Checked out this wine bar for the first time. Free wine tasting in December for first timers is not the case when we asked. It’s a false advertisement. We were looking to try new reds. The one who was helping us just pointed us to her«favorite» and didn’t comment on its flavor or finish. We’re not looking to talk to a sommelier but just someone who knows the wines that they are selling. We ended up getting bottles of red from CA where we know the wine regions that they come from. We’ve always enjoyed the wine stations for wine tasting. Most of their wines are on the pricy side. Good place to hang out though.

My husband and I biked there for happy hour. During happy hour the wines are all automatically discounted as they rest in their pristine little gas filled, air free dispensers It was great to be able to try a taste, a half glass or a full glass of so many premium wines. We ordered cheese and charcuterie to accompany our wine and sat at the bar. Everything was delicious and everyone was so friendly. What a wonderful addition to Kiawah! We can’t wait to go back!

Fortyeight just opened in Freshfields village, and it’s such a cool place! They are a wine store and bar with 48 wines by the glass and 840 wines by the bottle. Beer lovers, they also have 48 local and regional bottled and canned beers, too! The best part is how you get your glasses of wine: you’re given a card and go the different self-serve vending machines that each have 16 wine selections. You put your card in the machine and select a taste, half glass, or full glass. It’s really fun to walk around and choose different wines to try! Plus, if you really like the wine, you can buy the bottle from right underneath the machine. They’re going to be starting light appetizers next week, and we will definitely be back to try them!
