I’m upstate visiting my family. There’s a Michael’s store not too far from there home and I needed to pick up some materials for my job. I had a coupon for $ 5 off $ 15 or more. I picked up my items, headed to the register, was rung up, handed the coupon over to the cashier who scanned the coupon. Nothing. She scanned it again. Nothing. She had to call for help from the manager; she couldn’t understand why it wasn’t going through as the only restriction was it could not be used on Clearance items(which I did not have). The grumpy manager came over, said, «Are they sure it’s a Michael’s coupon?» That annoyed me. She combed over the coupon as if to find some hidden message and then said, «Oh, that thing there is part of clearance and so it can’t be used.» It was a small gift for my nephew, it literally rang up for $ 1.00. So, my total(before taxes) was 14.99. I said, «So, you won’t scan the coupon over a penny.» She quickly snapped, «That’s right.» Now, I wasn’t trying to put one over on this establishment. I just can’t understand how this rude, disgruntled woman wouldn’t honor my coupon over one cent.

A few months ago(still within 2014), my brother took one of the Wilton cake-decorating classes(Course I) class, and loved it. It taught him so much stuff that he didn’t know before, now. Although it requires some tools that require additional money, it’s well worth it. Anytime we picked him up, it actually made me feel like taking it too, but I have to decline. As far as the rest of the store goes, yes stuff is a little more expensive here than the craft store across the street(JoAnn’s), but you can find a bunch more things in Michaels than what I was able to find at JoAnn’s. The employees were available anytime you could spot one, even towards the end of the business day. The store had relatively spotless floors, and when you asked an employee a question, they were understanding enough to find an answer to your question; if they didn’t know the answer, they did try to find one for you in any way possible. If you are looking into a class, watch out for an «Open House» day. The classes are discounted only on those days, and it’s not just the«Introductory course» that’s discounted; as long as there’s a class available, those are discounted on that day too. The fake flowers weren’t hanging their heads as much when I entered, and, just as a reverse, I didn’t even notice them anywhere in the store. Maybe I wasn’t look far(or well) enough, but that was a change from the last times I had entered this store.

I find this store is laid out smoothly. Pretty good prices, and they always have coupons in the paper and online! Staff is okay, and always be on the look out for clearance items mixed in with full priced items.
