The food here is decent, but the lack of customer service is appalling. The waitresses lie and say they put things in your take out bag, when in fact, they did not, nor did they double check it. No croutons with the soup twice now, no au jus with my french dip… so what do I dip it in??? If it happened one time, it would be brushed off, as people make mistakes, but this is the third time this has happened and is a result of liars who are too lazy to do their jobs correctly and are in a hurry to get out at 9pm on the dot. Not to mention the fact that I am allergic to mayonnaise and after specifically stating this, was given not only mayonnaise on my sandwich, but coleslaw on the side. THISCOULDKILLME!!! This place does NOT live up to the hype, because they do NOT care about their customers. They think that since they are receiving some notoriety and«fame» that their customers are replaceable. Well, that is fine, because you will be a flash in the pan and your fame will be short lived once the word gets out that there is no care or concern for treating your customers right.

This was my first visit to broad street diner. I could tell immediately upon entering that this place was a local favorite. Perfect I thought. The place was busy and that meant I had to wait a while to be served. My order also took awhile to arrive but I thought good food takes time. My meal arrived and I was disappointed to discover that my hash browns and bacon were undercooked. Normally, I would have sent it back but I had been fasting the day before to have blood work done that morning so I was pretty hungry. The eggs were good as was the coffee and rye toast. The wait staff are friendly and seem to know most of their patrons. It’s a cute diner with nice décor but for my visit the food was so-so.

Took last Friday off and was deciding on what to have for lunch with my sister. With nothing in particular we decided to re-visit Broad Street Diner. The menu had some interesting lunch specials so we both ordered off that menu. I selected the Greek platter and my sister ordered the Prime Rib sandwich. The Greek platter contained a nice large cube slice of spinach pie, a Greek salad with pita slices, a skewer of chicken meat, sliced pita wedges, and tzatiki sauce. Spinach pie was awesome. A flaky and crisp phyllo dough exterior held the deliciously rich spinach blend. The feta cheese used in the filling was so tasty. Greek salad was very fresh with a tangy vinaigrette dressing. Chicken strips were also fresh and lightly seasoned with the classic Mediterranean flavors of salt, pepper, and lemon. Tzatziki was so delicious and on par to some of the better Greek restaurants I’ve eaten as it was a nice thickness, creaminess, and had just enough tartness. Sister enjoyed the prime rib sandwich that was excellent. A crispy toasted baguette held the super moist and flavorful beef slices. A side of au jus was included and was really meaty in flavor as it should be. Oh the fries! Some of the best fries you can indulge on with a slight pock-marked crisp shell nestling the fluffy starch potato inside; these hand cut delicacies could be served at some of the best name brand NYC steakhouses… they are that good. Seasoned perfectly too with just a sprinkle of salt. Both our lunch specials included a dessert choice of various puddings, from which I selected the bread pudding and my sister opted for the rice pudding. The bread pudding was awesome and definitely worthy of getting again as a stand alone dessert! The bread used(probably Challah) soaked up all that pudding mixture resulting in a rich, eggy, and creamy guilt trip. Sweetness level was nicely restrained too with the use of cinnamon. Rice pudding, comparatively, was not as good, but overall a very solid rendition. It was executed well, but didn’t wow me like the bread pudding. These two lunch specials were an absolute bargain when you consider the large portion and excellent food quality!

Everything I’ve heard and read about this joint is true. A step above any other diner I’ve ever been to, even though it’s still just a diner. The food is amazing, stick with the house made specialties. Only glitch is if you go before 1030 am it’s usually packed. Nice wait staff and very good coffee also.

This is a little railroad car style diner, there are about 20 small tables, and when we were there at lunch time today it was really busy. We sat right away and got drinks and ordered right away, service was very quick and friendly, it seems like a place where there are a lot of local regulars which is definitely a good thing. I had the cheeseburger deluxe which was very good, surprisingly good, I would never expect to have such a great burger in a diner, comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, and coleslaw and pickle. Their fries are great, crispy and seasoned. My daughter had the kids pancakes which she was tickled pink when she saw it was in a Mickey Mouse shape. All in all it was a very good lunch, they were ranked number one diner in New Jersey which they definitely are in the top five but I think tops in Newark is the best.

Without a doubt one of the best small established businesses in keypodt. The new management is incredible and the food couldn’t be better for the price you’re paying. I go there at least once a week, my only reason for giving a 4 star rating are the waitresses, recently I’ve been going in there more and more and I notice a lot of younger waitresses there and they are extremely rude and not very friendly on the phone either. I will never let that harsh my experience but something to be noted as I’ve heard this from many people in town as well. Otherwise A++!

I must say what a cool little place. I’ve been here a hand full of times. And wasn’t disappointed with the food. I can say that this place gets packed and is hard at times to get in. due to its size. But if you have the time I would wait it out to try it out!!. The breakfast bowls are great and so is the rest or there menu. But my go to almost every time is the keyport bowl. Fills you up every time.

Service was good. Food was great. Good coffee… Which is very important for diners! I was pleasantly surprised. The diner is small and has that«original» antique diner look to it. Nice place we will be back. Soon

Simply the best food around at a great price. The chicken wings are out of this world and the cheese steak dipped in tomato soup is awesome

Ok so I have been hearing so much about this little diner in Keyport I needed to see what the buzz was about. I honestly can’t believe I live so close to this place that was voted one of the #1 Diner’s in NJ and have never been. It isn’t much to look at and small on the inside. The staff is so welcoming as soon as you walk in the door you are greeted warmly. A very busy place but the service is excellent. I only had breakfast on this visit so I do plan on returning as the menu had a good variety. Today I had simple eggs with bacon. The platters coming out of the kitchen were huge. The egg bowls as they call it are enough for 2 people and only $ 9.00. Waffles, pancakes, omelets looked amazing. Everyone around us were commenting how good the food was. So on my next visit I hope to give a 5 star.

We ordered take out last night. I had a bacon cheeseburger deluxe and it was very tasty. I did order it medium rare and it was cooked well done, but it was still juicy and tender so I didn’t really care. The bun was amazing and the lettuce, tomato and red onions were plentiful and very fresh. Husband got the juicey Lucy burger minus the bun and he was impressed. We shared an order of the fries with blue cheese and buffalo sauce. They were good as well. And our kid got the kids hot dog dinner. I took a bite and it was a really good hot dog. It had a nice casing and a snap to it. You could tell it wasn’t a cheap dog. This was our first time eating here and it won’t be our last. I’m very happy we tried this tiny gem. There are a few diners in the area but none compare to this place.

after knowing that this diner was named nj’s best diner by , my bf and i gave this place a shot and boy was i extremely happy that we did! it’s definitely a small and old diner, but the nostalgia adds to its ambiance. it was quaint and probably of the cleanest diners i’ve visited! bonus? the utensils were obviously clean and didn’t even have watermarks on them! the place was filled, but we were able to easily snag a table for two. it was evident that there were many regulars as the staff called many customers by their first names. as newbs, we were instantly welcomed by a hostess and immediately after, our waiter. we had a tough time picking what to have. we settled to give the memphis bbq fries a shot to start with… thick golden fries covered with bbq pulled pork and melted cheese. soooooooo goooood!!! would definitely come back just for this! my entrée: el desayuno burrito — a burrito stuffed with chorizo, scrambled egg, onions, bell peppers, jalepeno, and cheese. on the outside — home fries, pico de gallo, and sour cream. WOW! it was huge and i didn’t know where to start! loved every bite! bf’s entrée: the brunch burger — burger topped with pork roll slice, cheese, and a fried egg. one bite and the runny yolk ran down the whole burger! bf loved it and he satisfyingly said, «for once, the food beat me.» our waiter was great! when we ordered our food, he kept saying that our choices were superb because they were his actual favorites! this made us confident with what we ordered. he was on top of his game and made sure to often check on us. the other staff seemed great too! they interacted so well with all of their customers — even the little kids! this made it even better! will definitely add this to one of our new regular spots! p. s. a little ol’ lady at the table next to us kept mentioning how awesome the lobster bisque was, but they didn’t have it the night we went… will def try on our next visit!

After all the hype I wanted to go. We went for the 2 for 20 night. Soup or salad, entrée, and desert. We both had the salads, they were very good. Cold, assorted greens, and good ranch dressing. ! had the chicken parm. The portion was very big. It was very tender. The sauce was just OK, but that is a personal preference. She had the roast turkey, which was also a large portion. She liked it. The deserts weren’t so good. I had the banana pudding, which was not great and she had the rice pudding, which wasn’t very good. It was good enough that we would try it again, maybe it was an off night. Maybe the regular chef wasn’t on duty. The price is very good for sure. It was also very loud in there, I guess the hard walls, floors and ceilings really amplify the sound.

The food was delicious and the service was awesome. Make sure you are hungry when you arrive, they serve huge portions. The blueberry pancakes were fluffy and amazing. My server/waitress was so sweet and kind. I hope to make it back on my next visit to Jersey.

Large and varied breakfast menu. The fried chicken and waffles was perfectly accomplished. Price was $ 10.95 and I brought some home for later. Breakfast bowls were served all around us and looked delicious. The locals filled the diner on this Sunday morning. A great find. Will definitely come back to try their dinner menu. A must.

Driving back from LBI to NY on a Saturday I hit up the Unilocal app for a restaurant /diner and ended up at this diamond in the rough. Obviously a ‘locals only’ spot on a Sat morning, it was packed. We were seated in a booth immediately and felt very welcome. The food was really good. The service was superior. I am glad my Unilocal app(and bottomless coffee) helped this weary traveler make it home. P. S. if you use the facilities you may find the last pay phone in America.
