I went to the hospital for a super dense headache mixed with weird visuals and mental confusion. I tried to open the car door handle with the window buttons, and I had a hard time finding simple words, that sort of thing. I knew it might just be a raging migraine but you don’t want to mess around with a possible stroke. I got to the emergency room and my husband and I were ushered right to a private curtained area and examined. They ran all the labs and placed IVs and started monitoring my heart in just a few minutes. They turned the lights way down for me because I was very light sensitive and the headache was terrible. Everyone was quiet and respectful while also doing their job. From the nurses to the residents to the attending I felt well treated. A few hours later the headache subsided and they suggested I get MRI and cat scans to see if there had been any brain involvement. The tests were right in the hospital and there was no waiting. Finally, they suggested that I stay overnight because they like to keep heart monitors on for 24 hours after an event. I knew by then that it was really only a vicious headache, but I choose to follow medical advice and stay to be sure. My overnight stay and care of the hospitalist was actually relaxing. Everyone was so nice and caring and BONUS I got a break from my 3 small children at home for one night! I would recommend this hospital highly.

The quality of care at this hospital, more often than not, is positively deplorable. Although there are a few staff members who are extremely compassionate and competent, the vast majority that my loved ones and I have encountered over the past year have been rude, cold, judgmental, and completely disorganized. Within my circle of family and friends, I have heard an endless list of complaints of negligence, misdiagnosis, medication errors, iv insertion disasters, refusal to give iv fluids to dehydrated patients, dismissive attitudes, and general disrespect that mirror my own experiences. I would never write a review based on rumors… unfortunately I have repeatedly witnessed what I have just described. I’ve lost track of how many health professionals I have spoken with who have said they would never go to Kingston hospital or bring a loved one there. The only redeeming quality is that they tend to move people out of the shiny new waiting room quickly. I do feel bad for the select few outstanding staff members… they deserve recognition and appreciation. They go above and beyond, doing the best they can to make sure your hospital visit is not a nightmare. It is scary and sad that they are in the minority.

After a few treatments in the emergency room in this hospital, I seem to have mixed feelings about this place. They seem to be knowledgable, but when all you are told is that the symptoms the people have who are in there are told to us by doctors as(unknowledgable symptoms), something seems to be up. For other times on other people, they seem to be okay. They treat scrapes and bruises with the care many people need and deserve. For other things they try to make some minor fixes and ward these problems off on specialists. The rooms seem to be guarded by their staff who are strict at following their own rules.

Super friendly nurses and doctors. My best hospital visit, surgery, and stay. Would recommend.
