Best Western Plus Kingston Hotel And Conference Center

Okay so here’s my rant. So while walking down the hallway go my room, it feels like a prison. There is no liveliness. Dark hallways. The toilet didn’t flush until after I tried a few times and held down the handle that is almost about to fall off.
The tv is nice. I give that a thumbs up. Overall I wouldn’t stay here. I would definitely recommend the Hampton inn in Kingston instead.

My husband and I have not stayed in a best western (regular, plus or premier) in years. We tried to book in 2 other Kingston hotels, but they were full. Arrived in town before the regular check in time, the lady at the front desk was very nice and said we can check in anytime after noon with no extra charge.
Entering the hotel from the side, we were both shocked of the modern look. The lobby, bar, and dinning area were full of textures. Everything had a rich but clean feel. Our room also had a modern look, it was on the first floor, and had a decent size TV and bed. There was a microwave, and mini fridge (both nice for leftovers from delicious local restaurants) The bath was small, but efficient.
Down the hall was a great room that housed an indoor pool, fitness room, pool table, air hockey, and a few arcade games. Probably great for kids or a nice winter swim.
The bar staff was WONDERFUL! One night we had drinks there, another night we brought our own bottle of wine to the bar area. The male bartender opened it, gave us some glasses and we watched the mets play.
The only reason I’m giving 4 out of 5 is due to room service. We would leave 5 $ everyday with a thank you note, and the day before we left it was not good. We were not given new glasses or plastic cups, new bedding (that was needed), trash or ice bucket were not emptied, or bathroom wiped down. We only knew they came because the bed was made, new towels, and 5 $ was gone.
However — For the money this place meets all standards. And when we come to visit family in Kingston, we will check this hotel first for availability.

Seems like this is a new location for Best Western. It is clean but needs some work for sure! Start with the staff! Training on customer relations is a start. The only staff who smiled and were professional were the ladies in the breakfast room. Staff at the front desk clearly didn’t like their jobs, and they acted like it was a pain to provide the basic information.
The room was clean and well stocked. The hallway carpets were stained in several places.
Overall, some TLC would be a great start to improving this property.
