Mencius’ Hunan

Just a word of warning, you cannot exchange one included item for another, and they should ask if you want that on a side.
Would not recommend this place, stay away from it and find another better place to eat at.

I am going to give this a solid four. As far a the food it is buffet quality but in single serving. Portions were ok but for the value they could have been a little more generous. The waitstaff is very friendly and the manager/​owner tended to some regulars. He acknowledge them by name when they entered and checked on them often. They do keep your glass full which was nice for me, you don’t get that much nowadays. As why a 4 star it is not because if the food, but the clean restaurant and staff make up for the lack of a higher quality food.

The building is clean, the wait staff is almost overly attentive but not particularly friendly. they’d sneak in behind you and attack… I mean how man tea refills does one need??. I had to wave them off three times in as many attempts. They seemed more intent on getting us in and getting us the heck out. The food quality was adequate nothing special… My problem was I ordered the Lo Mein lunch special… and got a modest portion of the typical Lo Mein you can find nearly any Chinese restaurant… I also got a huge portion of fried rice which seems too much like space filler, an egg roll and a Crab Rangoon. If it had been another day I would have sent it back as I really only wanted one starchy carbohydrate. One nice thing though was No TV in sight spewing out it’s programming, as is the trend for many restaurants these days. Since I cant give them 2.5 stars I’ll give them a 3, and would probably come back…

This is a nice restaurant with a dining room that probably holds 80. Good selection on the menu and items are well priced, with good portions, and very nicely presented. Take out also available.
