I saw a billboard as I was road tripping on the way to Flagstaff AZ from California. Being the animal-fiend that I am, I googled this place immediately and I’m so glad I did. I made an appointment with them to come and see the alpacas because I’ve never seen one in real life and I have always wanted to do so! The owner was so friendly and he is so knowledgable on these adorable creatures! He took our family and another into the barn and we were welcomed by two adorable huge fluffy dogs, two pigs, and multiple Alpacas! They were all so delightful and Hershey, the brown alpaca was my favorite. Got some really neat pictures and learned a lot that day! They also have a store and my sister and I bought some magnets and some Alpaca wool socks, they’re sooo soft! There’s a one time $ 7 fee which is very reasonable. If I plan to ever roadtrip to AZ again, I’m definitely coming by again!

Wonderful place! It was 3 adults in our group, but we felt like kids again. Most adorable and cute alpacas. Learned so many things about those friendly animals. Don’t forget to get socks from alpacas wool — they are amazing, best ones I have!

«Best day of my life! They are beautiful creatures» {Jenna, 12 years old} We surprised our daughter on the way back from the Grand Canyon. She has been dying to see llamas or alpacas in real life. We were amazed at how knowledgable the owner, Ron was. The detail he shared on our personal tour was incredible! The kids got to walk, pet, feed Ted and other alpacas. There was a small store with some great specialty items. $ 6 to have a tour was a total steal!!! If you’re driving through or nearby it’s a great little stop!

Traveling with a two and half year old on a long road trip, is begging for a meltdown or two, unless you stop frequently. Instead of hunting down a fast food, indoor playground, I stumbled upon the Alpacas of the Southwest and we happened to be driving past on a Thursday. They are only open a few days a week, so check or call ahead if you want to drop in, to be certain of the schedule. The owner let us feed a few of the Alpacas and showed us the difference in their coats. I can’t recall the exact names but one is soft and the other is more a dred style. Lots of friendly Livestock dogs and even a pig, for our 2.5 year old to interact with. While it’s definitely hot in the summer, lots of places for shade and the barn is shaded space while you learn about the Alpacas. The only downside is the portapotty for a customer bathroom, while it was extremely hot inside that tiny space, it was clean. Wish there was a way to clean our hands too. Thankfully, I had some hand sanitizer handy in the car. Very friendly owner.
