American Cleaners

We have been taking our cleaning to American for 6 years and never had the kind of experience stated in the one star review. Whenever there has been a problem stain issue they put a special tag on the garment and/​or the hanger to let us know. Basically, American Cleaners has always performed as expected.

First thing I learned today: When you have your clothes dry-​cleaned to make sure you check the clothes when you pick them up on the scheduled date, before leaving the business!
Saturday I picked up about 15 pieces of clothing from American Cleaners in Kingston, that I had dry-​cleaned. Sunday morning I went to pack my clothes because I am going on vacation on Tuesday. I saw that one of my shirts was completely dyed another color. And another one of my shirts had a bleach stain down the center. I had to wait until Monday to go into the business because they are closed on Sunday’s. When I arrived Monday I asked to speak to someone regarding my clothes. The gentleman that came to the front had an attitude to start off, when I showed him my shirts and presented him with the pictures of me wearing them the prior week there was a significant difference. He insisted that his business did not do this to my clothes in fact he told me, «I must have spilled toothpaste on my shirt and it stained it». For one that is crazy we all know toothpaste does not put bleach stains on clothing. He also told me that the other shirt which had changed colors was wear and tear on the shirt from dry-​cleaning it so much. It was my first time getting my shirts dry cleaned, my first time using this business and both shirts were brand new. I wore them both one time and then brought them to the cleaners to get washed so I could take them on vacation. The brand of my shirts were expensive so I wanted them washed properly. But fooled me !! He kept insisting there was nothing he could do for me because he knew that they didn’t ruin my shirts that it must have been me when I took them home. But yet they were still in the plastic. For about 5 minutes we just stared at each other because his final answer was I know we didn’t do this. He had no remorse for me or any quality of good customer service to show. He didn’t care that he ruined almost $ 200 in clothing of mine. He also didn’t care that he blamed me for the stains or discolor that came about for letting them dry clean my clothes. I was shocked on how they handled the situation. They blamed me, and then declined any refund or replacement of my clothes. He looked at me and said, «what do you want me to do? I know we didn’t do this!» I then said, so there is nothing you can do to help me replace my shirts that you ruined? He said no, we didn’t do this. I was in shock. Today I received the most disgusting form of customer service possible from the gentleman at American Cleaners on Albany Ave. Kingston.
Please Check Your clothing before you leave and do not fall victim like I did. This business is a complete joke! And I will never bring them any clothing again. Thanks for the lesson learned today American Cleaners!!!
