CityView Trolley Tours of Key West

I have nothing but glowing things to say about City View Trolley. My friend and I were in town for 3 days and used them the entire time to navigate the city. Leah and everyone we spoke with gave us amazing customer service! They really went above and beyond. There are numerous trolley tours in key west, but we are so glad we chose city view! Also, the trolleys come around every 15 minutes versus 30 minutes for the competitors. Definitely will be using them again.

The tour was great! The tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable and the history of the city was excellent. You get a 2 day pass and you can jump on and off throughout the day. You get to see various sites like the beach, Hemmingway house, shopping locations, bars, 0 mile site and other locations.
One note: There seems to be a kind of rudeness to people on behalf of the drivers sometimes. I had this happen to me and I saw them also do it to other riders. One guy asked if he could buy a ticket directly from the guy. The answer was, «Not a Chance.» No explanation was given. I had a Tour guide talk to us like kids which I was kind of shocked about. SO000 if you happen to have this occurrence maybe it should not be taken personal.
Overall, Great Tour and a great way to see Duval Street.

This was a fun little adventure. We got the advanced rate of $ 19.00 per person (we didn’t actually book online, but the lady was kind enough to give us that rate when she overheard me say to my husband, «see, we should have bought online!»)
What we liked was that the trolley’s come ’round each of the eight stops on the tour about every 30 minutes. That allowed us to hop on and off when we wanted to and when we were ready to resume the tour, we just went back to the stop and waited for the next trolley.
We picked up on a lot of historic info about Key West that we never would have known otherwise. The only stop we did decide to disembark at was for the Hemingway House (see separate review). Our first trolley guide was better than the second, but we may have felt differently had we had the other one first… who knows!
It’s a neat and relatively affordable way to see many of the bigger tourist sites on the island (Mile Marker 0, Southernmost Point, Hemingway House, Harry Truman Little White House, etc.)

Trolley takes you through town and you see points of interest as well as the beauty of Key West. I enjoyed the ride and the sights very much. Totally recommended!

My husband, friend, and I were on a cruise last week and decided to use CityView to show us around on April 18 while we were in port at Key West. We ended up hopping off and on twice, but that worked out really well. The first tour guide was friendly and cool but we were only on for a few blocks. The second guide, Benny from Boston, was awesome and we were sad to leave him when we hopped off at the beach! The last guy was friendly but not as knowledgeable with the fun facts as the first guy or Benny.
Cons: We had to wait 30+ minutes in line just to get on the first trolley. There were 10 – 15 minute waits for trolleys to show up after we hopped off. But all of that seemed a little normal in the area when a cruise ship was docked.
Pros: We bought our tickets from Groupon for $ 17-​$ 18 per person, but even their normal rates ($ 21-​$ 25 per person) seemed okay for transportation all around Key West. All of the guides were friendly and two were really knowledgeable and inviting. When we asked quick questions about how to find a pharmacy or where to grab a great local bite to eat, they were all very helpful and it made Key West feel very welcoming.

Great tour of Key West. We have been coming here for almost 20 years and have taken this tour along with some of the others and none compare to the City View group. Our tour guide was Mark «the Canadian» and he made the trip so enjoyable. Always giving different tips and places to try… knew so much about the area it made us want to stay longer… or come back sooner. Keep up the good work!

Good tour with 8 convenient stops. We paid $ 19 per adult for 2 days. This was the recommended tour at our hotel and I had no complaints. We never had to wait long for a trolley. The different drivers had different personalities and different highlights but all were fine. Could have used more Key West history.

Informative live narrated tour of Key West. Mark from Canada was most passionate about Key West and sharing sooo many interesting facts. This can be a hop on and off means of transportation. Would have given more stars if the wait between stops was less than 30 minutes and when the trolley did arrive full of passengers the wait could be longer to board. Hours of operation 10 – 4, ideally longer hours would be more of an incentive to use.

Usually I like to explore a new city on my own, but I know it was going to be rainy, and I wanted to get a feel for distances and locations before striking out on my own. So glad I did. The driver was friendly and knowledgeable, and the hop-​on/​hop-​off option was quite handy. We bought tickets online which were at a discount, and I think it was money well spent to get us acclimated to Key West.

I’ve done this tour several times. My hubby and I travel to KeyWest regularly and sometimes we jump on to accompany friends on their first visit to KW.
The good: it sure beats walking to every spot on a hot sweltering day. Or in a downpour in a particularly rainy day.
The bad: inconsistency. Some drivers are quite informative and others are downright rude. More on that later. While there is a lot of quirk and history in KW, I feel the drivers missed the mark on consistently sharing all the fun facts. I was pointing out more facts and info than the driver, one passenger commented that I should be giving the tour.
The ugly: our driver last week-​Nick might have been his name-​lectured us about drinking. He told us we would probably end up killing someone or ourselves… or our livers. He went on a diatribe about alcohol being no good and we should stay away from it. At this point 90% of the ppl on the tour left. The only reason I stayed on was my friend and I were not in the mood to walk in the pouring rain. This dude is a killjoy and should leave his judgmental comments for his diary… or, his meetings if that’s his thing.
Also, of all the times I’ve taken CityView (abt 12x) no one has ever mentioned that if you are not at the exact spot the trolley stops to be picked up, you will in fact be left on the curb running for the trolley. The drivers do not give one white hot damn if you’re twenty feet away, they will leave you in their dust. They should be less self righteous about this and more informative. The driver left 4 ppl behind when they were literally 20 feet from the official sign and then stopped the trolley in the middle of the roadway a few minutes later to let some lady drop a check off at a business by the wharf while we all waited. What kind of mixed messages and hypocrisy is that? The staff at the ticket counter lack some professionalism. And, the prices jump dramatically from visit to visit. What the hell? Definitely done with CityView will go with the «orange trolley» from now on (Old Town Trolley). The CityView ppl certainly like to make negative comments regarding their competitor when they should work on their own in-​house issues.

Enjoyed the trolley tour. Rode the trolley two days. First driver was Mark. He was a great tour guide and very personable. The drivers are really what makes the tour. Really appreciated the fact that he asked everyone to refrain from talking on their cell phones so those that were interested in learning about the city could hear him. 2^nd day we had Vinny as our tour guide. He was hilarious and had us laughing the whole trip. We learned some little extra tidbits from him. You have to take the trolley tour if you’re interested in learning about the city you are visiting. These tour guides both did a wonderful job and I would highly recommend them and don’t forget to tip them to show your appreciation!

They take your money and don’t deliver service! Do not use! You will waste your limited time in Key West. Once you get off they leave you stranded. $ 72 for a one way trip! They do not have regular 20 minute service. They won’t come for long periods of time and then there are no enough open seats. I used this company because we had an elderly family member who who had difficulty walking in the heat. I wish I had not been robbed by this company. On the way to the other side of town I watched our driver insult my fellow passengers and tourist in general. I called their «business phone» several times and it is not working. Waste of money avoid this company!

Been waiting an hour between trolleys showing up and the trolley we’re on actually moving.
When the trolley finally started moving, the tour guide was rude and pretty arrogant, often shushing people if they happened to talk while he was talking, or threatening to stop the historical talk if people did not pay attention. At one point, he stopped a woman from taking a picture because he had not yet finished talking about the location of which she was trying to take the picture.
He was very adamant in stressing how his family was vital to the survival of the entire island, and how his most recent family reunion had somewhere in the range of thousands of people and included someone important from some place that had married someone in his family. As if he waned us to applaud him. Yawn.
I may have cared for his stories of mediocre glory and forgettable history if not for the fact that we had to wait on the trolley for 15 minutes while we watched him drink a Gatorade while chatting with the person selling tickets, all while we sat in the sun and heat.
Do not recommend

Don’t waste your time or money. Driver/​Guide was rude, insulting and hateful. Within 5 minutes I asked him to stop and let me off.

This tour was great! Although you have the opportunity to get off and on the bus at each stop, we rode in its entirety. The driver was great, and being able to hear all of the history in Key West was really fun. Went with my husband and three kids, ages 16, 19 and 22, who all loved the tour as well. Great way to see the whole island as well!

This tour wasn’t very informative! We had two different tour guides, that briefed 2 different things, it was like they were making it up as they drove by.
The only thing that it’s good for is transportation, throughout Duval Street!
I wouldn’t recommend this trolley, I would get the other two that have been around in Key West a while, like the conch tour train or the old town trolley

Excellent tour… hop on hop off type trolly. Our tour guide/​driver, Vince, was awesome. Funny, entertaining, and knowledgeable.
It starts from morning until 430. Worth it. It cuts the walking. And it passes through all the famous landmarks like Hemmingway’s home, Southern most point, etc.
Check out groupon… there may be a discount.

If you are in Key West for a short period of time (cruise) and want to see everything efficiently, the trolley tours are a good way to go. It is over priced but they have a captive audience and well thats america. This lot sucked though, we stood waiting at stop one while two of their workers were chatting, I told them we purchased online and they said ok, then when we went to get on the bus the lady said «no» you need to exchange them for actual tickets? Annoying, I had just been standing there while they talked about the night before have said I was good to go. Once we got on the driver must have talked for 10 mins about tips. He was knowledgeable, but knowledgeable in a way where a person from another country becomes a tour guide and learns everything from a book or a rehearsed speech and the timing is off.
They did make the tickets good for the following day, but we were gone. Trolley tour is worth doing, just NOT this company CityView.

The Old Towne Trolley tour has had two busses come by while we’re spending our vacation waiting on the next City View trolley. If you choose to take this tour, DONT GET OFF, because you’ll be stranded for going on 45 minutes.
Update: once I told the driver about them being late he became RUDE!!! This is an unprofessional company that NOBODY should have to suffer.

City View Trolley tours???
Consider using another trolley, there are other options. This opinion is based on my recent experience in November of 2014. My wife and I went on a cruise with stops in Key West and Cozumel, Mx. Prior to going on the cruise we decided to pre-​arrange an excursion of sorts, i.e. a trolley ride through Key West.
Armed with our online purchased tickets we headed to City Trolley located just a short distance from the cruise ship pier. Our ride through the city was enjoyable and informative. The driver was well informed and pleasantly described all significant sites on the tour. The problem was when we had to return back to the pier. We waited 45 minutes at a City View Trolley bus stop and no «trolley». Other trolley’s was regularly stopping, picking up passengers and off they went, however no City Trolley. After this lengthy wait we and others decided to walk. It was a long walk, it was hot, sunny and it was a good work out, however that was not my or purpose or goal when I order for trolley tickets at $ 18.90 per ticket.
If had to do it again, I would pre-​arrange, however «City Trolley» would not be on my list of options.
