The mac and cheese was terrific, I believe made with aged gouda. The pulled pork sandwich was good as well. Odd location: inside an office building. But, who cares! Great service, good food, great beer selection.

Great beer and bourbon selection. Somewhat of a strange location and a little difficult to find the front door at night but nice environment inside. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and was not a fan(very vinegary for my taste but other may like that style) but my friend got a burger and I tired his and thought it was delicious.

Wanted to try this place since we kept seeing all the fabulous food posts on IG. I am sad to say that it was very disappointing! Food was average and the service was lacking. We arrived around 8 pm(Monday night) and the place was dead(there was only one other couple in the bar/restaurant when we arrived). We got seated quickly and the waitress did come to take our drink order and tell us the specials and what they were out of(cheese sauce). We finally ordered and it didn’t take too long for our food to come out. I ordered the House BBQ Pork Sandwich, tasted okay — nothing special. The saving grace was the tater tots hahaha(up charge $ 3.00). My husband ordered the Patty Melt and he liked it. We also ordered the Brussels Sprouts and Chicharones — both was delicious(this is why I gave 2 stars). The waitress came by once to ask us how our food was and that was it. We had to flag her down for our check. Again, the place was not packed. Sad to say, we will not be going back here for a while(I always use the 3 strike rule). Hoping the next time we decide to dine there that the food lives up to picture hype and the service gets better.

We stopped by after Maui brewing company. Totally worth it! We had the house burger, the bun was excellent and the balsamic was an interesting twist. Best part is that we needed the burger well done and it was still juicy. Tater tots weren’t anything special but the house sauce elevated them. I think it was like a tartar sauce. Brussel sprouts kicked ass. Charred with balsamic and then sweet carrots on top. Last thing was the waitress said she made a mean old fashioned. She was right. Perfect balance of liquor and fruit. Parking is around the corner from the actual sign/patio but we parked on the grass and walked in.

We were starving after spending about 6 hours on the Road to Hana and wanted a giant delicious burger(because all we’ve had is fish on this trip and we are from the Midwest and are meataterians). I had the Reuben which is ground beef and corned beef ground together and topped with all the fixings of a traditional Reuben on a Rye bun. The beef mixture was unusual and I loved it! My husband ordered the Bacon Jam, because bacon. We each cleaned our plates and nothing was left. Sub tater tots because they’re the best and a must have whenever I see them on a menu. Since we skipped lunch we ended up here around 4pm which was perfect because it was quiet, we sat on the back patio and we got 20% off for Happy Hour! Service was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend if you are looking to satisfy your burger cravings!

We were looking for a local spot with a chill atmosphere for dinner with the family. This place was perfect. We had great service and the food spot on. We sat on the patio so we could watch the sunset. We ordered the brussel spouts for the starter, amazing!!! Here’s what we had for dinner. Brisket sandwich, pulled pork sandwich and the House burger. You know the food is good when everyone’s plates are empty at the end. The food was really great! Thank you and keep up the good work!

The cocktails still shine but the service and food is slipping. They are revamping their food menu and the changes aren’t for the better. I ordered a Banh Mi sandwich and was warned it was going through changes. They were so right. It went from a tasty and exotic vietnamese style sandwich on a roll to a bland pulled pork on thick brioche bread. I split it with my husband and was bored with the flavor and over abundance of run of the mill salty pulled pork and thick bread and left a good portion of my half behind. We told the bartender we had a place to get to when we ordered a second drink and she lagged at getting us our check and running our credit card.

Just finished a great meal here: Starters: 1. Roasted Brussel sprouts with carrot and sweet soy. The sweet soy worked great with the bitter/savory profile of the vegetable. The carrot added some freshness to keep the dish light IMO. 2. The Mac and cheese was creamy and smooth. The crumble topping was buttery, bacon — but not heavy. We shared among three and personally, the portions were small(only complaint). I had the house burger — the balsamic glaze may not be everyone’s thing — it wasn’t for me either… But as I kept eating… It got better when it combined to with the cheese and we’ll seasoned patty. Wifey had the shroom — she was happy with the amount and wife really, really likes shrooms so I was glad she liked it. Burger is also quite big — all of them were. Which leads me to the last sandwich: the patty melt — huge portion! Good griddle job on the bread. Cheesy and salty, great with beer. Sister also had the onion rings which were nice! Onion was tender and the crust was crunchy and fried perfect. I have read a few reviews with people going in about tater tots… Whatevs really… They were regular, not bad — just regular. For all I know — straight out of the freezer. Not special. I had kettle chips with my house burger — they were served warm, which would indicate that they are made fresh… But hard to tell. Nonetheless they where salty, crispy and good with beer. I don’t drink beer so it went well with my ice water. For dessert, I had the bread pudding with«bourbon sauce». I hope that they fix this sauce as it was paired with chocolate. But the chocolate totally powers out the bourbon. No trace of it whatsoever. If they wrote«bread-pudding w/chocolate drizzle» I’d still buy it and been happy. But I felt like I should speak up about it. Waitress and I spoke on it for a minute and she promised to take it to chef… it was still good though — I ate it all. Lol. There were Chocolate chips and walnuts on top. If I could make a suggestion, maybe some toasted coconut for added crunch(in my mind, I know it works). Overall, I give this place 4 stars primarily due to the fact that it’s the best meal I had since being here in Hawaii. I don’t know what would give this place a 5… perhaps better sides with burger? Or actually getting bourbon in the bourbon sauce. I enjoyed it and if I have time to go back… I will.

Aloha! Great burgers! We went into the brewery next«door» for a tour. After that we(5ppl) decided to eat at this place. It was hard to find it, because there are no proper signs. A few years ago I worked in a Michelin star restaurant and we didn’t have a sign either and it was full all the time, so I was fine with that. When we stepped in, we were offered A place to eat on the terrace. I ordered a(they were out) sourdough bun:( First two meals were served by the executive chef. She apologized that there were some ingredients missing and offered to replace them with other. My friend who ordered that meal was happy with her suggestion and after two minutes he got his portion. We would be disappointed if this all would be dealt through the waitress. This high problem solving skill of the employees made us to trust them. And yes, burgers were fantastic! That’s all you need after couple of beers after beer tour. Mahalo for reading this.

Hmmm… Maybe I’m spoiled because I live in Portland, but this place was not great. To start, it’s not marked from the outside so you enter the front of this odd office building hoping you’re in the right place. The next is it took a while to get noticed by the poor only waitress in the joint. Next up I order a beer, a Scrimshaw Pilsner, and it’s skunky. Not really the restaurant’s fault, but disappointing. Then I’m told they’re out of the chicken. How does one run out of chicken?! Then the table next to us is not told about the chicken but is instead informed they’re out of sourdough. Great. I got the Bahn mi. It sounded amazing but in actuality had no flavor and they burned the bread and served me an end piece of meat and bread. Ummmm??? The pork on it was bland and there wasn’t enough sauce to make up. Then the tots were overdone but I love tots so I still liked them. My husband’s patty melt was good, so I think the idea here is stick with the beef and you’ll do ok. I have a family member who lives on the island and recommends them so I don’t know. Maybe it was a bad day. Total bill after tax and tip was $ 57 for 2 burgers with sides of tots and 2 beers. Gotta love Hawaii prices!

Located in what looks like an office building, almost didn’t want to go in and look for a restaurant — décor definitely fits the vibe and staff — simple, sweet, no nonsense and inviting. House burger for me, house BBQ pork for the hubby. Also ordered the CPB bread and butter pudding to be brought out with our meal. Standard side — Maui Potato Chips(can change to tater tots, chicharones, house salad, or onion rings for $ 3). I stuck with the standard side and he got the chicharones. Food was absolutely delicious. BBQ pork sandwich came out with the wrong side(tater tots instead of chicharones) quickly corrected by our server(who was also the bartender). Bourbon sauce with the bread pudding was strong for my taste, but didn’t stop me from«tasting» a third of the plate. If you have a chance, tater tots and that dessert sauce — awesome!(That was his idea, but a damn good one — hah!) Except for a few chips, three slices of bread pudding(which we took home) and a handful of tater tots — we cleaned our plates. If your in the area — definitely worth giving them a try.

#CowPigBun is one of the restaurants you find on Unilocal that is intriguing enough to check it out for yourself. 150+ reviews, 4 star average, creative branding, great photos and a unique menu are the draw, and you can only hope the food lives up to the vision you’ve created in your head. I’m a believer that there’s a place in this world for big gourmet burgers that cost way more than one really ever should. But I also believe, in order to command the price, that burger better be absolutely downright delicious and perfectly executed. Unfortunately that isn’t what I found at Cow Pig Bun, and I was pretty dissatisfied with the entire experience. As the name implies, the menu is a simple equation comprised of cow(burgers, brisket, etc.), pig(porchetta, pulled pork, bacon etc.) and buns(housemade focaccia, brioche etc.). Burgers and sandwiches range from $ 14-$ 19, and include some tasty sounding combinations. At those prices, I fully expect to find a fresh ground local beef patty, locally grown organic produce, housemade specialty sides, additional artisan accoutrements, and statements galore proclaiming all of this on their menu. That’s not the case. We ordered a «House»(Focaccia, bacon garlic aioli, gruyère, arugula, caramelized onions, balsamic glaze — $ 14) and a «Bacon Jam» burger(Brioche, blue cheese, lettuce, bourbon bacon jam, pickled onions — $ 16) both medium rare, a side of tots($ 7) with house sauce and brussels sprouts($ 8) to go. The combos sounded great, and I thought the House burger was really good, with the focaccia being a really nice bun choice, and the tangy gruyère and spicy arugula playing nicely with the sweet onions and balsamic glaze. The Bacon Jam tasted mainly of blue cheese, and I while there was a lot of it on there, I couldn’t taste the bacon jam or the pickled onion. The burgers themselves were a little off in texture too, and slightly under seasoned. Temp wise the burger was more a medium/medium well, which is a risk you take when taking something like this to go. Overall though, these were ok. The worst part had to be the tots. With the popularity of these as a side dish, you’d think a restaurant like this would be making these in house for their guests. Well, you’d be wrong there. Straight from the freezer to the fryer and served with a «House Sauce» that was basically thousand island dressing. The Brussel Sprouts were decent, though over sauced with this sweet soy sauce. This dish could easily be better with some flash fried sprouts, carrots and the other garnishes, and a light coating of the sauce. Bottomline: I don’t think this restaurant delivers on the value proposition the prices portray. It’s not bad, but you better be prepared to pay.

I really wanted to like this place. I really did. I mean it’s got the charm. It’s got the location next to the brewery. Is got a great idea and name. It’s got a good platform and it’s got the market. What it doesn’t have is the execution. Admittedly I am a bit of an equalist. I noticed right away that there were very few men here. Either working or patronizing the place. Let me put this in perspective. It’s a burger and BOURBON bar. I mean it’s fine that women are there. But I would expect there to be some men working there somewhere. I saw one. Second thing. We ordered our food. I had the Jam Burger and the Missus had the Brussels sprouts and tot nachos. Kiddo Had Mac and cheese. The prices seemed a bit much at first but not really out of line compared to Maui prices. Being used to farm to table and organic and blah blah I was expecting this. I was also expecting something on the menu denoting such qualifications. But I could not locate any such text. Maybe it’s somewhere else but I couldn’t find it. Which brings me to my next point… The jam burger. Great idea. Lousy execution. The party seemed boxed and the bun seemed like it belonged at Burger King. Hardly warranting the $ 16 price tag it came with. I kept looking for something that warrant the price, free trial of local whisky(nope $ 10 extra). A little waitress on patron action(nuhwayimsayin) nope! A free appetizer? Nope! Nothing. The only saving grace was the fact that their happy hour was 30% off. Making this burger $ 11 vs $ 16. Although I would price this burger at $ 8 that was a little easier to swallow. My lady got a pretty decent meal though. She got the sprouts(excellent) and the tot nachos.(Pretty good.) the tot nachos are a good thing to make at home. In fact you could make it home and save like $ 8. I get paying for service but oh well. The sprouts though seem to be the clear winner. The Mac and cheese is totally uneventful. The service was slow. Not like island laid back slow. But like mainland slow. Maybe my perception was a bit skewed but for the price I’d pass on cow pig bun. There are better venues for your money on Maui. The only thing that helped the sting of the check was the fact that it was happy hour and they discount their food 30%.

Alas, I am back on Maui and returned to CPB for my all time ever favorite mushroom burger(see my prior review). Imagine my extreme dismay to find that they have removed that burger, a hugely creative, one-of-kind burger eating experience in favor of their«new mushroom burger» a tasty but totally ordinary, run-of-the-mill burger… what? In this day’s burger craze, everyone is vying for the top, high end burger. Many are very delicious, but there was no other as delectable, unusual and just plain sensual as that former mushroom burger at CPB. I sent so many people there for that burger I should have asked for a commission ! I truly do not see a reason to go back. Nor will I send friends there, unless I happen to receive word that by popular demand, the original and amazing mushroom burger is back! The second star off is for the handful of uninteresting, poorly thought out potato chips on the side of the expensive burger. I admit I am not a huge chip fan, but really, there are so many more creative things that could adorn that plate. Also I was told the reason for the mushroom burger being changed, is that they have a small kitchen and that incredible burger had too many ingredients on it that took up too much space. What a disappointing loss. I am now on the hunt for my next new all time favorite mushroom burger.

Its my very first time coming to this restaurant. The location is a great way to get away from the crowded area. The building itself looks like a hotel once you enter straight ahead is the restaurant. The food was good had the Mac and cheese I thought was gonna be bigger but looks like an appitezer to me but it’s alright. I do would like to come back again and try their burgers any recommendation? The environment is calm relaxing good way to spend time with love ones and friends just to enjoy.

After reading everyone’s review on this place I was super excited to try this place. To be honest I love the location due to it’s away from the craziness & up above the golf course across the street from the Maui Brewing Company, They are located in the black business building, there is lots of parking spaces. When you first enter into the building it’s straight ahead, you can’t miss it due to you see the bar first. When my friend & I got there around 3pm, we were the only ones there & I thought they were closing up or something due to all the workers were cleaning up. The waitress was super nice & told us we could sit anywhere. To be honest it was kind of humid in there & I thought their AC was broken or something. The set up in the place was pretty nice, kind of a small place, & the bar took up most of the space in the middle. I am a big Mac & Cheese kinda person so my expectation was pretty high. The wait to order & get our food was not bad. Once we got our food I was a little disappointed on the portion & temp of the food. My Mac & Cheese was kinda warm & cold at the same time, by the looks of the pictures I’ve seen on here looked pretty big but in person it was small to me. I would def. would like to try again with this place & try their sandwiches the next time around & knowing my husband he’s really into his hard liquor & seeing their liquor menu I am sure he would like to give it a try.

I hate giving a crappy review. In Fact, had any one major part of our experience gone well, I wouldn’t be writing this at all. We came in around 9:15 to grab a bite before we head back to our condo. Cute place tucked away in what looks like an office building. Though because it was late, couldn’t see the surroundings. We sat down and everyone was very nice. We ordered a drink and wanted to split brussel sprouts and a patty melt. Nothing crazy and overwhelming. First, my boyfriend noticed there were french fries all over the floor under his feet. We just asked the waiter to clean that up and he was on it. Very sweet and apologetic. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. I had my drink quick but the food… we had to ask twice about it. Had to be at least 20 to 30 min in an almost empty restaurant. Finally he brought out brussel sprouts. They were fine. A bit sweet. Like, I could tell there was sugar in the soy mix. But, defenitely something I’d like we’ll enough. I swear, after the second time we asked about our meal, only then did I hear meat starting to grill from the open kitchen(we had no view of it). Finally, our patty melt came out. Not melty. It tasted like dry, overcooked meat, not much thousand island or cheese. I thought with the first bite it would do in a pinch. My boyfriend told me it was incredibly salty. I thought he was being dramatic. My 3rd bite was the clincher. It was a salt lick. Like they dropped salt over the patty and tried to scoop it off. Just awful. We told them we had to go. A couple of bites and we were done. The waiter was lovely but this isn’t to deter others. It’s for getting your S together and working those seeming kinks out. Sorry, we really were hungry enough to like almost anything but our time was completely wasted. We ended up getting turkey wraps at ABC instead.

If I could give one star I would. This place was DEAD. No one was there when we walk in other than the hostess, bartender, and line cook. It took over twenty minutes for our lunch, which was awful. The bottom bun of my burger was so drenched in aioli I couldn’t even eat it. The onion rings which are an extra $ 3 were soooo deep fried I would bite in and it would go everywhere! Deep fried batter covered the table. You couldn’t even tell there was an onion inside it was terrible! Don’t listen to the hype this place is not good.

Warning… this place is located tucked away in a business park of some sort. We parked in the parking lot Sunday night and weren’t sure if were in the right area. We had followed the signs from the street to park and finally walking into the office building we were rewarded with the sign of the CPB double doors. The place isn’t particularly huge but since it wasn’t busy it accommodated our group of 9 just fine. The center of the place is the bar while the dining tables are on the two sides, there is also a patio with tables for more seating. Décor has a urban gastropub kind of feel. We ordered the Tako salad, mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts to start. Of those, the Brussels sprouts stood out. Glazed and crisped well, it was the favorite of the appetizers. I’ve had a lot of Mac and Cheese in my time and while this one wasn’t offensive or anything, it did not stand out to me. Tako salad was a huge pile of delicious arugula with fried pieces of baby octopus and goat cheese. Not bad, but a little strong on the vinaigrette. Well we came for burgers so burgers we ordered! I had the Bacon Jam Burger and it was pretty good. It was a burger with onions, blue cheese and bacon bourbon jam. Juicy, they didn’t skimp on the blue cheese, and you really could taste the bourbon… mmmm. And the best part was that instead of fries sandwiches and burgers came with their home made, freshly fried pork rinds. Hog Heaven!

We have visited this place a couple times so far(for lunch and brunch) and the house burger is to die for! The soft focaccia bread and grass-fed beef melt in your mouth! We also enjoyed the other items we tried: spicy [bloody] mary, the side salad, house chili, and pancake plate. The chili was loaded with meat and had a soft flavor that was well balanced. The pancakes and scrambled eggs were light and fluffy, as I like them. It is a little weird that the location is in an office park, but that’s not hard to overcome once you get inside the restaurant. The staff are warm and inviting and the service is attentive, but not overbearing. The pork rinds(with bacon jam) that come with their burgers are tasty, but not really our preference. If they add an option for a side of fries to their burgers they would be really hard to beat since their house burger is the best I’ve ever had! Overall, we loved the view of the golf course overlooking the Maui coastline and the food we had was amazing!

Fun friendly and knowledgable staff, nice ambiance with a modern rustic feel. We loved the ply wood laden walls and open stainless steal kitchen. The house burger was so moist and full of flavor. The peppery-ness of arugula instead of standard lettuce went so well with the sweet caramelized onions. Interestingly it was serviced with pork rinds… true to the restaurant name. I loved the Cannibalistic cocktail which is their version of a margarita: Espolon Tequila, Phở Syrup, Lime, Thai Basil, Ginger. The salty spice rim was so different but totally worked! I don’t often find Brussels sprouts on menus so when I do i have to try them — sweet tangy sauce, bacon and roasted perfectly. We’ll be back.

This is an interesting pub. Cow Pig Bun serves sandwiches and burgers with a side of your non-traditional pork grinds«chicharon.» This comes with a bacon jam that I feel didn’t pair well. I got the bacon jam burger. It was just okay for me. It comes with bacon(not crispy) blue cheese(I subbed it for pepper jack) and vegetables(soggy) it was more of a disappointment. Did I mention bacon… not crispy. My friend got the mushroom burger, which looked and tastes a lot better. For drinks we got the Menehune. To me it was basic. The service was lacking. I asked for suggestions or recommendations, she just kept saying it depends what you like and really couldn’t suggest anything. Checked up on us once. It was just eh. I would probably come here again and try the samples of liquor and alcohol. The ambiance was great and the vibe and music was enjoyable.

I was recommended their House Burger and let me tell you that did not disappoint. That burger was one of the best I’ve had in my life. It was juicy, delicious, and I forgot what type of cheese it was but it was great too! For me, the balsamic really set this burger off. If I had more time in Maui, I’d try their other burger to see how good it was too! The place is located inside the black-windowed Premier Place building. There are 2 tiny CPB signs pointing you to the parking lot, but from there it’s very anonymous. Just enter through the main doors of the office building and they’re straight ahead. ATMOSPHERE: There’s a small central bar with an upfront view of the open kitchen. The décor is industrial chic. There’s a tiny, home-style raised wooden deck outdoors with a view of Lipoa Street. It’d be nice if the outdoor space was a traditional permanent lanai set against the building which would be more spacious and take advantage of the views of the golf course and sliver of the ocean. MENU: Very small and easy to choose. Salads, burgers, sides, but more beer, liquor & drinks. FOOD: Mac N Cheese — It’s really a penne and cheese, really tasty and topped with chopped bacon. Good app to share. Brussels Sprout — If you’ve ever eaten at the now defunct 100 Wines in Lahaina, their version is pretty close. The sprouts were cooked perfect in a sweet & savory seasoning. Another great app to share. Mushroom Burger — This was delicious, but far from a traditional-tasting mushroom burger due to the amazing sriracha aioli spread. French-fried onions also enhance the burger. Instead of fries you get a handful of pork rinds. Very pricey at $ 18. SERVICE: Asia was our awesomely friendly and professional server. She’s also very knowledgable on wines. OVERALL: City restaurant atmosphere, pricey, great service.
