If you’re in the Kilgore area for lunch, this place is a must. I came in from out of town not expecting much from an East Texas restaurant, but this exceeded all my expectations. The restaurant was very clean and modern, the food was excellent, and the wait staff was great — I even had the front door opened for me by the hostess while I was walking up! I had the grilled chicken sandwich and fries, and I wasn’t expecting so much flavor as it was a simple sandwich, but it was wonderful. The bun added an extra flavor that really complimented the sandwich, and the handcut fries were also great. Waitress was very nice and attentive. Great experience all around!

Unfortunately, they still are not consistent. Sea Bass undercooked and not seasoned at all. May have been frozen since it was watery. The waitress really did not care either way. Their steak are really good and their calamari appetizer still good.

Food? Absolutely delicious. Service? Top notch. Prices? Well, lunch is very reasonable, but they seem to make up for it with their dinner prices. You can get a $ 10 lunch that will fill you up. When it comes time for dinner, watch what you order because it’s easy to spend $ 75 per person on a meal, glass of wine, dessert, and tip!

I liked this place so much I ate here twice; once for dinner and again the next day for lunch. Although I came here originally for their pork and beans it was disappointing that it is no longer on their menu. No fret, their 14oz pork chop is still on the menu as well as its new pairing of Brussel Sprouts and a corn cake flan. The pork chop is very tender and juicy. The Brussel Sprouts are slightly grilled to maintain its crispness and the corn cake flan is outstanding. For lunch I had the hamburger steak with caramelized onions and mushrooms in a Demi glaze served with huge stalks of asparagus. The patty is at least a half-pound of beef, hand formed and grilled to medium rare with the Demi glazed served on top. The asparagus stalks are slightly grilled in olive oil. The food is really, really good and as a visitor to Kilgore it is nice to find a restaurant with great food that isn’t a chain. Only drawback? Their tea isn’t brewed it is served out of a soda fountain but don’t let that discourage you from getting eating at Jack Ryan’s. You won’t be disappointed with their food and the chic casual atmosphere inside the building.

Love Jack Ryans! The lunch menu is very reasonably priced and it is a great place to take business guests in town.

Dear lord, I don’t know what I was expecting when I walked in but it certainly wasn’t to find the equivalence of a four star restaurant in this tiny town. My wife and I went for lunch, she had the tuna and I had the country fried steak. Both were excellently crafted works of art. Our server was attractive but not hovering and we both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We will be back!

I have had about everything on lunch menu. Two favorites are steak sandwich and chicken fried chicken. Although everything else is great. The sauce on steak sandwich is awesome. Service is very good. 5 star service at lunch every time. They serve you in no time with friendly people. Can’t wait to eat at Tyler location.

Still love lunch at Jack Ryan’s and the Chicken Penne continues to be my all time favorite. However, recently enjoyed dinner there and wanted to comment. Great(did I say GREAT) wine list with impeccable wine service — something I find important when I’m paying what I know to be double the retail cost of the bottle. Not to criticize Jack Ryans’ — that is the common up-charge for wine in area restaurants. Appetizers: Crab cakes and calamari are both spot on. The calamari reminded me of some I had in Hawaii — «it don’t get no fresher than that!» Salads: Classic wedge and Caesar both fresh and tasty. Entrees: Seabass — perfectly seasoned and cooked. Only complaint, I think an accompaniment of mashed potatoes and a veg would have been more complimentary than was the cassoulet(bean stew). The cassoulet, though well seasoned and a nice dish on it’s own, just didn’t seem to highlight the lovely piece of fish. Kobe Flatiron Steak: Wonderfully flavorful and perfectly cooked, but a few bites were a tad chewy. Accompaniments of twice baked potato and some of the most perfectly grilled asparagus ever were a nice touch. No dessert for our table this time.

Decent and reasonably priced steakhouse food with a unique atmosphere. Went here for lunch and much of the menu was under $ 10. Staff was quick and friendly. Would definitely go here again.

The best steak in Kilgore! Some good friends took me out to this place and I was really impressed that a fine dining restaurant existed in Kilgore. Really wanted to try the pork chop but they were out so I settled on the steak. It was good and the sides were also. Also serves later in the evening on the weekend, for East Texas, that’s nice to see. The staff was good but they seemed to be working too many tables and were always rushed.

The food was EXCELLENT! I was traveling through Kilgore and chose this place because of their good reviews. Wow. It was so delicious. I had the lobster mac and cheese and then chicken and waffles for the entrée. Very very vey good.

Someone while on a work trip suggested we try it. It was pretty good! A bit off the beaten path but once you find it the atmosphere is really nice. Local artists on the walls, open seating, friendly service and the food was good and reasonably priced. I had a filet with mushrooms and it was done perfectly. It had a great wine selection for being in Kilgore. Next time I travel to the area I will try it again!

This is my 2nd review for Jack Ryan’s. They are still a solid 5 Stars and are guaranteed not to disappoint anybody. Lunch and dinner will satisfy all, and if dinner is too pricy for you, then lunch will surprise you with a menu mainly under $ 15 with many under $ 10. Best BLT anywhere. Even from home. This baby is loaded. Thanks Jack Ryan’s for being 5hat diamond in the rough in East TX.

Absolutely outstanding and well worth the 40 minute drive. A real world-class gem in a small east Texas town. From the friendly and welcoming staff to the contemporary artwork, this restaurant provides the perfect ambience for a great meal. The meal was outstanding including melt in your mouth steaks, smoked mashed potatoes, and perfectly cooked asparagus. Pricey by east Texas’ standards but well worth every penny. Will definitely be back here. Glad we made reservations. Place was packed.

Went to visit my parents in Kilgore, Texas. I was hangry after my drive, so we went to Jack Ryan’s for dinner. It’s close to downtown, so it was just a couple of minutes from their house. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a classy joint in a small town. I’ll break it down into pros and cons, and I’m a little more detailed on this review because I see so much potential here and want to give thorough feedback. Pros: The service was good. There are two servers per section, so you’ve always got someone looking after you. They had a tasty special pizza appetizer which we split. Always check out the specials. All the staff(hosts, bartenders, servers) were super friendly. Hosts opened the door, servers were quick and polite, bartenders were willing to change the channel on the TV. They don’t use trays. It gives the place a classier feeling. My steak was great, prepared correctly, and the potatoes in the skin were amazing. The bread pudding. Trust me on this one. Get it. Very clean and comfortable restaurant interior. Cons: No sparkling water. Pellegrino or Perrier would be appreciated. Host staff took a minute to decide where we should sit. You should always know where you will seat your next few tables before they even walk in, so you can escort them right away. Hospitality should appear effortless. The crust on the pizza special was sub-par. The rest of it was spot on. Need nicer silverware(again, being thorough here). Everything else was so nice and upscale, and but the utensils missed the mark. I will definitely be going back the next time I’m in town, if only to get more of the bread pudding.

Best place in the whole of East Texas… hands down! Gourmet food in a relaxing but contemporary atmosphere. The chefs know what they’re doing and how to combine flavors and textures for a delicious and very well plated dish at an affordable price. The menus, both lunch and dinner, is very clearly published on line for you to peruse before you make your reservation or show up for a table. There is a good selection of items to choose from and everything is extremely fresh and flavorful. Wait staff is well dressed and versed in customer service. I’ve eaten here several times, always with a different server and I’ve never had a single issue. Hostess is prompt and eager to seat you. Décor is simply contemporary with a little old world chic thrown in for good measure but the display of art for sale is exquisite & tastefully done. Lighting is superb and surprisingly the noise level isn’t disturbing. The downside is that the parking in this area is horrendous! Overall, a great experience every time I’m there!

KEDCO– National Industry Month Meet & Greet This place competes well with any in Longview or Tyler and it’s right here in Kilgore,(Winning!). Heavy snacking was involved. Great service, even for young people. The bartender remembered my drink. I guess when you go back enough, you program them! Good atmosphere! Industrial leaders, one state official, a bunch of local officials. This was well done.
