Went there for lunch today but sadly they have closed the deli. Such a shame. It was a fantastic place with great breads and interesting sandwiches. So much better than any chain food. Thank you Gianni’s for the great food. You will be missed!

I am so sad. I went yesterday with my kids for lunch and it is closed. This is the very first place my now four year old would go happily as a baby. They would give us a slice of cheese for him to nom on and made the best egg sandwiches and reubens pretty much ever. I had my usual orders that were always awesome and the times I deviated I was always happy. We turned a ton of people onto our favorite neighborhood deli and the staff was a group of talented and big-hearted folks. I woke up today craving the Gianni’s egg sandwich and I don’t have my favorite people to make it for me.

Let me first say, I like Gianni’s Espresso Deli. I have never had anything there that I didn’t like, so why am I giving it 2 stars, because they are really good when they are open! They list their hours on Saturday till 8 Pm, this past Saturday I made a special trip there and they were closed! I was there at 6:45 and they were closed. Why do they say they are open but they aren’t. This is not the first time this has happened either. I will now call first to make sure they are still there because of this happening before and I suggest you do the same before you drive over there. It is very disappointing to get there only to find out they closed for? because they are supposed to be open till 8PM.

I originally stopped in to grab a coffee while trying to finish my Christmas shopping. When I got to the door I noticed a sign in the window that said«all sandwiches available on Gluten free bread». I had the Ruben and it was really good! Bread wasn’t dry and the texture was the closest thing I’ve had to «the real thing» in a long long long time! KUDOS!!!

I love being able to grab a pastry or sandwich and a good beverage when I’m starving and in a hurry. Very convenient to Rand and major roads, as well as the shopping centers across the street and nearby. Very nice staff, seating space is comfortable but a little sparse. One of my fave stops in the area.

Great little place to get a quick bite, especially when the bigger restaurants are busy. It’s charming and casual, with some gourmet options. Our first visit here was good enough for us to return a 2nd time. However, on a recent rainy Friday evening, I got a bad bowl of soup. It was supposed to be vegetable, but what I got was mostly chicken broth, with tiny slivers of chicken, & a few meager chunks of pepper & carrot. It was obviously the bottom of some pot of chicken soup getting recycled as vegetable. I took it up to the counter telling the wait staff it’s a good thing I’m not a vegetarian, & to be more careful how they label things… this was thin chicken broth, not vegetable soup. They kind of shrugged behind the counter, smiled, said they were«sorry», & that was it. Disappointing. Please, manager of this deli, keep an eye on your quality, in menu items & customer service. A place like this should do a better job with soup.

Food was good, I had their pizza. However, it was not very«authentic» by any means. I would eat here again, but I was kind of let down when I expected a real Italian deli /café.

A year ago Giannis had a terrific lobster roll. I was there 2 weeks ago and the new one is awful. Who puts green and red peppers in a lobster roll. Additionally the roll was just a dry almost hamburger bun not a butter toasted bun and to make it worse the lobster was almost ground up. Whoever is work the recipe doesn’t know what makes a good lobster roll.

I had that Mediterranean salmon and it was excellent. Additionally, the oil, parmesan and spicy mixture of olive oil with their fresh bread was a great appetizer. This is a super restaurant with great service.

Very good sandwiches. Daughters got the caprese, which had heaps of fresh mozzarella and were dressed with a Balsamic drizzle. I had a ruben that was just perfect, hubby had the steak sandwich, which was cooked perfectly. Cute décor, friendly service. We were the only ones in here on a Saturday night, but we could hear them taking pizza orders.

Thanks to the help of Edson, their best worker, my friend and I got the Panino Di Sienna and the Italian grilled cheese. Both were made well and were delicious! Edson accomodated us to what we liked! Great place and great food.

I could become kind of obsessed with this place. The first time I came here, I ordered the grilled veggie sandwich. It was absolutely outstanding. The sandwich was the perfect temperature(hot), and chock full of veggies and cheese. The bread was a bit crunchy on the outside and soft/warm on the interior. My sister ordered the yogurt parfait and said it was the best one she’s had. Today, I ordered the tuna melt. I would not consider this a typical tuna melt. It was different — but delicious! The menu says italian style, and I did taste a hit of olives or capers. I think it is served on a sun-dried focaccia bread, which was fabulous. I also ordered the oreo truffles — ORDERTHESE!!! They are one of the best things I have tasted in my entire life. I have already called and placed a bulk order for the holidays. I’d like to figure out how they make these(crushed oreos and what else…) to get the dense, rich, deliciousness these cold truffles become. Yummmmm.

I am so happy my wife and I stopped in here for breakfast. The place is small, but they have a huge menu with a lot of options. If you don’t see what you want, just ask. I am sure they would be able to make something work. My wife ordered a bacon and egg sandwich on a plain bagel. She really enjoyed it. I ordered the filet breakfast sandwich. A 4-oz filet(cooked perfectly) with lettuce, tomato, onion, and sriracha mayo. It is to die for, and I would recommend it to anyone in the mood for a hearty and delicious breakfast sandwich. I also ordered a cup of the turkey chili. The chili was pretty spicy with plenty of turkey and peppers. I would recommend giving this place a shot if you are in the area and looking for some really good, well prepared food.

I really wanted to like this place. I specifically chose this spot for a little date night for my man and I based on all the stellar reviews! I went at dinner-time on a Tuesday night… maybe that was the problem… We both ordered a stromboli. The inside of them tasted pretty decent, but that was kind of overshadowed due to the bottom of the crust being burnt black… Yuck… Maybe we ordered the wrong menu item. We also got a cannoli which my boyfriend said was pretty good and I got a mini red velvet cupcake which was okay. I don’t want to totally rule out this place because everyone else seems to like it so much. Maybe we went at the wrong time. Maybe it depends on who is working.

Gianni’s Espresso Deli is so so cute! Location: It is in a strip mall with Old Navy and Red Robin. Really convenient location. Atmosphere/Décor: It is so cute! When you walk in, it is as if you are transported to «old world Italy». There is a faux balcony with clothes hanging off of it. Everything is made to look rustic and Italian. Their menu items are written in chalk, and they have their desserts in glass displays. Also, it was refreshingly quiet! I could hear my lunch companion, and she could hear me! I hate loud music at restaurants, and this was not one of those instances! Food: Because some of my fellow Unilocalers suggested it, I got the portabella sandwich on focaccia bread. It was soo good! The bread was toasted with a crisp golden outside and yet so soft. Inside was a huge piece of mushroom with cheese, roasted peppers, tomatoes, and other good good stuff. It was really good. Not amazing, but really good. So, after the meal, we obviously wanted to go for some dessert and asked to try some samples of their gelato. Unilocalers, I am one of those obnoxious people who will try every flavor at an ice cream/fro yo/gelato joint before I purchase. I don’t want to blindly purchase! Anyways, so I tried the Vanilla and Pistachio, and they were just so underwhelming. To me, gelato should have a smooth texture. This was chunky and kind of strange. Vanilla left a weird aftertaste in my mouth and pistachio was just ehh. Even my friend, who I went with, said she had better. She tried Double Chocolate. It was decent, but we’ve had better. But all in all, the sandwich was good! So based on everything minus the gelato, I’d say it is a great place with a variety of food to try! The décor is really cute, and it is refreshing to eat her vs the typical Chipotle or McDonalds.

Sometimes I meet people who say they don’t like olives and I’m all like, «You ain’t right, son.» Olives are basically one of the best foods ever and I’m fairly certain I could live off them if I had to… that is, until I died of malnutrition and dehydration. Which, all things considered, doesn’t really seem that bad if the lead up involves eating a ton of olives. I loved Gianni’s Espresso Deli because every heaping focaccia sandwich we ordered had some surprise blend of diced up olives in it. It was unexpected, complimentary to each dish’s flavors, and much appreciated on my part. The décor is super cute — made to look like an old world Italian alleyway with clothes-lines strung from balcony to balcony clipped with vintage drying men’s and women’s garments. I didn’t to a hard count on the tables but I’d estimate the place seating somewhere around 30 people inside and there’s easily room for another 30 outside on their alfresco dining area, The women working behind the counter were as sweet as they were patient as I took my sweet time numbering down the many things I’d wanted to order and were quick on the uptake of my large chai tea latte order(it was a winner!). My partner ordered the portabella sandwich with perfectly sauteed mushrooms, melted cheeses, a lite blend of spices, olives and more on a plump focaccia bread bun. I tried a bite and it lived up to the hype, but in a one-on-one match-up, I think my sandwich choice was the clear winner(my dining partner would argue otherwise, though). I got the their warm tuna melt sandwich, also served on focaccia bread. The mix of tuna to other ingredients was perfect and especially loved that it didn’t taste like just a bunch of celery like so many other places make it. From the first bite to last it was a dream sandwich scenario and the bits of seasoned, diced olives folded in to each bite only reinforced that.
