I just moved to kew gardens and was looking for a new nail salon. This salon was closest to my apt and i called to make an appointment. When I arrived they seated me right away to do my nails(Gel manicure). This is when the torture began. The old lady that was doing my nails took off the gel I already had on but she was filling it like a 5 yr old child. While cutting my cuticles she cut me twice on both of my ring fingers. This all happened last week and my ring finger on my right hand still hasn’t healed. I guess she was sick but if your going to wipe your nose please clean your hands right away. She answered her cellphone several times while doing my nails, which I don’t mind but please pay attention to what your doing or excuse yourself. When I left the salon things started sticking on my nails and I saw she had painted the underneath my nail as well. I will never return to this place, they should do a whole renovation of the place and have this place cleaned.

Today i went back to First Choice Nails after a very long time. Angela scheduled my appointment with Lucy and i can’t brag enough about how happy I left the nail salon. I showed Lucy a picture of the design I wanted and she recreated to perfection. I am super happy with the service and quality of my awesome manicure. You want awesome designs Lucy is your lady. Angela thank you for accommodating me in your schedule.

I see so many bad reviews here. I mean, you see what you’re walking into before you sit down so to complain about the way it looks is irrelevant. Clearly its not the nicest looking on the block but they get things done. I have been coming here for a few years and Angela and her staff are awesome. Mani/pedi for $ 17 Mon-Wed.Can’t beat that. If youre looking for something upscale, choose one of the other 8 salons on the block, this place is just a quick go to. Don’t be all butt hurt they don’t make you feel like a diva.

This the place is disgusting. I went there for a pedicure because it was close to my home and I was short on time. I was serviced by an older woman who proceeded to give me one of the sketchiest and worst pedicures I’ve ever had. In the short time I was there. she managed to cut me, scald me with hot water, and dropped tools on the floor that she then proceeded to try to use on me before I objected. The whole place looks very unsanitary. I could not tell where she retrieved the tools she used from, but I know it did not come straight out of a sterilizer. I also witnessed her surreptitiously wipe her nose with her bare hands and then touch my feet, and also then dipped her bare hands, which she had just touched my feet with, multiple times into a jar of salt/sugar scrub! UGH! Gross. I got out of there as fast as I could but not before she had the audacity to stand there waiting expectantly for a tip! When I got home, my feet and legs were starting to develop a rash. I felt compelled to shower and scrub myself immediately, and then smear myself with rubbing alcohol, hydrocortisone and antibiotic ointment to fend off whatever filth I may have picked up there. I have never been so grossed out and been to such a filthy«salon». I will surely never go there ever again! BEWARE!

I came here for the first time today. I walked in around 1:00 this afternoon and it was dead. There were three women sitting there and helped me as soon as I walked in the door. I told the woman helping me that I wanted eyebrow waxing, gel manicure, and pedicure. Great! I head over to get a pedicure and I notice there are flys everywhere and kept landing on me! I was so grossed out. Next was the gel manicure. Everything went fine there. Lastly, it is time ft eyebrows. But no — everyone was«busy» and couldn’t do it. She told me I would have to wait. YEAHRIGHT! Every other nail salon I have gone to will stop what they are doing on a rotation basis to do a waxing. I said forget it I will go somewhere else. All in all, they did a nice job! However, it needs major renovations. Way to dirty for me.

I have been going here since I moved to the hood about 4 years ago & I think they are the best of the bunch! There are about 8 nail places within 3 blocks. No more please!!! I can’t believe the negative reviews below. I have always been treated lovely & their work is excellent. My pedicure lasts so long I forget to go back! They have a card that once is filled out you get $ 5 off & their $ 18 mani-pedi special is great from Mon-Wed. First Choice has been & will continue to be MY first choice for nails!

I won’t be going back here. The last time I had a manicure here something they used on my hands caused a serious allergic reaction, probably the lotion. Within 30 minutes of leaving their doors, the itching, bumps, and rash started. And it sparked a bout of eczema that lasted for months. :( What really bothered me though, was when I went back to find out what products they used(so I could avoid said reaction again in the future hopefully) I got major attitude. First she showed me a bottle of lotion, then she gave up that it was filled with another brand of lotion than what was on the label. It was all so shady. Lady, I’m not looking to sue you, I just want to know what caused my allergy!

I should have known better when the receptionist at a neighboring salon said the owner was a bitch. Big surprise, I had one of the single worst experiences of my life at this salon. First off, I made an appointment and ended up having to wait about 15 min. No big deal? Yeah right. I was one of the last clients of the day, and my pedicure was so rushed I left with un-filed toenails that go in right angles. If they didn’t have time the owner/receptionist/gel nail tech should have offered to book me for another day. But, it gets worse. I asked for a gel fill and the entire time she’s telling me they were done wrong and someone put acrylic in there. This may be the case but I left the salon looking worse than before(I hadn’t had a fill in 2 weeks). All the while she is insulting the last person who did my nails I’m thinking maybe she’s not that bad… After three days two nails are cracked in half. But the nail in the coffin was the bill, $ 70. When I told the owner of this there-is– no-way-they-will-pass-the-next-health-inspection-sweatshop – atmo salon I was overcharged she went BALLISTIC. Instead of explaining to me the charges she SCREAMED at me, «Do you think I would have spent this much time on you for $ 30!?». W/o going into further detail it seems she asked me if I liked my nails and when I said, «Yes», that was an invitation to use more expensive materials and not mention the added cost. I went home with terrible looking nails, angry from being repeatably yelled at, and a wallet that was $ 65 lighter. NOTRECOMMENDED!
