I just discovered Spec’s a couple of weeks ago and have been in twice. Both times I was greeted when I came in the door and there’s always a staff member nearby if I needed help finding something(vermouth is always a challenge). It’s well-lit and well-stocked. Their prices seem to be better than the other liquor stores in town too. It’s a bit farther from home, but I’ll make the drive!

I love coming to Specs. Always a good selection of beer and wine. Haven’t bought hard liquor, because it’s still cheaper for me to buy it when I visit California and bring it back(but all liquor stores in Texas are overpriced on hard liquor). Staff here is friendly, although it would be nice if I could get more suggestions on beer(and if Specs could carry more Texas microbrews).

Awesome selection of liquors, and delicious accompaniments. To give you an example, my first trip I picked up some prosciutto, cheese, and smoked almonds to go with my cognac. I was looking for Hennessy, but found just about any other cognac but my first choice. Instead I decided to try Conjure. The signage made it easier for this first timer to easily navigate the store’s very wide selection On my second trip, I had more time to spend and decided to check more closely for Hennessy. It was then that I saw the hand written sign, henny is in the front of the store. At the checkout I was reminded that I had the chance to save 5% with a preferred payment method. I think this is a great and skillful way for a business to save money and pass that savings on to the consumer. I asked about a new cognac I had been wanting to try, d’Usse. Unfortunately they had ever heard of it and did not have it in stock. What really turned me off about the situation was that this is a new premium brand(I’ve never had it, so I cannot attest to it’s quality-so please don’t read this as an endorsement of any kind) I assume that since liquor is your business that you’d be current on new or upcoming products. What got me hot again was the store manager’s offer to try and special order it for me! This was just my second time in the store and I was very impressed with their desire to earn my future business. I would expect this kind of experience from a business that I frequent, but wouldn’t expect service like this from a place that is several states away. I know this was a very simple gesture but I mention it because it’s a prime example of how to develop regular patrons as well as gain new customers.

I am a fan of bringing gourmet items to this small town. Cheeses, coffee, and fancy beers. I love it.
