It’s one of those places that seems to be in business for music over money. Tim’s a real nice dude with very reasonable prices and selections. This has become my favorite store on LI; the owner is great and he easily has the fairest prices around. ***He make and sells his own record cleaning fluid that’s pretty awesome. I clean all of my records with a Nitty Gritty 1.0 vacuum. There’ve been occasions where the Record Reserve fluid removed a contaminant that Nitty Gritty Pure 2.0 couldn’t. It’s only $ 10 w/free refills. Don’t leave the store without it!

I’ve missed Tim and RR terribly since moving to Texas, so I make this one of my first stops when I visit family. This store is awesome… great prices, excellent selection, good vibe. Tim is passionate and knowledgeable about his product and music in general. If you don’t come to RR, you’re missing out.

I went in looking for Bo Didley and guess what? I found Bo Didley. Great condition. Great place. Plays records while you shop. He also has old record players, I will be back.

Solid record store with extensive stock. The tastes lean toward rock, punk and other guitar heavy music but there’s interesting older records as well. I was tempted by several of their old R&B records, in surprisingly good shape. The prices are fair, based on condition. Nice vibe and they play records while you shop.

Record Reserve made a name for itself among my friends when it was located on Larkfield Road in East Northport. After a fire gutted the building in January 2014, the store sprang back up the next month in Kings Park in the train station parking lot, and while it’s a smaller space, it’s the same record store we’d come to know and love. I try to pop in whenever I’m thirsting for a new variety in my vinyl collection, and if there’s anything the Reserve has, it’s variety. I’ve never seen such an eclectic assortment of jazz, classic rock, varying degrees of heavy metal, classic pop and new vinyl releases in one place! Tim, the owner, has a very expansive knowledge of his stock, and has been renowned among my friends for his ability to acquire hard to find records– a friend of mine interested in an obscure vinyl by an even more obscure American Primitivism guitarist named Robbie Basho had it in his hands within a week’s time. The prices at the Reserve are more than reasonable, the condition of the records generally being the deciding factor– for example if something is still in shrink wrap, it’s gonna be upwards of $ 30. If something is a bit more worse for wear, it’ll be cheaper. I’ve snagged records there for as low as $ 3 that still sound good. Tim is always apt to play new music on his turntable, as well as play records for you before you buy them, which is always a plus. I have yet to check out his Huntington outlet– Record Reserve West– that has an even more expansive collection of music, but for now I don’t mind going around the corner to the Kings Park store and perusing the shelves for something new to me. Definitely my go-to vinyl shop, much more affordable than the(somewhat ironically named) Mr. Cheapo’s in Commack.
