Matthew is a great guitar teacher who will give you some solid fundamentals in music theory as well as the ability and desire to improvise. I take lessons from him for his work in blues, blues-​rock and other «roots» music. Matthew organized a backyard recital with several of his students, and I was nicely surprised how many were learning classical and other guitar forms from him. Just shows the broadness of his experience and knowledge! One 16-​year old student, a classical virturoso, comes from San Mateo (30 miles away) on a regular basis! I highly recommend Matthew if you want to learn what to do on your guitar, and why you do it «just that way»!

Matt is a good teacher. My son started lessons with other teachers at young age and had been through 4, all positive and he had learnt all they had to teach in their style and needed to move on each time. Matt was his last teacher and the most technically proficient. Plus his own music is extremely good [I still listen to it now years later].
Highly recommend Matt as teacher.
