Ululani’s Hawaiian Shave Ice

My niece and I had some this afternoon and I am not a shave ice person but Ululani’s is perfection of flavor and size. Love, love, love.

Great way to cool off! 3 stars for the rainbow snow cone… it was way too sweet!

Best dessert ever! I could eat this all day and then get fat and die happy. Mango, passionfruit, calamansi (hybrid of mandarin and kumquat) over macadamia nut ice cream all day.

If you haven’t had Ululani’s, you haven’t had shaved ice. So light, so fluffy, and their syrups are made with Maui fruit. If you find a white spot, you can skip the line and they’ll add more syrup. Get the ice cream on the bottom!

I never was a huge fan of Shave Ice til we stopped here !!! BEST EVER. Its is so smooth and all the flavor really pops out… The hardest thing is to decide just which one to pick. We usually pick the multi flavors. I guess if I had to choose Mango is my favorite. The Kihei location is my favorite. Right across from the beach really cute multi color picnic tables with cut outs to place your Shave Ice cup. It gets crowed on hot days so be ready you may have to wait but it gives you time to figure out your choice from the huge menu ;)

Once you have authentic Hawaiian shaved ice from here, you’ll never look at shaved ice the same again, trust me — I know, hello from maryland! Kinda wish I never ate here because now I crave it and there’s nothing that comes remotely close to the soft powdery ice. Trust me if you’re in Maui — you MUST stop by!

I tried the mango, passion fruit, and coconut over Macadamia ice cream. All were really good but my favorite was the coconut that was really amazing. Micro size was perfect. Would definitely come back.

The greatest shave ice available anywhere. Forget about any place that you liked before, any shave ice you had one time that you thought was great. All shave ice you’ve had outside of Ululani’s is garbage. Every time we go to Maui we stop by almost daily. Other places make a big deal out of their «real fruit» flavor options, and they all taste like crap. Ululani’s mango has pieces of mango in it, you can see the fruit, and it’s delicious. I never tried a flavor that wasn’t great.
I’m writing this review from vacation on Kauai right now. I’ve tried four different shave ice places here, all had great reviews, all four suck. Horrible. I’m thinking about a day trip to Kihei just for a large Mango/​Pineapple/​Passion Fruit at Ululani’s.

The absolute best Hawaiian ice I have ever tried. I visited the island for 5 days and I ate here 4 days. This explains how good it is.

This is the best place is Maui ever! The ice is the finest ice in the world. It is so creamy, yet does not melt. The service is so friendly and nice, with smiling faces. Selection is vast, and it is hard to decide what to order because there are so many wonderful flavors. But thanks to Unilocaler’s reviews and photos, I was able to decide easily. I suggest getting the snow cap and homemade mochi on top. The mochi is to die for-​so soft and just the right amount of sweetness. Also, try the Mac nut ice cream and Azuki beans. The line is quite long, yet seems to move fast. You can expect to wait around 30 minutes on average on a weekday in the after noon. I’ve been going here over several years, and I am happy to say that it has gotten better every year. They have expanded their windows, added several tables, and provided more shade when waiting in line. We loved the custom, convenient shave ice holders built into the table.

The BEST shaved ice ever! A trip to Hawaii isn’t complete without a generous serving of Hawaiian shaved ice (or many)! Ululani has got to be the best on the island hands down. Super fluffy ice, icecream at the bottom and plenty of flavours to choose from! A must come in Maui!

«Micros» are huge. Go for the ice cream at the bottom. Macnut ice cream with coconut, mango and passion fruit on top. So good.

Seriously the best and addicting! They gave us a frequent diner stamp card and we filled it up to 6 in just a couple of days! My husband wanted to go here every single day!
The small size is already a big portion that you can share! This place is legit and has all the different flavors and toppings to die for: mac nut ice cream, Li hing mui powder, Mochi! Huge chunks of Mochi, too!

WOW, is all I can say. Ululani’s takes the shaved ice cake!!! I spotted a line and knew something about this place must have been good, so we pulled over and decided to give them a try. I got three different fruit flavors with a scoop of haupia ice cream and almost cried Jesus tears from the deliciousness of it all.
It was creamy, cold and they certainly don’t skimp on the flavor. In fact, if you feel like they didn’t put enough syrup you can go back up and have them pour more. The tables have holes in them so you don’t have to hold your shaved ice while you eat. Great! Now I have an extra hand free to scoop my fiancée’s shaved ice too!
They are right across from the beach so it makes a perfect pre, intra or post beach snack. The young kids working there are funny and friendly. The line doesn’t move quite as quickly as you’d want it to but please be patient, it is totally worth the wait!

Ooohhmmmyyygoossshhh!!! Best Hawaiian shave ice in the entire world! I’m from California so the shaved ice here is rocky, hard, and not so good. This shaved ice in Hawaii on the other hand is soft, fine, snowlike, I mean this is some real shaved ice! Their variety in flavor a is huge! Whatever flavor your in the mood for, they’ve got it! They can serve up to three flavors, huge portions. Flavors are so yummy and tasty, felt like I was eating a real mango. Beach is literally across the street if you want to walk over and enjoy your shaved ice while you watch the beautiful view.

I LOVE YOU ULULANI’S! I was in Maui for 5 days and visited Ululani’s twice. I would have gone a 3^rd time but I didn’t have enough time.
Shaved ice should be as fine as Ululani’s shaved ice. The ice was so finely shaven it tasted so good (don’t go perving it). The artificial local sugar cane syrups were good as well (my favorite is the Cotton Candy). Tons of ice, tons of flavored syrup and a snow cap to boot. The lines are long depending on when you arrive, so have your orders ready when you reach the employees. Employees were young but super nice. They were pros at shaving the ice and adding the syrup!
Loved the tables with the holes in them for the shave ice containers. NO BATHROOMS… go to the porta-​potty across the street at the beach (GROSS).

I’ve never been a huge ice cream person but that macadamia but ice cream at the bottom of a big shaved ice sphere with lots of syrup had me coming back day after day. I swear I planned each afternoon off of the fact that we would have time to make a stop at ululanis. Natural flavors and silk smooth shaved ice made me a fan.

BEST I’ve ever had! I tried the best reviewed shaved ice when we visited Oahu and when comparing that, Get Shaved in LA and Ululani’s, HANDS DOWN THIS PLACE WINS!
The ice and their flavors are incredible. The syrup they pour into your order is not the sugary store bought type. It actually taste like they hand squeeze every fruit into the ice.
My husband orederd «Rising Sun» and I ordered «Sunset Beach» we both got snow capped (a.k.a. condensed mild on top) and ice creams to go in it.
Ice cream + snow cap is a MUST DO!
The staff are very friendly.
We were lucky to not have to deal with long lines but if you encounter said long line, don’t be discouraged. WELL WORTH IT.
Their tables have cute little holes to place your cones.

Oh man! This place surely deserves 5 stars. I didn’t want to admit that Maui has better shave ice than back home, but this place had me so impressed. I always get lihing mui and my fiancée always gets strawberry so of course we got half and half. We ordered the small with vanilla ice a cream. You can also ask for macadamia nut or haupia ices cream, I think. We paid about $ 6 for a small with ice cream, but so worth it. The ice was very soft and absorbed the flavoring nicely. Not one white spot!
The lihing mui flavor was PERFECT. The fiancée thought it was a bit strong, but I loved it. Usually shave ice places can’t get that nice lihing flavor. The strawberry was also very good. They have a lot of other different flavors to choose from and even have a list of good combinations, which is helpful for people that don’t know what to get or don’t know what flavors go well with each other.
This place is a MUST TRY.
