Maui Massage and Yoga

Bummed OUT! I scoped out yoga for my Maui trip and decided this would be an awesome Sunday morning spot for me and my group. Was excited to meet the teacher after all the good reviews– I read even her subs are great! I checked the website many times including the day of and never came across anything about the teacher being out of town. It stated classes were every Sunday weather permitting. But we got there, yoga ready. and no one was there to teach…

I found Johanna by chance on the internet when looking for a massage. She’s simply fantastic. If you’re looking for an excellent, therapeutic, massage that leaves you feeling relaxed and refreshed, then I would definitely give her a call.

I have never enjoyed yoga as much! I love being outside, facing the ocean, and getting a wonderful workout.
Johanna is an excellent instructor, she is pleasant to listen to, easy to talk with, and gives plenty of direction — I appreciate that because there is usually something in each pose I can improve on or forget to do, and her tips and guidance are very helpful. Bring a mat or borrow one, and get ready for a great way to wake up.

Johanna is a wonderful teacher! The flow of her class matches the ocean in the background, with turtles and whales swimming by. Her instruction is great, with meaningful readings and a smooth workout. She creates a friendly and comfortable atmosphere for everyone, in one of the most beautiful class settings in the world!

Johanna was an amazing instructor. Yoga beachfront was a perfect way to round out my vacation. Beautiful location, very friendly and an amazing yoga clas! Thanks so much Johanna!

I don’t think yoga can be topped doing it here on Maui in Kihei with the lovely ocean as the backdrop. Johanna was a great instructor and made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. I was only sorry I could attend one class during my one week stay.

So I lived in Maui for two years and Johanna was one of the first people I met there. Right away I began taking her ocean front yoga classes and I knew I was in heaven! I had studied yoga with several different teachers and studios in L.A. but no one was as caring as Johanna. She really takes the time to make sure you are doing the poses correctly but has that perfect balance of assisting but not overdoing it. I always felt refreshed, relaxed and stronger after each class. The class was even gentle enough for me to do during most of my pregnancy. Johanna always welcomes modifications so you can make your experience as easy or as challenging as you like. And you certainly cannot beat the ocean front setting! Very often we saw turtles, dolphins and whales swim by while doing the class! You can’t get more Zen than that. Whether you are a local or on vacation, you should definitely check out her amazing classes! In addition her massages are top notch… she has the strongest hands of anyone I know and gives just the right amount of pressure. Johanna is the best! Nevermind the rest! :)

I’ve attended Johanna’s yoga classes, and love them. I’ve got a moderate amount of experience, and she always has something new and helpful to teach. The yogis who sub for her are also really wonderful.
I would advise you to grab a place near the front, in order to help your visibility — since it’s outdoors and there are no studio mirrors, etc. At a reasonable price and nice atmosphere, I come back as often as possible.

I have had the opportunity to receive massages from Johanna as well as take her yoga classes. She is both calm and strong. I have never had a better massage. She has an innate ability to know what your muscles need. I have taken many yoga classes and find hers to be among my favorites. She does a great job of blending different styles.

Yay! I’m so happy I found Johanna. I went to her office (she shares an office with a chiropractor (it’s small but clean and cozy). I love firm-​extra firm massages (i.e. thai massages), and she hit all my pressure points. If only I had booked her for more than 60 minutes!

One of the best massages I’ve ever had! Johanna was an extremely lucky find for us. She came to our condo with table, supplies, and calming music, and easily did two back to back 1.5 hour massages. She was very skilled & professional, didn’t talk any more than we wanted to (she let us lead this — we prefer fairly quiet), and knew exactly how far to take the pressure. She has training in massage and yoga, and incorporated a little stretching with both my wife and me. She has been doing this on the Islands for 10 years and has an impressive breadth of training. We will definitely hire her again next time we are in Maui.
