The breakfast plan that we pre-purchased with our hotel was great! Lots of options with slight changes each day. Tip and tax is also included when you do the prepaid plan so you end up spending a lot less than if you were going out to eat elsewhere. Staff is super nice, which is true of the entire resort. Would definitely recommend the breakfast plan to anyone staying at MB&GR!

My husband and I enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The food is decent quality, and you get quite a wide range of choices of fruit and breads. We like how they change it up a little every day as well. The staff is extremely friendly. Service can be a bit slow, though.

Great food! Let me start by saying that the hostess, Julie, couldn’t have been a better start to our visit! She was so polite and upbeat. Truly happy to have received such great service!!!

I’m not on the breakfast included plan, and decided to venture down for breakfast and see what the fuss is all about. Wasn’t super hungry, so I opted to not do the buffet and try the loco moco. After all, how can you mess that up? Upon arrival I knew I was in trouble. The gravy was a pasty greyish color, unfamiliar to me with any previous loco indulgence. Sadly, the taste was as «off» as the color — bland. Had to ask for soy sauce to simply choke it down. On the plus side the food was hot, and the setting is serene and peaceful. If not for that this experience would yield one star instead of two.

Breakfast was great and diverse everyday! Part of our hotel deal! However if you go without the deal. 25 $ is a lot for breakfast!

Delicious food for a buffet. We always feel rushed to get in and out. Fluffy made to order omelets. I wish there was more variety. They change a few items daily but for the most part it stays the same. Got the package with our room. after three days we stopped going because it got old. The waiters remembered us and always brought what we needed. Ie ketchup etc.

Great Ambiance. Casual and peaceful. I got the eggs Benedict, and they had gluten free bread available for it! Woohoo

Eggs Benedict was outstanding. Breakfast buffet pricey(aren’t they all?). Service is not the greatest. Beautiful setting. Will have to try this place for dinner.

The breakfast here is delicious! Nice service. They addressed us as Mr. and Mrs. was cultivated a romantic feeling even at breakfast. Delicious omelette bar(with egg beaters and egg whites as options!) I love that the carb options are a little different each day. We ate there 7 days in a row and was not sick of it I loved the creamy hashbrowns… I wanted more of them :( Delicious!

Absolutely LOVED the warm, fluffy, sugary Malasadas here. Similar to a doughnut, sort of like a beignet, just BETTER. Best on the island and served in a relaxing open air setting on the Koi Pond at this nice hotel in Makena. Super friendly service as well.

My husband and I stayed at Makena Beach and Golf Resort for 4 nights and had«Daily Breakfast for Two» included for Café Kiowai. Its a very decent buffet style breakfast with amazing atmosphere. Loved sitting in their open indoor-outdoor setting next to the koi pond listening to the beach just beyond the trees. The food was pretty good all around. Nice selection of fresh fruits, yogurt, granola and hot and cold cereals at the first table; next the hot foods like scrambled eggs, bacon and(a revolving menu of different) sausages, potatoes, waffles, sometimes pancakes, a selection of breads; and at the last table: an omelet station. You tell the cook what you want in your omelet and he makes it right there for you. I’m not a huge omelet fanatic but I told myself that I would at least do one omelet while I was here just because I could! It was a lot of fun and tasted very good! I fully enjoyed my 4 free breakfasts here but I think if I had paid the $ 25 per person price tag it wouldn’t have been worth the money. I had one moderately filled plate a day, of mostly fresh fruit. glad it was free because sitting and eating my breakfast here was lovely, but never would I pay $ 50 to eat so little in the morning when hardly ever eat breakfast anyway.

We had our first night dinner here in Café Kiowai and was being seated at the garden next to the pond. The view was really nice. The most important that needs to be mentioned is of course the FOOD. The chef’s special«Alfredo Seafood Pasta» was awesomely delicious. Appetizers, raw oysters and ahi tuna carpaccio are a must try. We went back on the second night and tried another chef’s special«Pepper Crusted Mahi Mahi» and South Maui BBQ baby back ribs on the menu. I have to give those two dishes a five star as well. We will definitely come back to this resort and restaurant again.
