Loved all the lighting on a dreary day, It was a highlight for my friend and myself as we took a break from overnight stay at Point Reyes heading home. Definately coming back!

My boyfriend and I stopped here for breakfast on the way to the Muir Woods for a day of hiking. Lovely little town and bookshop next door to browse through while waiting for our table. My bf had the eggs benedict, and I had the wake up scramble with hash browns. We both loved our plates! Generous portions and the coffee was great! We were able to pour our cups while waiting for our table. I had the biscuit instead of toast, and it was so good! Definitely stop here for a great breakfast and great service if you get a chance.

I was in on a Sunday morning. I ordered Green Eggs And Ham, the flavor was great on the verde, but the pouched eggs were over cooked and the bowl was swimming in water, and it had been sitting too long before it was served. The black beans were cold. My friends had oatmeal(good and hot), eggs Benedict again eggs cook too hard, not what he ordered. And a order of pancakes that arrived hot and delicious. The wait staff never came back in a timely manner for us to let them know and two of us were catching a flight. If there is a next time, I will hope for a better out come from the kitchen. And more attentive waitstaff.

A happy habit. We try to visit once a month or so, stopping in on the way to work. I cannot resist their Eggs Benedict.

YUM! So glad I came here for breakfast one morning. It’s a clean and open space with plenty of large windows to let in some sunshine. Very friendly customer service that made the whole experience even better. I ordered the wake up scramble which had chorizo, avocado, corn, and onions… It was packed with flavor! Get it with their chipotle mayo! I also shared a plate of pancakes and it is definitely in the top 3 best pancakes I’ve ever had! They were so fluffy and when you top it with their orange marmalade butter, it is heaven! Tip: try to come early because by the time I came in around 11 there were no more breakfast biscuits or most of the pastries available.

Average breakfast place. I felt the ambience and location to be appealing. However the size of the menu was very disappointing as I was craving corned beef hash, which they did not offer. I ordered the«special omelette» that included chicken sausage, tomato, avocado, and cheddar. The omelette was nothing special, as I feel was comparable to an omelette made at home. The hash browns on the side was not as crispy as I hoped, and felt more like mash potatoes. I did enjoy the biscuit and marmalade butter. If I’m ever in the area, it’s a chance I might try again in hope dog of ordering something more appetizing and a fan favorite(eggs benedict). However, Half Day Café is not on my recommended breakfast places around San Rafael.

Enduring neighborhood breakfast and lunch spot right across the street from the College of Marin and clearly a destination for foodies from all around the county. I recently returned here for a brunch for the first time in a couple of years, and found it to be satisfying. I know that the restaurant can get overrun with patrons — and there was a wait as my group and I left — so this appears to be a chronic problem. My entrée on this visit — the gluten free pancakes — was very tasty and not too dry, as some entrees like that can be. The rest of the people in my group also seemed pleased with their eggs benedict style entrees.

Hand down the best eggs Benedict! Must try! I like the healthy feel of this place. It is one of my favorite places to come for breakfast! They also have a lovely service who are super sweet people and welcoming. You do have to wait sometimes to be seated because this place is very popular but believe me it’s worth the wait

Ambiance is so cute, barn meets greenhouse kind of feel. This is also the same for food, very fresh, very healthy. From farm to table should be their slogan. Eggs were pretty average but their potatoes were delicious! I ordered the whole wheat waffle and it was a favorite especially with the bowl of fruit and some honey on top. Would definitely be coming back and 10⁄10 would recommend to another!

I have literally been coming here since I was an infant. It is a Kenfield gem and has consistently been the most delicious breakfast $ can buy in Marin. Whether you want pancakes, eggs, oatmeal, biscuits, or scones — you cannot go wrong. Also the latte in a soup bowl really seals the deal for my all time fave breakfast spot in Marin. Keep it up HDC!

Delicious breakfast. So glad we finally thought about coming here when they’re actually open. Orange butter w baked goods is a refreshing touch. Everything was very fresh and delicious. Note that the green eggs & ham comes with salsa verde, which is tomatillo salsa, not green chile(so it’s tangy). Service was fast & friendly. Look forward to returning when it’s warmer to sit on the lively patio.

My parents have been taking me here since I was a child and still do. Now my boyfriend and I love to come here for brunch as well! We are never disappointed. The food is phenomenal and always super fresh and delicious. I’ve tried many different things on the menu over the years from every category ranging from breakfast-lunch-pastries-dessert-beverages and I have loved every single thing. Half Day is such a gem and the people in Marin know it. I have never seen them not busy on a weekend. However their wait is never ridiculously long. They have a gorgeous set up whether you choose to eat inside or outside. I highly recommend trying this place if you are ever in Marin!

If you are a health freak like me then Half Day Café is for you. I love the choices of different pancakes starting from whole wheat to gluten free. Marin County is a healthy environment and when you wake up motivated to start your day healthy and right, then come to Half Day Café. I usually come here with either few friends and then we go for hike or my love and we just eat. The coffee is addicting and hard to stop, just a warning. I love the Hong King breakfast, its very good and delicious. It comes with a side of bread or any card, so i usually grab a blueberry scone with orange butter, if there any left because I am never sorry. I have been here way too many times for different occasions and not enough!!!

Please note: This low rating is for this my breakfast and particular visit. This is not my first time here. When living in the area, I used to frequent Half Day once a month. It’s been a few years since I’ve been here, and I’ve never been disappointed. I love their homemade sausage patties. So one of the the Labor Day Weekend specials was a Country Benedict $ 12.95. Biscuits with homemade sausage, poached eggs, and sausage patty with spicy Hollandaise sauce. It came with your choice of potatoes or fresh fruit. I was looking forward to my breakfast. Unfortunately, here’s what I got: one bene’s sausage was burned all around, but since I really like their homemade sausage, I scraped off as much black burned sausage and cut up the sausage. Yes, I had to dissect the bene. Well, I then discover that the bottom biscuit is hard as ever because I couldn’t cut into it. Fortunately, the egg was good, so I ate what was left of the scrapped, cut up sausage with the egg with the tasty spicy Hollandaise sauce. As I finished that off, I was eying the second bene. I poked around with my knife and fork at the sausage first, and it was perfect. Much to my dismay, the egg was overdone and the biscuit was so hard my knife stopped as soon as my knife reached it. So now, I’m super disappointed and told the server. I explained to her about the first burned sausage patty, pointed out the overdone egg, showed her the biscuits, and demonstrated the hardness by tapping it with my knife. She said, «Wow! I can hear how hard that is.» She apologizes and offered me the menu to another breakfast order. I politely refused since I had the pastry and coffee before my breakfast came, and me and my family had no time to stay and wait for another breakfast to be made and eaten. They had a steady flow of patrons the entire time we were there, which is not unusual. By the way, their homemade pastry/scones are great. My husband ordered a smoothie to go, and the server told me she was working on the bill to take care of me. Unfortunately, she retuned and told me her manager wouldn’t do anything. The guests at my table were surprised Half Day wouldn’t at least comp the nearly $ 6 smoothie. So here’s my breakdown: My Country Benedict — 2 stars Hash browns — 4 stars Hubby’s Huevos Rancheros breakfast — 5 stars My pastry — 4 stars Coffee — 4 stars Server — 5 stars(she was super nice and attentive) Manager — sucked at customer service, no stars for him/her just deserves 5 thumbs down If in the area I will come back, but if I have a problem, I’ll bring it to my server’s attention asap.

A very central location in Kentfield for locals to meet and have some breakfast or lunch. Everything is baked on premise and organic. The service is friendly. Ample of parking space in its lot. Indoor and outdoor siting available. Their Buttermilk Pancskes and Belgian Waffles seem to be pretty popular item in the menu. The eggs dishes are also extensive. Great place to hang out on lazy mornings…

Would you like green eggs and ham? I would like them here or there, I would like them anywhere, but where I like them the most is half day café. The first time I was here about ten years ago, I didn’t know what to have. My brother, being the jokester he always is, said, «Have green eggs and ham for breakfast.» He had not read the menu. I had. I said, «I will!» I did and whenever I go here, I almost always order it :) I went here again today. We were worried the waitress was not listening but we got everything we ordered. Besides the green eggs and ham, I also had the hash browns and the lemon blueberry scone. The hash browns were good(as usual) and so was the scone. That being said, I don’t eat scones often but I will eat them here! So what are the green eggs and ham? They are not eggs with green dye, they are eggs and ham mixed a bowl with cheese and salsa verde. I usually do not like Mexican food for breakfast(it runs in the family) but for this, I will make an exception(whether I’m here or there). So overall, I love half day café. It’s been a breakfast staple for us for a long time, especially when brunch places seem to be fleeing Marin(yes, I was sad when Millers closed). Half day though will always be here :)

This is my go-to brunch spot. I can’t say I have an interest in anywhere else in Marin. The food is always delicious, the servings are so big I usually take half home, and the prices are what you expect — not inflated like most brunch spots in Marin. I always get an egg white omelet, with bacon or chicken sausage, cheese, and veggies. This comes with a side of potatoes or hash browns and toast. It’s under $ 10. And, again, if you’re a light eater, it’s two meals. I just tried their soy Chai latte and it was SO good(and probably also why I get too full!). Shared that pic. If you don’t want to be bothered by occasional pest(wasps, flies) issues, sit inside away from the windows. These are dopey wasps though… maybe too many mimosas? They are always pretty busy but the wait is usually under 10 minutes. It’s a bit confusing to find at first… enter via the parking lot driveway bordering the LEFT of the café itself(also to the right of a restaurant called Ambrosia)… drive back and to the right; there’s also more parking as you wind around, or in worst-case, on the street(College Ave.). Tip: if you’re going for a boozy brunch, opt for mimosas. The wine is a few dollars more and not good. Enjoy! This is one of Marin’s best hidden gems.
