This place is great! Hidden gem in King City(if you’re from out of town.) The staff is amazing. Justin behind the bar, Kim and Travis putting it all together! Great job guys. If you live in King City this is definitely the place to go. We’re from San Jose passing through for a weekend trip to Paso/Morro Bay. If you’re looking for a nice place to stop along the way heading down 101, this is the place! Fresh produce, locally sourced ingredients and great vibe/atmosphere. I’ll have to admit I’m hard to please when it comes to restaurants and I rarely write raving Unilocal reviews but this place has got it going on! Best of luck you guys, you rock! Keep up the good work! :)

I went with my cousin and he had moldy bread and felt sick after eating their food. This place should be shut down and not safe to eat at. Buyer beware they only gave him a gift card but we threw it away don’t want their food ever again period.

Moldy bread and the food is probably not up to code stay far away. Overpriced and the owners refuse to give your money back instead they gave me a gift card LOL uh I don’t want your moldy food. Stay clear if you don’t want to puke after eating the food. I miss the owners from the Grill these guys seem racist, rude, and not going to around for much longer in my opinion with their attitudes

Like a diamond in the rough when you’re on this part of 101. Very happy my family found this place and we don’t have to go to the usual road trip spots like In n Out or Denny’s. The food is good and I can’t say enough positive things about the menu. Comfort food with sophistication, reasonable prices. I had the chicken breast sandwich which was really good, it even came with homemade ketchup. The only thing I would say is that the fries were slightly over cooked. Other than that no other complaints. We ordered pasta for the kids and even though they didn’t have a side of veggies on the menu, they made some for my kids because I asked. Really cool and impressed. Also the restaurant is clean and décor is nice inside which was unexpected because there seemed to be nothing else around it like it. If you’re looking for good food and you happen to be near this place definitely go in! You won’t regret it.

5 Stars! We were driving through town and stopped for an early dinner. They are open Sunday till 7:00. We made it in time for happy hour 3−6pm margaritas were great, nice beer and wine selection. We split a steak sandwich and a salad. The chef has a very nice touch, wonderful flavors, without overwhelming your palate. I wish I lived closer this would be a regular place.

Great food and amazing customer service at the bar from Robert. We don’t live here, and it’s our 2nd time visiting and both experiences have been consistently amazing. Robert makes his drinks with passion and heart(I recommend the Santa Lucia that has floating dessert wine). We had the steak and chicken pot pie and both were flavorful and great tasting made with local fresh products! We will definitely be back! So if your passing through King City, and are looking to eat, check it out!

Stopped in here for lunch with two of my closest girlfriends on a roadtrip from LA to Monterey. Everything about this place is incredible! We were greeted instantly my Selene. We had our choice of tables and marveled at the lovely design of the interior, particularly the bar. They had a great list of cocktails in which we certainly indulged. Hey– it was 5:00 somewhere! I ordered a rosemary lemon drop which was out of this world. My friends got a vodka/soda with a splash of fresh squeezed grapefruit juice and a whiskey sour– a true one with the egg white for creaminess. All of these delicious libations were made by Selene and all were incredible. We ordered two turkey sandwiches and a mushroom burger. All of the food was fresh and you could tell it was locally sourced. The turkey sandwiches came with bacon, arugula, a Dijon mustard, and some sundried tomato type spread. Phenomenal! They also came with fries and house made ketchup which was delicious. Super pure and a touch of sweetness. The mushroom burger was tasty and cooked to order. Selene was constantly checking in on our table, making sure we had enough water and dipping sauces. She was so friendly and helpful– a true class act of an employee. She handled being a host, bartender, and server all in one. Bravo to Cork and Plough for having awesome employees like Selene. And who knew such a lovely cocktail spot and foodie haven existed off the beaten path in King City? I can’t wait to stop back in and enjoy more of the menu– both drink wise and food wise. Don’t miss out on this gem!

The food was great and the initial service was great. I ordered a glass of $ 6 wine. The waitress reported that it was out and made a recommendation. When I got my bill the replacement recommendation was $ 17! Any other place would have recommended a similar cost wine or told me I was ordering a glass that was three times the cost. I find that rude and unprofessional. Still yet the bar tender Justin made some great mixed drinks for my friends.

We found this place today after being stuck in holiday traffic much longer than expected. Lucky us! I ordered the Farmer’s Salad with Chicken. It was fresh and filling — just what I needed. Hubs ordered the Fried Chicken sandwich with fries and it looked delicious! They even served it with a house made spicy ketchup. Our son is with us for winter break. He’s visited many cities in the last few years and commented he’d had a number of $ 12 burgers, but the burger he ate here was one of the few that is definitely worth the price. This restaurant takes pride in the food they offer. The restaurant itself was clean and welcoming. There is also a bar area, but we don’t drink, so I can’t comment about that except to say the people having drinks seemed to be enjoying themselves. If you’re traveling and would like to spend an hour or so relaxing and refreshing, this is the place for you!

Great place to eat even if you’re not just passing through. Our family(kids ages 11 – 19) coming from San Diego to San Francisco knows great food and this is definitely a place to go for good, fresh food and a restaurant that looks like it belongs in S.D. The Farm fresh burger was thick, juicy and delicious. It came with fries or salad. I had the salad with citrus dressing and it was simple, fresh and delicious. My daughter had he Spinach salad that had an amazing goat cheese topping. My younger kids had the mini burgers and pork pulled sliders that was simple enough for them and filling(nothing was left). My son had the Pork and Cow with fries and that was juicy tasty and filling! We all tried their homemade ketchup which was yummy too. My husband and I got the Pale Ale clams but what we got were mussels instead. They were just ok. We also got a wine tasting flight. The wines were from local vineyards. It was great food, great wine, great atmosphere, great experience. This is definitely a place to check out.

I just finished a delicious lunch here. The bartender recommended the bbq salmon sandwich and the homemade clam chowder. I was not disappointed. I wish I lived closer so I could bring the wife and try the dinner menu!

Stopped in King City because we wanted to see Mission San Antonio de Padua. Well, didn’t see the mission, but discovered this place and glad we did. This restaurant is an anomaly in a town like this, but turns out the chef’s mother is CEO of the local hospital and she’s giving her culinary school-trained son a shot; I hope they can make a go of it. They opened in February and mentioned things seem to be going OK. We were there on a Saturday night and it was pretty quiet. The room is sparse and spacious but not too noisy. The specials and sides are on a blackboard that complements the menu. We started with the caramelized onion, cambozola, and balsamic flatbread and knew we were in for something special, it was rich and delicious. For entrees we chose the five-spice scallops and the pork chop and both were perfectly cooked. I suggested to the server they should really provide a steak/serrated knife for the chop because although it was moist and tender it was pretty hard to cut with the table knife. The scallops were on point, seared to perfection, and the pomegranate was an amazing touch. The service was attentive and friendly. The wine list is small and focuses on local vineyards, but overall a pretty good value. Highly recommended if you’re traveling on 101. Hate to sound cynical but try to get there before it folds because they’re really taking a chance here. They told me Unilocal!has a big help, so give ‘em a hand, you’ll be glad you did.

Homemade ginger beer, chalkboard bar, whiskey flights, and the S S Minnow. Who could ask for more? Well, YOU could, by asking for Rob as your bartender. He’s incredibly knowledgable, passionate about what he does, and he’s friendly as hell. A nice impromptu stop on our road trip!

We were on a road trip from Carmel, over Nacimiento Ferguson Road, through Jolon and on to King City. The Mai Tai cocktail was the best I’ve had! We ordered Steak Au Poivre, and started with the Onion Soup.(By the way, we bought some tamales to bring home from the tortilleria across the street first). I must say, the server, Justin, was delightful, friendly, helpful, and efficient. We both ordered Steak Au Poivre. This was an excellent choice. My string bean casserole which accompanied it was delicious. The steaks were grilled to perfection.

Hubby and I went to this place after spending the day at Pinnacles National Park. Food lovers that we are, we searched for a dining experience we could enjoy. I read about this place after some research, and decided to give it a try based on their farm to table claims(which is in line with what we generally like to eat, and very similar to the restaurant I work at). We were greeted and seated right away by a very friendly bartender. The décor is minimal but in good taste. The food was good, but a far cry from what we are used to. I guess for a place like Kings City though, it is above average. My first sign of a problem was when I asked for a recommendation on a drink. The description I was given was a far cry from what I received. It was so disappointing I can’t even remember the name of it… it should have been called«drink a rosemary bush» because that’s what it tasted like. I was offered to exchange it and went for the more familiar Singapore Sling. It should have been called gin on the rocks because that is how bad it was. My second sign of a problem was when I asked the server how the rabbit was prepared. She didn’t know. To me that is scary in a fine dining establishment. So we had the mushroom toast which was to die for Great blend of herbed goat cheese and mushrooms on a perfectly crisp toast. The French onion soup was great and the watermelon salad with Chile lime dressing was full of flavor. Hubby had the steak with peppercorn sauce that was super flavorful, but the grilled zucchini was bland and without flavor. I had the braised rabbit with fettuccine… all I can say is tiny tiny bones. And if you are going to serve«fresh» don’t use dried pasta. Stopped eating halfway through. Finihed the meal off with the peanut butter balls sans the bourbon.

What a pleasant surprise to find this level of care in presentation and flavorful food in King City! They create dishes using local ingredients and take a huge amount of pride in their delightful restaurant. The décor is modern and clean, the staff friendly and of course, the food was really enjoyable. We had the Local Charcuterie Board, which was very tasty and presented so well. I had a local Cabernet and hubby a good beer, and we shared a fried chicken sandwich which was served with fried and house made ketchup. Feeling like a dessert was in order, we had the crispy peanut butter bon bon’s with a shot of bourbon. They were just delicious and so unique!

Atmosphere A+ Waiter(Justin) A+ Food A+ Drink A+ Did I forget anything? We highly recommend this place. As people who frequent quality restaurants(Yountville) we tend to have extreme standards. Everything from the music to the meal was EXCELLENT. Who knew we would get this lucky on our road trip home from the Central Coast? I only wish we lived closer.

Well for this area I can see why people give it more stars… But I’m no fool. When Unilocaling to see where we could eat while we popped off the highway, it seemed like there was an over abundance of Mexican restaurants and I wasn’t in the mood for Mexican(Should of stuck with the Mexican food). So Cork & Plough caught my eye and had some descent reviews, and seemed like a gem in this small town. The restaurant itself is great, clean, high ceilings, modern, not to over cluttered, bar seating, high top seating, regular level seating, lots of potential. The hostess who seated us also became our waitress. The other staff didn’t seem very friendly nor did anyone else try to greet you or give you a smile. We received our bottle of water, and ordered a starter plate which was the roasted mushroom toast, I went with the grilled chicken sandwich and the bf ordered the farmhouse burger. I remembered after we had ordered our waitress never did ask my bf how he would like his burger cooked(Hint to their cooking style or lack there of). We received our roasted mushroom toast, which was to have herbed goat cheese. It did have the herbed goat cheese, which tasted only of the herbs; goat cheese has a unique flavor to itself but you could barely find it and was overall unimpressed with this snack. Doesn’t seem like they mixed this goat cheese themselves, tasted store bought which would explain the flavor. I would have maybe reversed the order in which they served this, doing the toast, mushrooms, and then add the goat cheese on the top then broiled them to give it a better texture. Our dinner came out, and it was a sad affair indeed. I could barely find any chicken within my sandwich, it was pretty much ALLBUN and it seems they used regular old grocery store buns which made it worse. I took the insides out of my bun and was left with very little, only saving grace was the fries. My boyfriend was rather disappointed with his burger as well which they used the same bun as my chicken sandwich. As he put it… «It was very anticlimactic». I can see why people would like this place because they are tired of Mexican food, and they did seem to have a nice beer & wine menu… But food wise they better get their act together. I even over heard the grumpy waitress tell another staff member of another customer complaining that they put way too much sauce on his pasta dish. Plus sides — Location, good booze choices Down Sides — Food is meh. Bad Attitude Staff — The whole hipster thing drives me crazy to begin with, but not smiling and acting like your too cool in a restaurant, yeah… Not a good combo. You can still have your stupid lil style, but please smile… You could have meh food, and fantastic customer service and people would keep coming back, but meh food and shitty attitudes… Well you won’t be open very long.
