner that included soup, salad, and dessert! All for less than $ 15. My son got a veggie burger, which was not bad. Overall, this was a pleasant surprise.

Definitely a diner. Definitely one of those comfort places. I think that I expected a bit more due to the reviewed but I was a little disappointed in the quality and taste of the food. I think their desserts on the other hand are absolutely amazing and you could go just for coffee and dessert and be completely happy with that :) Service was just okay, I had to ask for my check and for a refill on my drink. The restaurant was not busy so service should have been a bit better than this.

What a great place to stop for a quick bite! Fantastic lunch specials and a huge menu with plenty of variety! We got lunch specials that came with soup and dessert for 8 $ which is a steal! The soup came out immediately and the food soon after, it was very good and the waitress was attentive and very pleasant.

Clean diner. Very friendly. Fast service. Good food and prices. Soup is homemade. Easy to find and parking not an issue.

Hot, tasty food. Very friendly service. The menu is endless. We ordered the jambalaya soup, specialty burger, tilapia scampi and 2 kids meals. Everything was great. The desserts are big so be sure to leave some place for those.

Solid American diner with comprehensive 24-​hour service and a menu to match from breakfast through lunch and dinner, plus a full selection of deserts to fill in the times in between. There are lots of set menu options as well, for example a cup of soup with a burger or gyro, both with home fries and a choice of beverages – each for about $ 7. The service was fast and friendly and the coffee refills kept coming, so we’ll definitely stop by next time we’re in town and need a quick pick-​me-​up! There is a ramp to the front door and the facilities are accessible.

I’ve been eating at diners for about 50 years now. I ordered a burger at a diner once. Every other meal I’ve EVER ordered was what you consider to be breakfast. And Olympics breakfast was as pleasurable as you can imagine. There is no other dish from a diner that can beat breakfast. And the help at this place is just as nice as can be. You gotta listen to the chatter in the background. No sir’s or mam’s here. The help knows practically every customer at the counter by name. Even at 4 in the morning. Open 24 hours so you know where to go for real comfort at any hour.

Been here 1x for breakfast. Staff was friendly but you could hear a gentleman screaming at workers in the kitchen. Food wasn’t that great, pancakes had a weird taste. My husband got an omelet and the vegetables were undercooked, still crunchy and hard.

Wonderful place! Food is consistently good, plentiful, and served by extremely polite servers. The friendly staff here will not blow a gasket if you ask them to substitute one item for another, as they are very eager to please their customers. In addition to an extensive menu, they offer a large variety of reasonably-​priced dinner specials, including soup + salad + dessert. I was surprised to find that the desserts they offer with the specials are full-​sized desserts — huge slices of cakes, pies, etc — not some stingy little cup of rice pudding or jello, as some other diners might include with their dinner specials — if at all.
You can’t go wrong at the Olympic Diner: Delicious food, welcoming staff, and a great deal, too.
This is definitely our new go-​to place when we find ourselves hungry and in Kingston.

My family is a big fan of diners, but this stands out. Conveniently located near the highway, it’s a good option for a meal on the road. The service was friendly and wonderful and there was a mile-​long list of dinner specials (many more unique than at most diners, and including chicken and rice/​pasta combos– ex. lemon chicken, chicken paella) that included soup, salad, dessert for $ 9 – 12. Many types of soups and cakes.

On a road trip and stopped in to grab a bite. Typical diner. Good food, giant portions, lots of seating, pleasant staff. A good place to grab a meal, relax for a few and get back on the road. (On a side note we did need to take prilosec after this one. made the old acid reflux act up. lol.)

Excellent food for a diner.
1) The food is affordable and quick.
2) The location is excellent. If you are from NJ, and hiking around the area. Perfect place to stop and get a bite.
3) It has everything you expect of a diner.

Figured they’re spending so much $ on their giant billboard on the NY State Thruway that the food quality here couldn’t be any good. Well, I was wrong.
Way better-​than-​average old-​school diner. Dinner specials are an awesome value.

We went to the Olympic Diner based upon Unilocal reviews. Big mistake. The food was awful. Ordered an Athenian burger medium, and it came like a hockey puck. After returning, the second one came back still not right, the quality of the meat would have been better if it was pink slime. Don’t waste your money folks.

The Olympic diner was awesome. Just passing through and got off at exit 19. Highly suggest the chicken salad sandwich. 2 meals, with soup and dessert for total of $ 15. Well worth the stop.

Average diner in an average small town.

I wholeheartedly concur with what the other reviewers have said about the Olympic. This place is a very good all-​around diner, but they absolutely EXCEL with their dinner specials! Soup, salad, entrée, AND dessert. Never had a bad meal here!
The owners used to run the Barclay Heights Diner in Saugerties several years ago, so when the Olympic opened after this location was closed down for a long time, it was great to see that they own and operate this diner now. They are always pleasant and accommodating whenever we visit!
Now their dinner specials… their pasta dishes are spectacular. Some of them actually put Olive Garden to shame IMO. They make great seafood dishes as well. The Olympic Feast and the Seafood Newburg I highly recommend. And their $ 15.99 prime rib dinner is hard to beat as well.
Definitely the best 24 hr diner in Kingston. We compare all other diners to here! And that will not change anytime soon.

Great friendly diner just off rt87. We had breakfast and the food was delicious and fresh

This place meets all our criteria for a dinner stop on our way to or from Vermont.
It’s perfectly located 3 hours from our place in Vermont and is very close to the thruway with easy on off access. The service is quick, friendly and efficient and there are plenty of choices to satisfy everyone in the family. The dinner specials all come with soup, salad, entrée and dessert. They don’t skimp on any of the options and are very reasonably priced.
I had the Juliana special which had shrimp, scallops and chicken over tortellini in a butter sauce for $ 13. I had it with linguini instead and they were happy to accommodate my request.
Overall a new favorite stop along our drive.
