There are two Plaza Azteca’s in the area: KoP and Plymouth Meeting. They’re equally good. Menu is expansive, if not adventurous. Portion sizes are massive, food is very good(do spring for the fresh guac!) Service is generally attentive and it’s a really good value. I’ve been there for lunch and dinner. Never a bad meal. Only downside is that there is an occasional wait, which can be significant at peak times.

Very nice food but lack of customer service. Hard to explain what we want and the person who took our order has hard time to understand what we want. Finally he understood but his behavior was changed after that. He is not coming to asked us for complimentary chips n salsa so long story short would recommend this restaurant but look for someone who understand ur order and not ruined ur lunch/dinner.

Plaza has decent to good Mexican food the two times I’ve been. I’ve gone out of my way to come here and haven’t been disappointed. The prices, quality, and quantity of food I feel are fair. Pretty neat Mayan influenced décor, think Please Touch Museum. A place I’d return to.

Delicious food. The fajitas for two are huge! We have a lot of leftovers! We got them with just chicken and shrimp and everything was very fresh and seasoned well. The chips and salsa were flavorful, and just the right texture in between«liquidy» and«chunky.» We saw two tables order the table side guacamole and it looked unbelievably good. It looks like a tip for the person who is making it for you is appreciated, but not required(there’s a tip box on his cart that he wheels out). The fried ice cream had honey, chocolate, and strawberry sauce around it and it was delicious. I will definitely be back!

Food OK… service very good. First impression upon entering this cave like atmosphere and trying their complimentary chips and salsa was mediocre. The chips were ok, but the salsa lacked any pop and had no spice, and was quite heavily oversalted. Drinks were too sweet and not very well mixed as well. Tasted the special margarita they recommended and a mojito. Had their table side guac which was ok. We got one a little spicy and one mild. The spicy one was pretty good, and a very fair portion. The mild one however was too salty for me to eat. I ordered the Fajitas with shrimp and chicken… the chicken and shrimp were actually pretty tasty… but the side of beans was again very salty, and the sour cream was a runny liquid on the plate… kind of all mushed together with the lettuce and beans and sloppily assembled… also got no plate to make my fajitas on, so I was left a little oil drenched from preparing them in my hand. The beans and sides were also covered in a bland and very american montery jack… I would have loved to see some cojita or other variety of actual mexican cheese which would have been much better. Table all felt that everything was pretty much over salted. One saving grace, was that the service was very good. The waitress was very sweet and charming, and they all gathered for a surprise rendition of their version of happy birthday for my father, with a smile. it felt genuine. Give their kind wait staff a kitchen to back them up(read…less salt please) and this place would be 4 stars easily.

Just went here today with coworkers it wasn’t a bad experience. I started off with the coco Loso margarita which is to die for its basically like drinking a piña colada but on the rocks and not frozen and taste fresh! I definitely recommend it and get the jumbo size because will want more! So down to the dinner the shrimp was really good but the rice and my refried-beans was not that great it tasted like it was burnt but it didn’t look burnt It had a bad after taste I was really disappointed. I also didn’t like the fact that when its large parties that they decide to put tables anywhere and don’t have a reasonable pathway so I had to deal with people bumping into my chair and trying to squeeze between the back of my chair and the table behind my chair. Overall it’s not a bad Resturant they had decent dishes on the menu that I will still like to try and give them another chance but if my rice and beans taste the same then im convinced that they don’t know what their doing and in not coming back!

I’m so back and forth with this place… I only gave three stars because I do enjoy the food and it comes out so quickly all the time so I know if I’m really hungry I can rely on this place. I dropped two stars because the service is always inconsistent! Some days it’s amazing and others I can barely get a drink refill or my check. — not to mention I found a hair in my appetizer once and instead of taking it off the bill since our food had already arrived, they brought another one from the kitchen. I mean who wants an appetizer after their food already came out? Smh.

3.5 Stars The building is essentially a cave & the tables are sort of tight next to each other but the food is pretty good & for the portion sizes, it’s cheap. We started with table side guac & chips which you can’t go wrong with. It was a big portion for the 4 of us as well. I had a cucumber jalapeño margarita which was surprisingly really good. Portions were huuge. I had the enchiladas which came with rice, beans &3 different types of enchiladas. Other entrees included the chicken burrito & the fajitas dinner for 2. We all had leftovers the next day. There’s other local, non-chain Mexican places I’d prefer over Plaza Azteca but I would still come back as it was a pretty decent meal.

I would like to preface this review by saying that I am from Texas, and so, I’ve been spoiled by being surrounded by amazing Mexican food my whole life. I know this restaurant, or any restaurant for that matter, will never live up to my high Tex Mex standards. So, here it goes. The food was decent, the margaritas were awful, and the staff was great. They have really hard working people. Their food was good. I ordered the chipotle enchiladas. The rice was a little bland for me. The chipotle sauce was great when it was hot but it sort of hardened as it got cold. My friend ordered the shrimp enchiladas and she loved them, except it seemed like they cooked them with part of their she’ll still on. The chips and salsa were decent. The salsa was smokey and had a kick to it. The chips were good but they were cold. I would go to this place if you want to kill a craving for Mexican food and you don’t want to blow the budget. Just don’t go on karaōke Thursdays because it can get really loud and full of drunk people.

The food was just fine, I would say its equal to the Chili’s across the street though I would recommend going there first if that tells you anything about Plaza Azteca. One plus was that our food came out very quickly for a lunch meal, but then our waiter disappeared for about 30 minutes. The fajitas were alright, the tacos came out with the wrong meat, my friend described her taco salad as ‘juicy’ and not in a good way. When we finally got our bill we tried to use our Groupon and we then waited another 30 minutes until they told us they couldn’t apply it to the bill. I wouldnt return again and would suggest just going to the Chilis across the street if you’re stuck in KOP or head to El Limon if you’re looking for delicious Mexican.

Really good guacamole! It’s table side and they make it fresh right in front of you! Huge menu with tons of selections. Ambience is unique — feels like you’re sitting in some cave right out of Indiana Jones. Friendly and prompt service! It’s always packed in here and people are having a great time. Totally worth checking out!

Delicious Mexican food right across the street from KOP mall. I went on a Sunday around 4pm, so it was fairly empty. Everything delivered was fresh, fresh, fresh! The unsweetened tea was freshly brewed, and I like that all drinks are served in large glasses to minimize refill needs. The table-side guacamole was my favorite part because it was obviously made fresh-to-order, but it’s always ideal when you get to choose the ingredients as everyone likes their guac in different ways! The unlimited, complimentary chips were made fresh as they were delivered warm and crispy with flavorful, chilled red salsa. Finally, the chicken fajitas… yum! At first, I was disappointed because the menu states they are only served with green peppers and onions, but once delivered, there were plenty of red peppers as well. I LOVE red peppers for fajitas, so this was a nice surprise. The chicken was fresh off the grill with a smokey flavor. My fiancé didn’t like the charred tips on the meat, but that’s my favorite way to eat meat fajitas, so just FYI before you order them! The ambiance of the restaurant is nice and feels more upscale, even though you are perfectly fine wearing a t-shirt and jeans. Both the booth and table seats are nicely cushioned, so you always get a good spot. The bar is nice and has about a dozen seats in a long row with two flat screen TVs. Parking is ample as there is a large lot next to the restaurant. The menu also has a huge selection of margaritas, mojitos, and other cocktails. I highly recommend if you are craving Mexican food in this area! I don’t know why, but the food and ambiance is better at this location than the Plymouth Meeting location. I would give this place 4.5 stars versus 3.5 stars at the other one. Enjoy!

We sat at the bar and had the chirazo cheese dip! Was easy and got served in a sizzling iron skillet. The salsa was super spicy and fresh, and they brought more as soon as it was empty. We also ordered wings. Yes I know buffalo wings at a Mexican place. They were really really tasty and it tasted like they were grilled first and then fried. I would go back just for the wings. Now the bartenders were nice, helpful, knowledgable bit not on top of you. I wish I lived closer

This was a pretty good small chain mexican food restaurant. I went with the spinach and chicken enchilada and it was really tasty. There were two sauces, a green and white on there and I think the green was definitely better. The white one was a little too rich for me. The lunch menu is fair and you get a good amount of food for $ 6-$ 10. I would definitely go back again for another team lunch. The free chips and salsa are great.

Celebrated Son’s Birthday here and we all agreed it was really good food and solid service! Husband and I had the Ultimate Margarita — oh yeah! We ordered the guacamole — which they prepared table side. Chips and a spicy sauce are complimentary. We had a sausage cheese dip appetizer that comes out bubbling hot and served with warm tortillas. Husband ordered one of the steaks and Mr. Picky ate the whole thing! Son and I ordered burritos which were pretty good. Mine had beef cubes and onions — I wish there had been a bit more beef. The service here was great! Very attentive staff! Love the atmosphere and the music. It was all Husband and I could do to not get up and dance! We’ll definitely be coming back!

I have to admit, this may be my favorite Mexican Food restaurant now! The service was fantastic, everything came out with perfect timing. The salsa and chips were fresh and tasty. The salsa had some spicy but not too much. The beer was ice cold and served in a frosty mug. They have a cart that they bring to your table and make guacamole right in front of you and its served in a stone bowl. The guacamole was so good it didn’t last long. The food came shortly after the guacamole and it looked very artistic. The flavor of the food was amazing, they should be very proud of their work. The décor was also wonderful. Alexander was our server and he was very attentive to our needs. We will be back to try more of their creative tasty work.

Playa Azteca serves up tex mex food in authentic guise, and makes for an A OK choice. I’ve been here 5 times, and have always been pleased. Typically my visits have been with a large group. The food is good, and the service is great. The servers are always very friendly, and are typically hispanic– lending this restaurant a bit of «street cred» as it were. The large menu offers a ton of options ensuring that there will be an option to please everyone. The service is quick, and the guac is delicious(though a bit expensive). The interior ambience is okay– but nothing to write home about. Its a little bit dark and dingy inside, but the upbeat music playing and fantastic smells make up for that. Playa Azteca is a great option for large groups or kids. If you’re a hardcore mexican fan, take the short trip to el coquito over in conshy for some TRUE mexican fare.

This place was great! I selected this place for my birthday lunch with my girls this past Saturday. It was myself and 4 of my girls that all came from out of town to celebrate my birthday. We were seated right away and the service was fast and friendly. I ordered a steak burrito with rice and beans and a frozen strawberry margarita. It was seasoned well and ooo so tasty ! My friend also ordered guacamole for the table and it was a nice touch that it was prepared in front of us. My friends all enjoyed their dishes as well and the portions were huge. Overall, I loved the décor, the food was great and the service fast and friendly! Thank you Plaza Azteca

The Plaza Azteca in Plymouth Meeting is by far one of my favorite places to eat in the Plymouth/Conshy area. Their dining area is large and open, it’s nearly always busy and bustling, and servers are efficient and friendly. I’ve been to the location in King of Prussia a handful of time, and I definitely prefer the Plymouth Meeting location. I think there’s something about the vibe at PM that is missing from KOP. The latter is more closed off and dark. I think there are two or three small dining rooms, but you can’t see into them from the entrance to the restaurant. All of the walls are dark, which doesn’t help the closed layout. Plymouth Meeting is bright and fun and open and festive. On the plus side, KOP makes for a better date night spot, since it’s a little more intimate. The food at KOP is just as delicious and just as consistently good, which is important to me. Same menu, same preparations, all good things. If you’ve never been to a Plaza Azteca, you really can’t go wrong with anything you choose! I’ve had nearly all of their entrees(The Chori Pollo is amazingly rich and delicious), burritos, enchiladas, the works. One of my favorites is the shrimp and potato enchiladas, served with charred peppers and onions and topped with a yummy creamy, cheesy sauce. Service is quick, but I have yet to receive really personable service, which is not necessary to a good dining experience but it would definitely help the restaurant move up a star in a rating. Since this location is on the smaller side, I definitely recommend making a reservation if going on the weekend or any other busy time. If you’re on a budget, Plaza is great because most items are between 8 and 13 dollars and most portions can easily be stretched into multiple meals. Cocktail prices have surprised me in the past though, so if that’s something that would concern you, ask before ordering!
