We were hiking crowders mountain and looking for some good food. I love hole in the wall joints and old fashioned drive ins. After seeing all the excellent reviews we decided to give it a try. The burger was kinda blah, the hotdogs was decent. Overall I wasn’t impressed.

I called in my order for a LottaBurger. They told me it would be fifteen minutes. I got there 14 minutes later, picked up my order, and the bottom of the bread was soggy. For $ 7, I could’ve made a far better burger at home. One of the best things about these Ma and Pa joints is that the hamburgers are usually gigantic and have that awesome peppery flavor, but this burger was lacking both of those qualities.

Perfect Diner food. From all the descriptions I read, this matched as described. My Cherry Lemon Sun Drop came with extra love; a super bonus!

Fantastic classic drive-in food. Scott runs a true family business. Now; don’t be confused, this AIN’T fine dining. This IS honest to goodness American flat-top grill food. Ask for the Jumbo cheeseburger w/chili slaw mustard & onion(Carolina Style); the«garbage fries»(chili, cheese, grilled peppers & onions with bacon on top); with the Centralina Classic Cherry Lemon Sundrop(if you’re brave ask for the«sea breeze» pickle!!!)

This is good as it gets for hamburger and fries. You will not find any better burger and fries for any amount of money anywhere in the area. I love to eat here, only problem is everyone else is finding out about this place and its getting harder to get in this place. I had to actually drive past a few times when I didn’t have time to wait. It is a very small place with limited parking. You can also sit in your car and they will bring it out to you if you can find a place to park. The people that run this place also work here and they run it well. The food is always fresh and well prepared and they do it for a ridiculously low price. Do yourself a favor and get a cherry lemon sundrop and thank me later. Oh they also do a diet one.

Always makes my kids happy to come and get a cherry lemon sundrop, and hot dog baskets. I’m partial to the Lotta burger.

This looks like a dive and it is… but god the local food is great. I get«to go» here all the time. The service is friendly and the food is good. If you are looking for filling american food and a good sweet tea and a burger this is it.

I read great things about this place so I decided not to head out of town for dinner. Service was friendly. Food took pretty long for a small joint. I ordered a chicken sandwich. Chicken was great and so was the bacon but the lettuce was from a salad bag and slid all off. Also my bottom bun was burnt. Overall my food was just OK. The onion rings were solid. Wish I could have liked this place more.

The Lottaburger basket is great! Definitely nice to have the choice to eat inside or outside.

Great great hamburgers, awesome sandwiches and onion rings and good fries. I don’t drink soft drinks, but I have many friends who love their homemade cherry lemon sun drop, but the ice cream is terrible. I cannot recommend it less. Otherwise, I can vouch for almost anything on the menu. Great food!

Cool little place that was an old school drive in at one time. Small inside, fills up quick on a busy day, but easy enough to get it to go. Old school burgers, done the old school way– greasy and fried. Crinkle cut fry’s are fine and some nice milk shake and ice cream flavors. Stop by and enjoy, but don’t get in a hurry — all orders are cooked when you place them.

I always love to eat at this super casual spot! Lots of options, generous portions, affordable prices and you can’t beat their kindness! Some of my favorites are the liver-mush sandwich, chili dogs, and you will not want to miss the homemade Cherry-Lemon Sundrop! Great place!

~ Blue Highway Diners ~ Ordered the Lotta Burger basket and a cherry/lemon Sundrop. — Lotta burger. 2.5÷5. Instead of a double cheeseburger, there were two mini burgers. The buns were about one quarter the circumference of the ¼″ thick hamburger patty, so it was almost like eating an open faced sandwich. This disparity made them cumbersome to handle and very messy to eat. The Lotta burger comes dressed in the style of the area, namely, with white coleslaw, a thick tomato slice, and a multitude of dill pickles. The mayonnaise from the slaw drips, it makes the bun soggy, and the coleslaw ended up everywhere — on the table, atop my fries, on my shirt, on my pants, on my coat, on my hands. I must have used six napkins to keep my area clean. This burger was merely OK, I’ve had much better. I’m not terribly impressed with this sandwich, although eating both was very filling. Better than Five Guys, hell to the no. — The crinkle cut fries? Meh. 2⁄5. Standard drive-in fare. Nothing special. — The star of the show was the Cherry/Lemon Sundrop. It elicits oohs and aahs upon first inspection. The drink comes in a large Styrofoam cup, with a lemon wedge garnish. There are over twelve stemmed maraschino cherries adorning the top of the cup — a very pretty presentation. The actual drink was good, but the same drink at Black’s in Cherryville has a stronger, more concentrated, superior taste, because I believe that they add some grenadine or cherry syrup to their version. I lost count at five refills, so I must have enjoyed it. 3.5÷5. — Service? Very competent, and very friendly. Smiles. Courtesy. Multiple refills without being asked. Two experienced waitresses, one of which reminded me of Miss Alabama, Katherine Webb. The girl must have been 5’11″ and she was very easy on the eyes, and very friendly. 5⁄5. — Décor. Typical 1960’s drive-in. When I left at 11:58 a.m. every single booth was full of diners, many of whom appeared to be regulars, and every last drive-in slot was occupied with people dining in their vehicles. This is a VERY popular place! — Price? $ 9.64 or thereabouts. — Conclusion. I would stop here again if I were in the area, but I’m not going to make a special trip to come here again. David’s description of Blackwood’s being a «classic hometown burger joint» is spot on. This restaurant would fit right in at any small town in America. — PS: This is for Jason… they have double decker Moon Pies for sale, near the check out counter, in three flavors.

This is a nice little mom-and-pop burger place. A great stop after hiking or walking through the local State Parks. I will stop here again after another trip to the near by state park and try a different burger with those delicious corn nuggets.

Probably the best cheeseburger I’ve had from a restaurant; absolutely a better burger than Five Guys. Service can be inconsistent but most of the time it’s great. Simple, good, artery-clogging food.

We ate here after Hiking Crowders mountain at about 1 o’clock on a Saturday. The service was outstanding. It was pretty busy and because the inside is so small, there wasn’t any readily available seating. However, we hadn’t even gotten in the door before we were offered a drink. We took time to look at the menu before deciding to just eat outside. Which was fine with us, it was nice out and all. Our waitress was there in no time taking our order, later refilling our drinks and bringing our order pretty quickly. The food was not exceptional, but not bad… you get what you pay for. It was nice to see a very well run small family restaurant in this world of franchises and«plastic» food.

Found this spot on Unilocal while driving through to I-40 to drive back to the Southwest. I had the Lottaburger and it was quite tasty! I would highly recommend it. The fries were great, lemon cherry Sun Drop was a treat, and sweet tea was perfect.

Blackwoods is home of the Lataburger, to many, the undisputed best hamburger on the planet. There have been many Lataburger establishments, mostly in near-by Cherryville. This was our first time at the new Blackwoods, and the food was a bit cold by the time we got it to Cherryville. But there is still no mistaking the unique pleasure of dealing with and then consuming a good-old North Carolina coleslaw laden burger.
