My favorite thing that I did in Maui! I booked a morning tour over the phone. I loved my horse and the tour. We went through a beautiful private property and it’s something you have to see; tons of yellow butterflies’ color contrasted with my horse’s dark brown back in front of ocean. I don’t know where else I can experience this thing again.

Beautiful ride in Maui! We booked our trip here because it was highly recommended and it sure was worth it. They only take 5 – 6 people per ride so I highly recommend to book in advance. They provide water, soda and snacks for your trip. Also, they have the morning and the sunset ride, we did the sunset ride and it was gorgeous! The scenery was very beautiful and the smell of nature was amazing. The staff was very professional and knowledgable. The horses are well kept and very well trained

We really enjoyed our horseback ride at Makena stables. Our guide was encouraging and informative and made sure everyone had fun. I definitely recommend booking in advance– since they only take 6 people per day, the trips fill up fast. This trip is appropriate for both first time and more experienced riders. The scenery is beautiful and the pace is pretty gentle. There are quite a few rocks and hills on the trail but even the first time riders felt comfortable because of the guide’s instruction.

The highlight of our trip. Beautiful horses combined with a lovely guide and a small group of only 5 riders made for a wonderful few hours. Seeing the majesty of Maui from horseback is breathtaking. Make sure to have denim and sturdy shoes to ride with.

We booked ahead for a morning ride a few days before leaving for Maui after just a few rounds of phone tag.(Not their fault; I just kept missing their calls, something which was exacerbated by the time zone difference. Just keep in mind that you might want to leave a few good times to call, and give them a cell phone number.) Neither of us had been on a horse before, but that was no problem. We received some basic instruction, which was all we needed. Then it was off for a ride along some trails which would ordinarily not be accessible to the general public. We rode up to a now-dormant volcanic vent, receiving some history and cultural information along the way, as well as a few tips on things to do and places to go. After snacks and photo-ops at the vent, we rode back to the start. If you’ve never been on a horse before, be prepared to be a little bit sore in the legs from it. And be aware that there are some height and weight limitations as well, so know them before you book. Staff was very friendly and helpful and made it a great experience, and one we would gladly repeat!
