Whether or not he is a good doctor, he does not return calls and his staff doesn’t return them either. My mom had a medical emergency… no call back. Called the next day in regards to medical history… no call back. Call to make an appointment for stiches… no call back. Guess the office would rather us go to the ER. Fine by me. My brother, and I, and my mother are now looking for another doctor.

He is the best PCP around. My physical health has turned around 180 degrees since three years ago when i first went to his office. No more high blood pressure as a result of his advise and my willingness to take direction.
I trust his medical knowledge, experience and care. I am extremely happy with all he has done for me and my family. If I move out of the area, still I would fly once a year to come see him.

Dr. Karkalas has helped me more than specialists, especially with gastro-​intestinal issues. Amazing! I’ve been to three gastroenterologists, but nobody really helped much until I went to Dr. K. He also has gotten my cholesterol and blood sugar down without medication (psyllium fiber), and has had specialized knowledge of issues for my husband as well. This doctor is one of those unsung heroes — although general medicine is not as lucrative as specialties, and this man is obviously brilliant enough to specialize and make big bucks, he stays with general practice, where I am certain he has done worlds of good for his patients.

Double Ditto!!! to Douglas M.‘s review. He is very genuine, incredibly knowledgeable on all subjects. Even calls at 9 p.m. with pertinent lab results. I feel he really cares about me. I feel motivated to take care of myself. He is always very supportive. I really delight in my appointments with him. Yes, he is the BEST all around physician I have ever had in my life– and I am a senior citizen. His office staff are friendly and efficient. He is completely in charge of what goes on in his office. I feel very priviledged to be his patient.

Dr. Karkalas is the best Primary Care Physician I have ever had. I was a patient of his 8+ years.
Things I like about him:
— He’s good on patient education, even going so far to photocopy pictures or articles out of his textbooks to give to patients
— He never made me feel rushed during an appointment
— He has evening and weekend hours
— He accepts walkins without an appointment.
— He has an offbeat sense of humor that I adore. And he delivers his lines with such a deadpan expression that I often don’t realize he said something funny until the appointment is over.
tl;dr: The man is a saint.
