These guys are closed. I pass by here daily on my way to the office. Ate their once and it was okay. Lots of lunch competition in the area.

I gave it three stars because of the down home southern welcoming and service, but I can’t save the same for the food! I mean ya from the south? and make BBQ like that? If your looking for just Friendly Service? Check this place out, but if ya want some southern BBQ like I was expecting? Than look somewhere else because I didn’t find it here. The sad part is ya right down the street I gotta start listening to the rest of the Unilocalers

So I guess my review is going to be just a little different bcos I actually liked this place! Things to go for: yam pie, rib tips(get the special) and their potato salad! Oh and the collard greens! Everything I got was great and the prices are very reasonable. Hence, you get what you pay for. Definitely coming back to try more items though(: oh and the woman behind the counter was so kind! She even gave my nephews free dessert despite them sorta running around the place lol.

Went there the other day and was sadly disappointed. At first I thought classic BBQ place nothing fancy but great food. Well not really, food was ok at best service was poor. I told the cashier it was my first visit and asked for a recommendation; I got the blank stare. That was the start and it continued from there

Ok I love BBQ and now that I am back living in Seattle I have had to lower my standards again. In Salt Lake there were some great BBQ places. In Seattle there are ok places then there are places like this. Went on Fri Afternoon with my dad who loves BBQ. He had eaten here before once and had not come back even thought it is the closest place to his house. We were hungry as we had just been moving us into our new place in Ballard. So to start nice lady to help us at the counter. I ordered the rib plate dad got the rib tips. They got the food out and put it in the microwave to warm up the meat. Yep Microwave. I used to hear from my friends BBQ truck in Bellingham that was the first sign of bad things to come. I agree when you don’t keep the meat in a steam tray and you microwave already very overcooked no meat ribs it only makes them tougher. That was the case ribs that were dry meatless and overcooked. Not a little over cooked but maybe 30% overcooked. Do I even want to talk about the rest of the meal. NO please just retire and close this place down nice people, BADBBQ! dad said the food was just like the last time he was here. Sorry guys but this was the worst BBQ I have ever had. I would give them no stars if that was an option.

They heated my food up in the microwave and the peach cobbler was frozen. Food tasted bland and lacked flavor, had to throw out my entire meal.

They microwaved the barbecue plate to reheat it and it was at best warm and was actually cold before I stopped eating. Additionally the smoke boxes outside didn’t look or feel like they had been that day. I don’t think there is anything left to say.

The people are awesome but the food is not. I started a new job right around the corner and I do hoped it was going to be a regular stop for lunch. Had the 1lb special. Two ribs, a big chunk of chicken breast, a smoked sausage, and a scoop of coleslaw and beans. Just not flavorful meat and the sauce was very thin and not my favorite. Thought about going back to try the catfish but I think I may pass. So sad.

Yucky yucky food!!. Went there once was so hungry. But this is the worst barbeque place I’ve been in Seattle and believe me I’ve been to ALL of them. Ordered, then paid, the guy came out with my order placed it in the microwave WITH the Styrofoam. Can you believe it? styrofoam in the microwave that is harmful to the body. He place was dirty. Won’t ever go back. You want good barbeque go to uncle mike in west Seattle

Uuuk, I so badly wanted good bbq… good would have been great. food still frozen. I should have walked out when u saw them use microwave. They have two of them set up right in front. Place was nasty, not clean at all. Signs everywhere reminding you to clean your own table. Dark dingy, I really thought with all the dirty they may just be a diamond in the rough… nope just a turd in the toilet. Avoid at all cost.

WORSTBBQEVER!!! First off when walking in the place looks like there’s rodents that run through it. Floors are dirty, stove dirty, ceiling is a yellow color(should be white), and the front counter is even chipped. Definitely not clean and I should have walked out then and there. Second, when I ordered my food, it was placed in the MICROWAVE! What kind of restaurant puts their food in the microwave? A crappy place is right. Again, I should have left at this moment. Unfortunately I didn’t. Lastly, I took the food home to eat. I took two bites of the BBQ beans. They taste like cigarettes had been dropped into them. I could taste the ashes. The BBQ beef sandwich looked like dog food, except dog food probably tastes better than what I tasted. The food wasn’t even hot, and I live 2 minutes from this place. I didn’t even finish before I threw it away. I had a craving for BBQ and this definitely didn’t fulfill my appetite. I will never be going here again.

I like the general because it is flavor wise far better the smoke that they do the prices are reasonable and when I look at what it would cost me to smokin barbeque myself it’s cheaper just to go there and get what you want

On the hunt for some good BBQ to scratch the itch for some and we found this place. The itch remained unscratched when we left. Perhaps the food was left too long in the buffet style food holder at the counter after being cooked, but the variety of meat we were served was just sub-par to our expectations. Not entirely warm and not entirely juicy, we fought our way through some tough dry portions. We came. We ate. We quickly left.

I was really excited to try this place as it’s close to my work and I love a good barbecue. While not totally disappointed, I wasn’t as impressed as I had hoped. I tried their ribs, which were chewy. The brisket was ok, but didn’t have that strong of a flavor, unsure why. The odd thing, my partner who doesn’t generally like brisket really enjoyed it. So, perhaps it’s just my taste but I have been to the south and have had really good, smoking brisket and this wasn’t the same. One thing I did like, although needed butter, was the cornbread. I really enjoy a good corn bread and this was some! The use of whole kernel corn is something I really enjoy and they do it. They also keep each piece wrapped to help keep in the moisture which made for some good eats!

What a disappointment! Pros: Staff are friendly. The sodas are cold. The $ 3 size of french fries. Cons: French fries not fully cooked. A couple still frozen inside. Brisket(1 Lb) was cold and placed in a styrofoam container. The ‘cook’ was about to heat the meat & styrofoam up in a microwave.(So much for being freshly cooked.) NEVERAGAIN. The journey continues to seek out a great, no, at this point, good BBQ.

Always on the hunt for GOOD bbq and this one(for me), might it. It’s located in the industrial part of Kent that’s off the main road, but you can’t miss the many bbq’s lined up on the outside. No glitz or glamour, just a simple menu and the typical foods you’d find at a Bbq joint. Their BBQ sauce has a nice combo of tang and sweetness and they’re baked beans are delicious too. I had rib lunch which had 4-pork ribs. There wasn’t a whole lot of meat on each rib so i was a little let down(which is why I gave it a 3-star.) My wife had a «generals special» I think… it had 1 big bbq, bbq chicken and spicy sausage. her rib was very meaty — so they definitely have meat on their ribs. just not with mine. The sausage had a nice spicy kick that helped cut the tang from the sauce. Everything was very tasty and I am for sure coming back to try their cat fish!

Awesome food. They came a catered out company meeting not too long ago, and man oh man was it ever good. Perfect deep freind chicken, great ribs. Everything was so tasty. People have brought their pulled pork in for lunch and wanted to try it so bad. And I wish I would of sooner. Two thumbs up here. Never been to their store, but who needs to when the cater. just awesome.

This was a spur-of-the-moment noon time stop. All in all, General’s serves up decent barbecue. General’s also has a distribution/catering operation going on next door. The entire business is located on East Valley Highway. The scuffed floor inside the entrance looks like it has seen better days. However, the dining room looked newer and nicer. I thought it was a bit amusing that there was a sign posted on the counter that said«No beef ribs!!!» with the«no» underlined about eight times. Somebody seems to have an intense antipathy towards beef ribs. I went with the«Kansas City Beef» sandwich combo meal to-go($ 7.95). I also ordered a slice of corn bread($ 1). When I opened my Styrofoam three-section takeaway box, I was a bit surprised to see baked beans filling two of the three sections and crowding the sandwich in the third section. I actually enjoyed the beans, because they had only a minimum of sauce. But lemme tell you — the beef in the sandwich was flaming spicy hot. Not unbearably hot, but still, there was plenty of fire. The sandwich was served sort of open-faced, meaning you eat it with a knife and fork. The very mustardy and very peppery potato salad was good. I was a little skeptical about the cornbread, because the gal at the counter popped it into the microwave while it was wrapped in plastic. No worries though. This was outstanding and delicious corn bread. It was moist and dense, containing a few corn kernels. You can get a miniature pecan or sweet potato pie($ 3.95), but I did not try either on this visit.
