5 stars for my first dance lessons since Tap Dance in 2nd grade. My wife and I were looking for some dance lessons so we could look sharp for our«first dance» at our wedding this year. A friend of mine that is big into swing dancing suggested we contact Maria at the Valley Forge Dance School. Maria has a great program for brides and grooms to be…100 $ for a 20 minute evaluation and 2 full hour lessons. You only pay if you are happy with everything. If not, Maria doesn’t collect and wishes you the best of luck! Our 20 minute eval went well enough… Maria listened to our song and showed us the basics so when we came back for the first hour session we were already learning the moves. Very basic stuff you repeat a few times with the music. Nothing fancy really. Just enough to look like you know what you are doing when the time comes and all eyes are on you and your wife! We came out of the eval feeling good. First hour long lesson didn’t go that well. I was actually warming up to it and had a good feeling about it. My wife struggled a bit and it made her nervous that she would have trouble when the big day came… Maria worked with us individually and together drilling the moves in, but my bride to be had a lot on her mind and messing up some moves on the dance floor gave her something to think about… 3 weeks before our wedding, 1 week before our final hour of dance lessons, we went to another wedding. The bride and groom simply rocked back and forth doing a couple dips and nothing more… it was very simple and very nice. The bride and her father danced and it was like night and day… It was pretty obvious they took the lessons and were going thru the steps out on the dance floor. It was adorable, but a bit awkward, and we knew we didn’t want to do it. We still had an hour available to us with Maria, but she thought it best if we just go the«rock back and forth» route. My plan was to meet with Maria for our final hour and try the actual dance for 30 minutes… If we got it, good… If not, we spend the next 30 minutes rocking back and forth with tips from Maria… This sounded like a good plan to both of us! Ironically, as the big day approached, we decided to do neither of these things and cut the first dance from the plans! My girl was so worried it was like a huge weight lifted from her shoulder when we decided this. We called Maria, but her deal for newlyweds is if you don’t like\use what you have learned, you don’t pay. This is an amazing deal if you ask me! So nice of her to give her time to us and not take our dime… the least I could do is write her this nice review and let other couples know about this offering! Check it out if you are thinking about it she is very low pressure and easy to work with. Maria has late hours… We came in at 9:00PM for our lessons which worked great for our schedule. Very nice, low pressure, no hype… check it out if you have the need to put on your dancing shoes!
