We enjoyed our dinner here. I got shrimp fajitas and it was quite good. The food was fresh and the service was very friendly. The place is also very clean and inviting.

The salsa is fresh and spicy, enough to make you sweat just a lil, but not too much. I couldn’t resist ordering the albondiga soup, haven’t seen it on a menu since I lived in CA. It was a little more red than others I’ve had, but none the less scrumptious. The meatballs weren’t as tender as I wanted, but I almost never eat meat anymore… its been months since I had beef. I also had the Agua cate Relleno… half avocado stuffed with shrimp and special sauce. This was very filling and tasty. I didn’t have room for dessert. I’ll be back! There are some dishes on the menu that I want to try.

Very warm and friendly staff. My wife and I went with our 4 year old. We were very appreciative of the free mini quesadilla while we were ordering. The food was all made from fresh ingredients. I had read that they don’t use anything canned and you can taste the difference. Excellent guac and salsa. I had a combination platter and enjoyed everything on it. And the price is very reasonable. They are waiting on a liquor license but I noticed other people had brought their own. We will definitely be back. It’s great to have a «go to» for mexican close by.

Chicken fajitas were really good. Great ambiance. Service was great. The only thing missing was alcohol because they don’t have their liquor license yet.

I waited to write this review because I decided to give Don Juan’s a second chance after a terrible first visit. The second wasn’t any better and I award the one star to our waitress who was very nice on both visits. I’m always a little suspicious of restaurants that feel the need to fly those tacky used car lot flags and have a dirty«Open» banner flapping in the wind. I also don’t understand their sign with a logo of muscle bound, bald guy who looks like he owns a tattoo parlor. Nothing about the look of this place is enticing from the outside. However, this is my neighbor and I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I kept thinking it really comes down to the food but sadly, the food is not good. We ate here twice with two different couples and in every case, everything was a disappointment. Dry, stringy chicken, tough tasteless beef, and pork that had a hint of freezer burn. Everything was wrapped in something starchy and dry that required a lot of water to swallow. Bland rice and soggy vegetables are part of everything. The many dishes all have different names and descriptions but arrived at the table looking identical. The menu is overly large and complicated, but it doesn’t matter as no matter what you order it will look like one of three things. Some of food tasted like it came out of a Goya can or jar, other dishes just tasted like salt or had a splash of hot sauce as an after thought. They might want to try adding some cumin, cilantro, coriander and jalapeño to their food. To me, Mexican food has to be about fresh ingredients and there simply weren’t any. It was also expensive for what we got and no one really cleaned their plate because the food so uninspiring. One of our friends ate about a third of her chicken burritos and stopped saying it wasn’t worth the calories. I would much rather spend my Mexican food money at Gaby’s in Ellenville, Casa Villa in Kingston or Mexican Radio in Hudson. Heck, I would rather go to Taco Bell, Moe’s, or Chipotle. All further from my home, but better than Don Juan’s. Edited to add: I am grateful they removed both the dirty open banner and the tacky multicolored flags. It makes the building look more better. It gives me hope that they take the public’s opinion seriously. My husband does not want to go back, but one of our friends said she would give it another try and I will probably go with her to see if the food has improved along with the exterior.

I would give it 0 stars if i could Food was horrible! Ordered pork chops and was brought out thin dry pork cutlets. Shell steak came out dry and tough. None of the food is fresh. All from cans Best of all is this is a mexican restaurant and they dont have any margaritas or liquor. Just majorly dissapointed. This place wont last very long just like all of the failed restaurants before it

Good food good prices. BYOB and ask for the mixers. Yes that’s right they’ll make you margaritas if you bring the Tequila!

Beef chimichanga was really good, they use a shredded beef not ground beef which was pretty nice. They give u a complimentary cheese quesadilla, and tortillas with salsa. There salsa is really good it has a little zip to it which I like. Service was very prompt, and the place was very clean. Prices are very reasonable. Will definitely return.

Great food, great service, what more do you need? Can’t wait to visit in the summer and sit out on the deck. The menu has much more than your typical taco/enchilada/burrito choices(but they also have those too, of course). We were a party of four, everyone ordered something different, and every one was pleased with the food. The servers were very attentive too, but didn’t rush us at all. $ 44 a couple with guacamole appetizer, 4 entrees, tax and tip. As of now, they don’t have their liquor license, but they will allow you to bring your own alcohol in. Be nice and purchase their mixers though :-)

Came in for take out. Immediately greeted by a friendly girl and an overall cheerful atmosphere. The menu has the typical Mexican options. Looked like the average price was $ 12 – 14. We ordered simple fare. Three chicken burritos and a cheese quesadilla for the less adventurous vegetarian in the family. It took about 15 minutes for the food while waiting, the place was hopping. Seems like many locals came to visit the new restaurant and others were returning. The bar looks like it is under construction. It sits through a door way on the other half of the building. I can see it getting loud and disruptive to the diners at the restaurant side once it opens. I took the bag of food home. The takeout bag consisted of four aluminum tins with covers. A bag of chips which the bag was almost see through from the oil and a plastic tub of salsa. Glad to see they don’t use styrofoam. I was expecting to see a large burrito. Instead, I saw three tiny burritos, received beans, rice and some lettuce. The quesadillas were three tortillas folded and an ample amount of greasy cheese. The meal was good. The chicken was nicely seasoned. The sauce was very good. Overall a very good meal. Although, I was expecting a huge burrito to sink my fork in to. Their sauce was fresh and bright in color. The salsa was good enough to jar and sell. I even ordered a grilled jalapeño which I didn’t get charged for. Very nice. Total charge for three burritos and quesadilla– $ 46. A little pricy for what I’m used to in Seattle. This is a rural area so the prices might be what is expected. We will go back.
