Van Buren Tap Room

Well, this just isn’t a good place for me. I’m not a big fan of hardcore rap and drug deals. The drinks are strong and well priced and the people were nice, but the atmosphere just wasn’t for me. They don’t accept credit cards, you have to pay to use their ATM which is lame. Their DJ was having fun and she tried to get the crowd to be dancing with some line dancing, but they seemed more interested in playing pool.
The bathrooms were a bit gross, and they don’t offer food so it’s getting a 2 :-/

We went to watch the late afternoon Sunday games recently. Didn’t have a great experience…
Lots of TVs, which is good because you can still follow your game when you have to go wandering around to find your waitress. That is really the only good thing here.
There are TVs in the patio area, which is pleasant; however, smokers crowd the porch (isn’t that illegal now?).
The service is terrible. We were one of 4 or 5 tables in the entire place, which seemed to be served by a single waitress. The first beer was quick. After waiting 10 minutes with an empty glass, I walked up to the bar and ordered another. I told the bartender we had a waitress but I couldn’t find her. She wasn’t the most cheery bartender, but she got the job done.
Our waitress returned maybe 15 minutes later, we ordered some nachos. She returned with the nachos a little bit later, drops them off and we don’t see her again for another 20 minutes. Again — going to the bar for drinks.
She appeared to be hanging out in the kitchen mostly. The other tables received the same poor service. We won’t be back.

Nice little place. Ambiance was great for drinks and to watch games. Waitresses/​bartenders were extremely nice and prompt. Prices were a bit high, especially for an early afternoon drink. Wings were good, not great, but good. Although my experience was ok, I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to go back.
