I travel all over Iowa for my job(75%) and this is the best Chinese I’ve discovered statewide! A true hidden gem — highly recommend you stop by and check it out. Awesomeness…

Great local place for inexpensive Chinese food. I’ve been getting the orange chicken and fried rice here for the past 15 years, and it’s some of the best around. They also have a lot of other good options that aren’t as sweet /breaded… Often get Chicken and Chinese veggies, Beef Broccoli, and most of their shrimp dishes are also pretty good. For noodles, I like the Chicken Chow Mei Fun, which has a very light sauce, or Chicken Lo Mien which is a little richer. Nothing fancy, but great food. Also, don’t forget it’s cash only.

We have searched all over the area for a decent Chinese place and this is the only one that comes even close to good Chinese. We really enjoy their food for the most part but every once in a while we have received an «off» order. We particularly notice that their pork egg rolls(we only like pork egg rolls so we have not tried the other options) & crab rangoon are usually awesome but can be extremely greasy periodically. We guess it may depend on if they need to change out their grease? This does not happen often, thankfully. Their shrimp fried rice /house fried rice(pork, chicken and shrimp) include huge shrimp that are wonderful. It is not the small tiny shrimp that you often see in fried rice. Their prices are very reasonable and there is a small area for sitting down to eat there but in my opinion it is more of a take out place. You can almost always expect to enjoy the food here and it’s better than anything else around. As a side note, they do not accept credit cards so bring cash!

This place sucks! We tried them a few weeks ago, they messed up our take out order. When we called they said we weren’t charged for an item we know we ordered. No apologies, just too bad for us. Crab rangoons were cold and double cooked pork was 95 percent cabbage, where’s the pork? Gave them a 2nd chance and this time they forgot an entrée, once again they said we weren’t charged for it and no apologies nothing. We’re done! I’d rather drive 30 miles for chinese food than be dissappointed by First Wok again! Oh yeah, heads up, they do not accept credit or debit cards.

After reading Ed A’s review I thought I would give the egg roll a try to see if his feedback was accurate. After my egg roll was delivered, I placed it on a napkin to see how much grease came off of it. Even after cutting it open on the napkin — no grease. Still the best in Keokuk. Not the best anywhere, but for Keokuk it can’t be beat.

If this is the best in town, I would hate to know what the rest of the Chinese restaurants are like. First, I was given the wrong order(takeout). Then, the food I received was bland and disappointing. The eggrolls were so greasy that the oil poured out of them when you picked them up. While it is true that they gave me a lot of food, I would much rather have a lesser amount of something good instead of a mound of bad food.
