I’ve been coming here for a couple months now and every time I leave more knowledgeable, either about hair or just life in general. Top to bottom these fine gentleman do an outstanding job and I’m not looking forward to having to find a new barber when I move to Austin this summer! «There is no simple haircut»

This is a great barbershop. I’ve only gone once and it was really hard to get served as they were so busy and there is no sign-up list. It’s a bit expensive for a gentleman’s haircut in that area, but the price is just about worth it. I would more than likely go back next time I’m in the area and in need of a cut. Gabor did did a great job and he seemed like a genuinely nice guy, something you don’t find in a lot of barbers. we talked about my upcoming trip to Britain and the bar scene in Philadelphia, where I actually live. He even bragged about the shop’s Unilocal reviews. Apparently Unilocal reached out to them, wondering what they were doing so well that caused them to get universally great reviews? Giving good haircuts with quality service, obviously.

I just recently moved back into the area and was looking for a local barber. My girlfriend found Alex’s on Unilocal so I thought I would give them a shot. This place is the real deal. From the second you walk in you feel welcomed. Not only are they great at what they do but they are very proud to be third generation and to carry on the tradition of what their grandfather started. That alone speaks volumes. You all just gained a customer for life. Great cut and fairly priced. Skip going to one of those big box store names and give Alex’s a try. You won’t be disappointed. Excellent customer service and laid back atmosphere. That’s my type of place. Keep up the great work.

My go to for a haircut. Sometimes I’ll even drive from Hoboken to get my hair cut here. Highly recommend this place over any other!

Just moved into the area, and extremely happy w/the cut I received from Adam. Showed him some pics, and I got exactly what I was looking for. These guys know their stuff. And if you can’t get in on a weekday, it’s easy enough to make an appointment online for Saturdays — a little more expensive, but well worth it if you don’t have the time during the week.

Finally found a real good barber shop. So tired of poor embarrassing haircuts from fresh recruits just out out of hairstyling school. I would tell them not to take too much off then walk out looking like a marine. These guys are great. Don’t take too much off results in a good haircut where they don’t take too much off. No more need to wear a hat up until bedtime. I can’t tell you how embarrassing meetings are wearing a ski cap in the office. No more of that! These guys are the real deal. If you live near Kenvil, make these guys your new go to barber.

Bravo. An excellent haircut. Unfortunately I found them at the end of my tour at Picatinny Arsenal, otherwise they would be my go-to place for a haircut. Highly recommended.

New place is great in Kenvil, the best barbers I have been to. This is how a men’s barber shop should be.

I just like a barber shop. I’ve been getting my hair cut from there for years. When their Father and Uncle were there. The boys given a great haircut and outstanding service. Good luck to them in new place!

I have been going to Alex’s for over 8 years. This is one of the best shops around! They have more than 50 years of experience and it shows. Gabor and Adam, the owners, have a true passion for offering the best they can offer. I highly recommend them. Btw, if you are lucky you will also get recommendations for great restaurants too…

Last of the GREAT old time barber shops. Adam and Gabor are always welcoming and friendly to everyone. More importantly, they do a great job. Doesn’t matter which one of the brothers you get — you will leave happy. Over the years, I have tried other places, only for the sake of convenience — but I keep coming back here.

These fellow Magyars are the real deal. Friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable and cool. No gum chewing shore babe afraid to cut your hair the way you want it cut. Not many places to sit and wait, so be early, or stand outside. $ 22USD plus a tip is competitively priced and well worth it. Didn’t bring up their love of home brewing, but that will give me something to chat about when I return, Gabor and Adam are great guys and true professionals.

Finding a new barber can be a difficult task for many(or maybe just me). Nobody wants to spend money an walk away with a bad haircut. The guys at Alex’s barber shop are super friendly and make trying a new place out less painful. They are very talented and make you feel comfortable. I am normally the type that likes the way my hair looks a week after it gets cut, but I can honestly say I was happy with my hair walking out the door. Thanks Guys!

I’ve been looking for a new barber shop for a while and this shop had exactly what I was looking for. It’s casual, down to earth, and the barbers are clasically trained. Gabor cut my hair and was super helpful and knowledgable about mens cuts. My old shop used the disposable straight razor to finish off the edging but my skin is sensitive and I was prone to ingrown hairs. They abandoned the razor shave and exclusively use the clippers for a more natural and adult hair line. The price was reasonable($ 22), wait time at lunch only about a half hour, service was friendly, and most importantly of all the cut was superb, I’ll definitely be back!

I went after researching hair places on Unilocal.I knew there had to be a good compromise between a $ 12 bowl-cut you receive as a kid, and shelling out $ 40 for a luxury-salon experience. I was right. these bothers know how to cut hair, talk like men, and brew their own beer. Good prices and service. I’ll be back.

I was struggling to find a good barber in the area, but was very happy to find Alex’s. Got my hair cut by Adam. Did a great job and was skilled with his Oster and scissors. Gave me a great fade up too. He was very nice and made sure he kept the conversation going and seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me a bit. He was also very professional and made sure he sprayed his Oster constantly. Had a great experience here and will definitely go back. The only thing that would set Alex’s over the top would be if they straight razor shaved. They would be a completely authentic barbershop if they had that going for them.

My dream barber shop is a dimly lit, swanky and hip joint that offers me fine cognac, single malt scotch and fresh brewed espresso. They have those big old fashioned broken-in classic barber chairs. The soundtrack is new age funk. LCD TVs play sports and CNBC. Its run by master barbers who wield clippers with artistic finesse. And that straight blade, hot towel shave is always offered, along with manicures. The pool table and classic pinball machines(Playboy, Dark Knight and Kiss) provide entertainment while you wait, and high end hair and skin care products are available but never peddled. Confession: My utopic barber shop doesn’t exist. That’s why I go to Alex’s barber shop. Everything that really matters is what you get at Alex’s. Real deal, master barbers dishing out masterful fades, just right, each and every time. If you like beer, that’s even better. No, they don’t serve beer there, but they sure like talking about it!

Adam & Gabor are both really cool guys. Always have a good conversation to go along the great cut. The spot is old-school, but these guys keep it young and lively!

You want a beautiful salon where they take 10 minutes to wash your hair? You want an ultra cool, ultra hip atmosphere? You want a hot brunette to cut your hair while she presses up against you? Well, you’ll have to go someplace else. Alex’s is more of an old school barber shop thats setting is more like a man cave than anything else. It’s clean, simple and staffed with guys half the age of a true old school barbershop. The internet provided music also doesn’t suck. While you sit and wait for your haircut you will have the largest selection of magazines this side of a library. These guys don’t mess around. They’ll make your doctor’s office’s selection of mags look pathetic. They are also masters with their hair clippers. I thought my son was getting a decent fade until Adam(one of the two brothers) cut his hair. The amount of time he spends, shaping and blending hair is pretty much like an artist with a paint brush. They are very detailed and precise. That equals a good haircut in my book. The brothers plus 1 are very friendly guys. Everyone who goes in seems to have been going for quite some time. If you want to save $ 2 get your ass in there before Saturday. It’s $ 16 Tues-Friday, but $ 18 on Saturday. Don’t bother rushing over on a Sunday or Monday, they are closed. They’re solid guys and will have my business for years to come.
